JJ Fish & Chicken

A national treasure of a business. I try to stay away from fried foods these days, Lord knows I do... BUT. A craving is a craving. And recently I found myself craving some fried fish and wings, and I only wanted them from JJ's. So that's just what I made happen.With so many locations around the city, this location was closest to me at the time. I decided to order online and it was such a smooth process! I ordered and scheduled my pickup time for about 10-15 minutes later. Located in a plaza next to a gas station, this place was on swole lol. It was super easy to get a parking space out front though and there were a number of spots still open on the side of the building. Now, there was a lot going on in that parking lot but to me, like the guy selling toilet paper packs and body wash lol, that just showed me that I was in the right place. The interior of the restaurant may not be much to see, but it isn't made to be a seated dining establishment. There are no chairs, just ample open space, a kitchen you can look into, a table where you can season your food, a table full of condiments and a bathroom in the back. That's it, and that's all they need tbh. There were about 10 other folks inside and everyone was patiently awaiting their orders. The menus were on display and super easy to read if you didn't know what you wanted to order. Lucky for me, I ordered in advance so I stepped into the 2nd line to pay. The checkout process was super smooth and I was given a number + a ticket, and told to listen up for my number. I feel like I only spent about 6-8 minutes waiting for my food as I people-watched and looked at the wall art that looks like it was fresh out of '91 lol. I was listening for my number and didn't hear it. Luckily, I was looking towards the kitchen and the gentleman who was calling numbers looked me directly in my face after calling a number and motioned for me to come over. I swear he didn't say my number but I went over anyways, lol. Low and behold, it was my order! How did he know it was me? lol. He gave me the biggest smile and reassured me that it was my order, making sure that I saw where to get condiments to go. I ordered a catfish + 3 wing combo and swapped out the fries for fried okra and baby. WOW. What do they put in that batter?! I added extra seasoning on the way out (because, duh! You can't leave without a little extra) and I swear that I'll never get tired of that flavor. I've had JJ Fish & Chicken a number of times but I think this was my best yet. Portions were plentiful, the food was incredibly fresh and stayed hot for my entire drive.The fish was perfectly fried and flavorful, super crunchy. The okra pieces were huge and the wings were not little baby pieces like I often come across these days. I really can't rave enough about this location!

I have ZERO complaints.. I ordered the food and drove home 23 minutes away and the food was still hot! It was fried to perfection, it had the crisp and seasoning like the Lord himself made it. I have heard a lot about it and I was glad to try it. The customer service was typical Atlanta? That's why I'm giving 4stars instead of 5, but the food was superb. Go there to get your food to go, not to have a good time !

Food quality seems "so so"--incredibly salty. And from a cultural standpoint- I was eager to try the restaurant because it is supposedly a black-owned franchise. However, every location I have been to (even though located in predominantly black neighborhoods and areas) is not ran by African-Americans or people of West African/Sub-Saharan decent. All locations look to be ran by Arabs or people of East African descent with white/mestizo Latinos as cooks. Disappointing.

Fried fish excellent! Get a piece of cake or banana pudding too. You can make 2 meals out of a 3 pc fish plate. Fast service.

Some of the best fried fish and shrimp I have ever had. The batter was light. The seafood was fresh. Whatever they sprinkle on the top of the food is delicious.Food did not take long to prepare. Service was average.No ambiance. Keeps your head up. I wouldn't go at night.

it's free of flies this time, and a lot cleaner. This is a very homeless area, a lot of addicts hang around and it can be very ghetto. If you are a person that is bougee then this is not for you. Food is fresh and very good. I love their fried mushrooms, they don't fry hard even if you ask for it. So you will get regular fried chicken, the soft fried and the fries are nasty to me.

You can't go wrong with JJ! Clean fast and yummy! Service is great also!! My favorites are the shrimp and wings! They sprinkle them with crack dust which i don't know what's in it but it's delicious. I suspect salt and sugar both not healthy but who goes to JJs to be healthy! Their wings used to be really big but i guess like all places now they are smaller :(

Worked well for my small get together...wings and fish were great. The Seasoning was gold star.

The food is always great there love the okra. The fish and shrimp is always great the fries are awesome! Not to forget to mention the baba pudding!!

I went to J J fish & chicken by Greenbrier Mall I ordered the catfish 3-times in 1 week it was great I hadn't eaten catfish in 20 years they made me change my mind it was seasoned and fried to a crisp in clean fresh grease I will be back
