Jim's Backyard Barbecue

There have been rave reviews about Jim on our local Facebook page and our neighbors mentioned it during a conversation we had to get some for our Friendsgiving. I had a question regarding the chicken and so I reached on the website and was provided a prompt response. I placed my order for pick up 2 days later. They do offer delivery if local as well. I ordered a half order of brisket (point); 2lbs of pork belly; and 2lbs of chicken. Total was about $150. We had a party of 4 adults and 3 picky kids. Upon pick up the order was quick and easy. It was actually ready before our scheduled pick up time! (Email was sent with estimated time.)The food was still hot when we started to dig in 30 mins later. The brisket came whole so we had to cut it. Pork belly came in large bite sized pieces. Chicken came chopped per my request. Everything was sooo delicious, juicy, and flavorful. I'm not too keen on smoke flavored or dry brisket but Jim's totally changed my mind! Blew all of us away. For a party of 4 adults, this would last us 3 meals. We couldn't stop raving about it afterwards!!! My personal fave is the pork belly. The sauce was sweet, tangy, and had a bite. I couldn't get enough! Brisket was fatty but I love fattier pieces of meat. The chicken looked dry but it was tender and full of flavor! I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely order again from Jim's! Very satisfied and highly recommended! B

We are so happy and lucky to have stumbled upon Jim's backyard barbecue. The turkey was fresh moist delicious perfectly cooked. can't wait to order other items in the future! Thank you for what you do Jim bringing families together and the taking away the stress out of cooking a big bird!

The majority of my reviews this year have been regarding BBQ brisket, so I guess I'm still on a crusade to find the best in San Diego. Well, I had a party at my house last week and reached out to Jim to provide meat, cole slaw and corn muffins. There were several BBQ aficionado attendees and everyone agreed that this was THE BEST we've had in Socal!! The brisket was cooked to perfection... luscious and moist with a delicious crispy bark. Every single attendee asked for Jim's contact info, that's how much they loved it. Not to mention that the pricing is fabulous. Truly half the price of the other options that I looked into. Free delivery was icing on the cake.

We hired Jim to cater my mom's 70th birthday party, and I'm glad we did! The food was amazing - we selected brisket, macaroni salad, moink balls, little smokies and baked beans. The food was a huge hit, and Jim was so friendly and professional. He also brought along homemade chocolate chip cookies, which were delicious! I would definitely recommend Jim for catering your next event. We will absolutely call him again for our catering needs.

Jim's chili was amazing!!! Plus, I'm not a chili fan, but I couldn't stop eating it. Ate with the corn bread that I got from him, also ate over rice, and later made chili dogs. I'll have to order the meats next time...or just get more chili for this cold weather.

Best brisket in San Diego. Great service and delivered hot and spot on time. Resulted in great family Labor Day experience. Great price/performance and VERY GENEROUS portions. Smoked baked beans & home made BBQ sauce were also 5+ Star exceptional. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for anyone wanting to have a "stress free" at home original BBQ for family, friends, or business associates . I placed a big order from Jim's Backyard Barbecue for a multi-family birthday get together. We had about 13 people and ordered the brisket, babyback ribs, pulled pork, smoked chicken, chili, mac n cheese, cowboy caviar, beans, and cornbread. It was a great meal. The meat was so tender and flavorful. We all ate so much. The group raved the most about the brisket and the pulled pork. The brisket, pulled pork, chili, chicken, cornbread, and cowboy caviar were my personal favorites. Amazing! Also, the portions are huge. Jim was also a pleasure to deal with. He answered all my questions prior to submitting the order, delivered the food exactly on time, and was super friendly to chat with. Overall, it was a great experience.

I don't have pics because we ate everything so fast. We ordered a smoked turkey breast and jalapeño poppers snd the food was excellent, and everything was ready when expected. I got a text and an email letting me know my order was ready. No issues, exactly what I wanted, and excellent food.

Phenomenal!!! I ORDERED AHEAD for Super Bowl LVI family party; Jim's food was a huge hit!The pork ribs were succulent with the perfect amount of bbq sauce (no need to add more) the bacon wrapped "moink balls" and "lil' smokies" were delectable testy treats and the creamy dreamy macaroni salad were forkfuls of yum! The men in my family barbecue and they asked me for Jim's info! Lol I'm looking forward to trying everything on Jim's Backyard Barbecue menu!!!

All the food is delicious!!!! The cornbread is the best I've ever had. It's not dry, it's perfectly moist. I've tried the plain, cheesy and jalapeño and all 3 were SO GOOD. The smoked meats are so good too!!!!! 10/10 I would recommend everything on the menu. Can't wait to order again.
