Jimoto was a different experience than we had thought. We stumbled upon this place in the suburbs of Winnetka and I was taken by surprise. The sushi and salad was a very tasty and filling combination. We got the salmon on the salad for some extra added protein. We requested that they grill the salmon and they did just that. We were so appreciative for them doing that because I cannot have raw salmon. So with that, we will say the service was excellent! The restaurant is a cute, vibrant, and comfortable setting in the suburbs. If you're looking for sushi or simply a fun place to go with friends in the suburbs, this is your spot. All in all, we had an enjoyable experience.

Came here with a friend for dinner. The ramen salad and the rolls were delicious. All the rolls were delicious with the Chicago fire being my fave. Definitely a place to visit if you're in the area. Good service and great sushi.

Location:Downtown Winnetka. Easy street parking.Ambiance:Super pretty, romantic, all good things. Definitely a date spot & people watching. Food:Sadly, mediocre. I sent a bad sushi salmon roll back after eating 2 pieces. Had bad food poisoning the next day. We ordered 3 different sushi rolls. Only one was good. We ordered all 3 based on waitress recommendations & they ran about over $20 per roll each. Service:The manager came over to talk about sending the sushi back, well, sort of, she insisted the fish is fresh to me. Maybe if she ate a piece, she could verify it's bad....before contesting my claim. I eat a lot of sushi. I know if it's bad...they did accept the return with no fuss. I've had much better service elsewhere where they were extremely apologetic, etc. Overall:I would not be back. Sushi is really bad. Service is lacking too.

We did carry out. We were missing items we ordered despite the order being "reviewed" before checkout. We called and the manager graciously refunded us, but the food wasn't enough to feed our party. The sushi was way too overpriced, and honestly didn't taste amazing. Would've preferred somewhere like AO Sushi. Oh well.

We had dinner with family and friends last night. It was busy Sat night, but the staff and service were quite good. It is fairly small place, with tables a bit too close to each other, and not much of atmosphere to write about. The prices are on a higher end, and I expected high quality super fresh sashimi, nigiri, and rolls. The rainbow roll was ok at best, sashimi combo had fresh varied fish as I assumed to be, but without "wow" factor. The fish was cut very thin too. Hamachi carpaccio appetizer was probably the best selection from what we ordered. Downtown Winnetka is nice place to stroll around and get a dinner, bit I am somewhat of sushi connoisseur, and simply expected more. To be objective, I would give it 3.5 out 5 stars, but not quite 4.

So insanely loud I couldn't hear the waitress telling us about the specials or my husband sitting next to me. Literally ruined the entire dinner. Service was mediocre but ambiance flat out was horrible. Food was just ok. Nothing super exciting in terms of menu but pricey nonetheless.

Jimoto was a hidden gem and we were so happy we found this place. Loved an inviting ambience. Great for a day night as well as friends gathering. Sashimi was so fresh that it melt in my mouth and we all loved Ramen noodle salad and all rolls we ordered. Hard to choose my favorite but if I have to, Chicago Fire roll was it as I love spicy stuff. Definitely go back when I am in the area!!
