Jerky Jerk

I'm so glad I got to try this #hiddengem of a Jamaican restaurant and I'm mad if yall knew about it and didn't tell me!!!!! This is now of of my new, favorite Jamaican restaurants in the city. First of all - everything is fresh, made to order and you can taste it! They have it proudly posted that they do not have a microwave.... and they ARE NOT SORRY ABOUT IT! With that being said - know that you will have a wait, BUT you can place your order online, pick it up in store and sit down and eat in the restaurant.There is a bar serving up drinks and the drinks are GOOD! But the food?! and there are so many different things to choose from! There are VEGETARIAN options too and I KNOW those are amazing as well!Here's what I tried: Jerk Fried Wings w/Fries Egg rolls Jerk Chicken dinner (1 meat + 2 sides)Jerk Stir-FryJerky Chicken SandwichSteamed CabbageAnd the drinks were hitting too - very tropical! When you're in the area, hit the brakes and grab you a plate and tell them that Bri from Planes and Plates sent you! YEAH MON! Enjoy!

Finally tried this establishment during lunch for take out and I was impressed with the amount of food that came for ~$20 meal. Ordering there and receiving the takeout was pretty quick, only had to wait around 20 minutes. Service was friendly and there were other patrons ordering takeout as well. Not sure I recommend dining in (at least around lunchtime) as it was very smoky inside (must be really good jerk chicken!). I got 2 entree and 2 side meal (grilled jerky jerk chicken, mr brown stew chicken, Mac n cheese, rice and peas). It was enough for me to split into 2 meals also! Chicken was grilled as I would imagine authentic Jamaican food would be. Along with a "melt off the bone" stew chicken. I will definitely be back to try some other options!

Good food, nice service, nice atmosphere - jerky jerk will definitely be part of our takeout rotation.My husband and I ordered lunch there this afternoon after seeing positive reviews online. We ordered two, beef patties; a jerk chicken/curry chicken combo with rice and peas and Mac and cheese; and a brown stew chicken/jerk chicken combo with Mac and cheese and candied yams. The portion ended up being big enough for us to share the curry chicken combo and a beef patty.The guys handling takeout orders were very cool and our food was ready exactly when they said it would be ready. The packaging was also done well so nothing would spill.The patties were fried, which I was not expecting, but they tasted good so no complaints. The mac and cheese was a little watery for my taste but the chicken and rice and peas were tasty. I'll update if the second combo is less successful, but based on today's meal, I'm a fan.

This restaurant has amazing food and excellent customer service. The interior is beautifully decorated featuring our Chicago sports teams. A visit to Jerky Jerk is like visiting with family!

Hey Yelpers the fat boy is out doing what fat boys do..... EAT‍. Today we went and tried Jerky Jerk. I'll start with the service. The service was very good. Very friendly people. Service 8.2/10 You notice the smoke immediately. You can dine in or carry out. We ordered jerk chicken dark, fried jerk chicken, jerk veggie wrap, mac & Cheese, rice & peas and some Jerky Fries. The Jerk Chicken was decent. Nice smoke and pretty good jerk flavor. But when you add the sauce!!! It definitely elevates the flavor. 5/10 without the sauce 7.3/10 with the sauce. The fried jerk chicken was ok. Once again the sauce made the difference. It comes with the jerk sauce on it. 6/10. The rice & peas wasn't authentic and I didn't enjoy the flavor 1/10. The Mac & Cheese taste as if it had some garlic in it. I'm a salt & pepper person on mac & cheese, Simple. 3/10 my wife had the veggie Jerk wrap. I didn't taste it but she didn't even eat half. I can't rate it because I didn't try it.‍Now the Jerky Fries! By far the best dish we had! The Jerky fries was flavorful, spicy, cheesy on point! I'll go back just for the fries. 8.2/10!Their Jerk Sauce 9.3/10 their sauce is AwesomeSauce!!! Spicy, savory, sweet & flavorful!Overall I didn't quite enjoy the food. But because of the service and those fries I'm open to trying some other dishes.Overall 6.5/10(Remember reviews are all subjective)

Orders for takeout and the portions are generous. We got the 3 meat combo, with jerk chicken, fried chicken with a mild sauce, and beef stew. The Mac and cheese was nice and creamy and the yams were pretty sweet. This was plenty of food for 2 people, and we will definitely be ordering again! Loved all of it, but would want to order extra Mac and cheese next time.

This is a good spot....they have wonderful food and we got right in. Small spot, interesting decor with weird seating. HOWEVER, the food was good....light on the salt....but tasty, good seasoning nonetheless. Oxtails, jerk chicken, curry goat, cabbage, plantains....is what we ordered. Sorry didn't get a pick of the curry.goat, my gurl was hungry...lol. the Oxtails was meaty, seasoned well, however didn't come off the bone as I would have liked. The chickenwas PHENOMENAL! charred, moist flavorful......yeeeeaaazzz......Cabbage, Mac n cheese( oops did t tell you abt that) was good...and worthy of a 2nd try.us

Really tasty jerk chicken from Jersey jerk. Great size portions & flavorful chicken full of soul. What else do you want from a jerk spot? The rice was also seasoned nicely and very tasty. The sauce that came with the combo was very spicy, so be cautioned if you're not a spice lover like me you should give it a taste before you bathe your chicken in it. Overall a great lunch from Jerky Jerk - thanks!

Oh my gosh, I am so glad I came across this place!!!My hats off to the chef everything is so delicious. I kid you not, you guys need to go there and just order everything! I am definitely going back probably tomorrow and the next The food is just SO good! I'm so excited to try their oxtail next time. I am in heaven.. my mouth is having a literal orgasm

I ordered carry out from Jerky Jerk for the first time on 7/24/2024. The food smelled great! I ordered 2 jerk chicken dinners and paid 40% more per dinner for white meat. The meals came with one side, not two as other jerk places. I ordered macaroni and yams with each order.Upon getting home to eat I noticed that the chicken was not served over rice and beans. I've never had jerk chicken not served over rice and beans. I found that quite unusual for an " authentic jerk restaurant." Jerky Jerk displayed it as such in their online menu. That was most disappointing!!! The jerk sauce was extremely spicy so I didn't use it. The chicken had good flavor but was a bit on the dry side. The mac was creamy stovetop not baked.My overall rating is 5/10. The food was overpriced for the portion.
