I have been ordering from Jibaritos y Mas in the city for years. I was stoked to find out they also have a Harlem location, because I left the city for the burbs and it is hard to find good food around here. I have never dined in, only purchased take out or delivery but this place hits the mark on most items. Items I order regularly include: PR rice, carne guisada, empanadas, tostones, alcapurrias, and steak sandwiches or steak jibaritos. The only things I wasn't a huge fan of were their pinchos (pork) and the bacalaitos. I just prefer the ones I've had when visiting PR and these are a different style/flavor. Overall, the restaurant is really cute inside. They have murals on the wall, a decent amount of seating, and it looks like this location has an interesting brunch menu too. I definitely want to check that out next. The service is good, but there can be a decent wait time to pick up food if you order too early. They really don't have much of their appetizer menu available before 11 am, so you will have a wait if you swing by earlier than that.

This is not the place to go. I don't know who here is vouching for this place but this does not get my stamp of approval. I have given this place two times enough for me to muster up even gathering words about this place. First of all the staff is rude and has serious attitude. Secondly, when the food finally did come out - the jibarito lacked flavor, for some reason there was plantain in the rice, the lechon was dry. I really don't have anymore words for this place. Try at your own risk.

The only reason I'm giving this place the two stars is because the drinks were very good. This was my first time coming here and I'm highly disappointed.. the food was so incredibly salty that not only did we not finish it, but we also had to order a side of white rice just to stomach the few bites of the meal that we could stomach. I got the Churrasco with Mofongo which was one of the more expensive cuts of meat on the menu, and it was overly salty. My friend got the chicken with mofongo. The Mofongo was not fresh and it had a weird smoked flavor. They serve all of the Mofongo dishes with a red broth that literally taste like somebody dumped an entire bottle of adobo in broth. Whoever is seasoning, this food has lost their sense of taste. My friend got a pineapple cocktail which she really liked and I ordered the original Mojito, This was the only enjoyable part of the meal. There are too many great Puerto Rican restaurants in Chicago to bother repeating this place again. I do not recommend it.

We really like this place. Got the 3 empanadas for an appetizer and they were very good. I got the roasted pork mofongo- portion was huge- a gigantic pile of pork, large ball of mashed plantains with spices, and a bowl of deliciousness (like a kind of veggie meat soup) to dip it in. Husband got the Cuban jibarito which was also gigantic and really tasty. Service was good. Prices were very reasonable. Place and bathrooms were clean. Wish they were closer and the store in Lincoln park hadn't closed but we will be back!

Excellent foods. My favorites are jibaritos de pollo (chicken) or bistec (steak) or camarrones (shrimp)/pulpo (octopus) mixto, maduros (sweet plantains), relleno de papa (meat stuffed potatoes), arroz con gandules (rice n peas). When I originally started coming here they didn't sale alcohol now they do with great options. The caprinina is excellent. There was also a small seating area now its larger. Parking is street and can be challenging but people are always circulating in and out. The fish filet is also very good it's not dry and again everything fresh and hot. The service is decent they give you your space to eat and dine so you may have to wave them down if they are busy. I suggest trying everything you like you wont be disappointed.

This is some great Puerto Rican food , the first time was wonderful but my second wasn't as pleasant as they had not made the jibarito fresh but from prefried plátanos, this made it soggy. The atmosphere was great and ambiance kind of inviting. Service was a bit slow but they were busy that day. I may try them again but who knows.

Went to order take out... somehow someone doesn't know the difference between an alacapurria and an empanada. Noticed at home.

I hate to give it a 1 star review and this is after going there and being a loyal customer since the Fullerton location, but this is for the Harlem location. The food is always great but the service ESPECIALLY when you're taking out is absolutely terrible. I have tried to not leave a review, but this has happened already multiple times at this location . The girl at the register her name is Patricia, she just looks mean and rude and should not be front of the house and be there with that attitude and miserable personality. She gives you the food not even in your hands she slams it down , doesn't say thank you has a mean face entire time like she wants to kill you. It's the most unpleasant experience every time I go in to pick up food. I don't know if it's because when you pay for carry out you're expected to tip every single time and I just think that's ridiculous and this is coming from someone in the industry I'm sorry, I'm not gonna pay for someone to hand me my food that's absolutely ridiculous. So if that is what it has to do with I just won't be ordering from there. She was definitely saying something to her coworkers because the other two servers were looking at me and laughing literally called my order picked up paid and, that's it. This is absolutely unnecessary! She was just a very miserable unpleasant person. The other girl don't remember her name but I know she has a ball on her forehead. Another miserable person terrible service in that register. It's never a pleasant experience or do you feel like they want your business or for you to come back.

Food is always a good at this location. Their restaurant has an extension to the back where you can get cocktails made! Artwork is amazing inside. I usually go with the jibarito plate. Easily shareable amongst two people. Service is where it gets tricky. The front cashier people are usually rude. That is the only thing they can work on. Other than that, one of my favorite Puerto Rican places in the area. Treat yourself to a parcha!
