The ambiance was warm and welcoming! The name of the restaurant has a very cool cultural meaning that is explained on the menu. The food is all fresh and organically made and was quite authentic! The drunken noodles were delicious and grilled chicken was amazing! The fried rice was good too, only issue is you pay $4 for shrimp and it came with literally 4 pieces. Otherwise the food was amazing for the price and the service was great!

One of the worst happy hours in Chicago. $4 off for a glass of sauvignon blanc/pinot grigio does not do it for me (especially when i'm promised something different). The sign outside of Jareun Krung advertises half off for happy hour, but nothing is discounted even over 35%.

This is an elegant newish restaurant in the Lincoln park neighborhood. A young brother and sister team from Thailand are the owners and run the show here ( the sister is the server and the brother is the cook). The food was flavorful and very good. The chicken curry was a definite stand out as was the ginger chicken. I'd pass on the noodle dishes - no better than your average Thai restaurant but at a much higher price point. Service was good. Music too loud ( they did turn it down fortunately after we asked ), Food was good but portions run quite small. That combined with very high prices may not make me a regular but the actual food was quite good so may likely return one day.

I think we stumbled into Jareun Krung on their opening night, so please take everything I saw with a grain of salt, AND let this review serve as record that I WILL come back and update my review once their bar is open. This new Thai restaurant gives "upscale" and "trendy" vibes. The space is really well done for that. The bar was not yet open when I visited, but I think it will add a lot as well. The menu (and prices) align with the trendy vibes. There are some cool unique menu items I've never seen like curry puffs and a salmon dish that looked yummy. But, the menu is small and very expensive. $22 for a curry without meat, plus $4 or more to add meat. And the portions were small! $12 at any regular Thai takeout place gets you more food. For the quality of the food, that's where my review is conflicted. We had the Kua Kling which I thought was absolutely delicious. The server had us choose a spice level 1-10, we said 7 and they nailed it. We also had green curry, which our server recommended. The flavor and spice were good, but we got many pieces of icky fatty chicken that just had to spit out. Not a great look when one bowl of curry is over $22. We had started with the curry puffs as well, and they were yummy and tasted like Indian samosas. One weird kink - our food was brought to the table next to us. We watched it happen and watched as those guests said "we haven't finished our appetizer, can you hold that back in the heat until we're done?". So our food was brought to the kitchen, sat for 5 more minutes, then was brought out to us. Exactly the same plates. So it was cold when it arrived. Again, just a weird kink for the first night, but not what you expect when you pay $75 for 3 items in a restaurant trying to be upscale and trendy. As I said, I'm excited for the bar to open and I will come back and try again once they've worked out some kinks and added cocktails.

Slightly on the expensive side but really liked the honey steak bites that I got. My friend unfortunately thought hers was on the salty side :(

I love this place! Great Happy Hour deals. I got an entree, appetizer and two drinks for less than $45 and it was all delicious.

Very nice people working there. However, I have to say, for the price I expected more. I got the special beef curry and one of the meat pieces was very fatty, so fatty in fact that I had to spit most of it out. The other 2 pieces were good so it's just about consistency. For the price, you can't have fatty pieces of meat. Also the daily special salmon special stir fry isn't much of a stir fry. I expected all ingredients to be stir fried but only the salmon is and the rest is raw lettuce and tomatoes and white rice. Not the best for the price. Felt like an incomplete dish that I should not have paid $36 or so for. All they did was cook a salmon and served me raw vegetables. The salmon was good though I am fine with paying higher prices but they have to be elevated versions of the dishes. The dishes were solid, dont get me wrong, hence 4 stars, but I just wanted more out of the place that took over Chez Mois space (RIP chez moi and chef). Cool vibe inside though and like I said nice workers, very nice. Just need to iron out the kinks in the food and then it can be better. Hope they will get there! Hope this is constructive feedback for them and not seen as negative.

Ahh! This used to be Chez Moi, remember that? This is from the Keadkao Express folks that used to be in Urbanspace Food Hall. I Had the Chicken Potato Soup. PS. Soft opening 'til 11/30 & grand opening on 12/1.

Watery curries. Pad Thai tastes like it was flavored with ketchup. Portions were small. Easier to do much better.
