Jay's Italian Beef & Sausage

On recommendation from Facebook, I decided to give this place a try. I even told the man behind the counter. They have a nice size parking lot. I walked in and order a beef, dipped with hot peppers and fries. As I waited for my food, I noticed the place was a little dark, but once my eyes adjusted it was fine. They have a little gaming nook also. I unwrapped my sandwich and it was piping hot and dipped just right. The beef was tender and flavorful, with a delicious giardiniera that had a nice heat. Bite after bite the bread slowly gave way to the juicy beef. No complaints from me. I know to ask for extra hot giardiniera the next time. The fries were crispy and fluffy. They were well salted and hot. Looking forward to my next sandwich from this place.

As soon as I walked in to this little neighborhood eatery, I was immediately assaulted by the smell of garlicky Italian beef. I opted for a "juicy" beef sandwich, my buddy a sweet double sausage. Both were Very hearty. I didn't think I'd be able to eat more than a third, but it was so good I ate the whole dang thing. Battered onion rings were spot on. The place was clean in the middle of lunch rush. I really liked that is was a group of guys in the kitchen, not a bunch of random teenagers. A well-oiled team.The only negative? They don't sell their cool shirts.

Before flying back to Florida & I had to grab me some Italian Beef & I'm glad I stopped in to Jay's. I got it with hot & sweet peppers plus provolone cheese. It was packed with beef & oh so delicious! The guys working the counter were cool. I definitely will be back the next time I fly in!

Jays has been in my top 3 for years. I stopped in with the wife and she was excited to try them for the first time. Unfortunately the staff was rude, my combo completely fell to pieces by picking it up and the onion rings were terrible. They use to have the best O rings! Even our cherry cokes were watered down. All in all, I'll never come back and was a bit embarrassed in front of the misses. I suggest Frannies on River Road to fill this miss.

Legit one of the best beefs in the city. Pricing is super reasonable and they don't skimp on the servings. Always go beef hot dipped and you'll be a happy customer.

I hadn't been here in about 15+ years. Finally came back. Ordered a sweet beef, hot beef, chicken tenders, & fries for $30. Everything was great! Prices are pretty low given the crazy inflation going on right now. Quick service. Will definitely be back

Stopped in this place right after I flew in from DC. I was told I had to try and Italian Beef Sandwich while in Chicago and found this spot based on the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised. I told the guys behind the counter it was my first time and they made sure I had the perfect sandwich to get the full experience. I will definitely come back here!

The hotdog links are very thin. Not the most personable place , but not bad. The service is fast and the place looked decent, in terms of cleanliness.

Jay's Beef was so delicious and were very accommodating. I haven't been back in Chicago since discovering that I can't have gluten, so I had to get the beef on a bed of French fries instead of bread. One of the greatest decisions of my life. They have the type of fries that just tastes so delicious and is the perfect texture. Crispy and soft at the same time. Real mom and pop feel in the restaurant. Definitely one of the better beefs in the city.

Hands down the BEST Italian beef in all of Chicago, classic Chicago ambiance. Take your nonna, your mom, your pops, your children and your money here. I can bet you this will be the best beef you've ever laid your buds on. I came here with my parents and met Jay the owner. This man is the most humble, down to earth man -- he's a generous guy and takes care of his place and his people. A quality owner and quality products says a lot about your dollar if you spend it here.
