Japonessa Sushi Cocina

Good sushi in a pinch. Came in to town on a business trip on a Thursday night. Got to the hotel around 9pm. Not much open.Ordered sushi from here with a colleague. Kind of pricey for the quality. It was adequateNot much going on inside. Staff hung around by the front door and didn't do much with guests. Bright lights on the whole time. No real character honestly

Came to Japonessa for a quick bite for lunch and decided to try something new- the Agedashi Tofu- surprisingly delicious and enjoyable. The bar tender let us try some new cocktails as well, which were absolutely delicious. My favorite was his play on a Midori Sour (Right) and my friend likes the Aviation style drink made with Gin (left). As always, the staff were great and the ambiance was great.

Thanks Austin my family and I had a great time. We ate out in the patio my husband and our 3 kids. Ambiance looks somewhat romantic but it's definitely family friendly. This was our second time coming here and both times the food was good. We tried quite a few dishes and they were good. The wings were ok I'm just picky cause I like them to look a little smaller and not like steroids. The calamari salad was good but my husband said he didn't like the sweetness if the chili sauce but my 13 year old daughter enjoyed it. The price I can remember exactly but I want to say they were about $15 each.

This used to be one of my favorite go to sushi restaurants, but over the last couple of years the service and quality has gone downhill in my opinion. The staff is not really that friendly as they used to be. The ambiance of the restaurant is still pretty chic I would say, but if you are looking for quality and fresh sushi, this would not be the place I would recommend. The photo I uploaded was taken a few years ago, but the quality has drastically changed as time went on and had not stay consistent in quality or service. This would not be the top pick of a sushi place for me anymore.

I have been craving sushi for quite some time and I'm so happy we came to Japonessa! We came during lunch time and waited about 20 mins for a table. They have validated parking in the garage, super convenient!To my surprise it was happy hour! We ordered a mini chirashi bowl, miso soup, assorted sashimi, and the Mexican Ninja Roll. Everything was soo delicious, i can't wait to come back! Service was okay. The hostess we interacted with sat us at a tiny table in a small corner of the restaurant and walked away saying "it's small but enjoy your meal" which we thought was a bit weird lol

My friend and I came on a Friday night and parking for this restaurant was not an issue at all at this place, there was plenty of sports and an elevator that takes you to the restaurant. Once we got to the restaurant, we had to wait 20 minutes for a table to open up. When we got there our server gave us our menus and we also ordered drinks and got water. I will say lighting is a bit dim so it's kinda hard to see the menu, good thing phones have flashlights nowadays. My friend and I ordered an appetizer and 2 rolls each.They had plenty of soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger for us to use. I would say we waited like 15-25 minutes for the food to come and when it did the rolls came before the appetizers, which there's nothing wrong with that, but I did think we would get the appetizers first. For some reason, we now had a total of 5 rolls instead of 4 and our waiter had a difficult time figuring out which roll was not our roll and so I ended up just choosing a roll to give back to the kitchen. The roll that the waiter took back was the roll I actually ordered and I had to pay for the difference for the more expensive roll (which makes sense because I ate it) but since the waiter could not figure out what I actually ordered I have to say that the service is not good. I have more to say about this later. Our appetizers came and we happily ate our food and when it came time to pay, we asked to split the bill. Our waiter could not figure out for the life of them how to split our bill correctly. It took them 3 tries and on the 3rd try, I just asked for a menu and showed them what I ordered so they could stop overcharging us (as I already had to pay extra for the roll I did not order) and they FINALLY split our bill correctly.Overall, this place has good sushi and seafood, that is not the problem. This waiter we had just could not figure out how to do their job and for that reason, I am giving this place 3/5 stars, not for the food but for the service.

Very fresh and amazing food!Shrimp gyoza was quite unique and delicious. Spicy crunchy roll was the highlight. All their sushi's were good and fresh. Miso soup was also quite good.Ambience was not very fancy but good.

Came here for lunch on a friend's recommendation and it did not disappoint! The sushi was fresh and the service was top notch. We got seated in the bar area and it's apparently happy hour all day until 5:30pm which is awesome! I got the crispy rolls and California rolls which were both made fresh and fast. My friend got the calamari which was nice and crispy and came on a bed of salad. The price is amazing for how much food you get for a restaurant in Bellevue.Free parking is also validated for 2hrs in the Lincoln Square south garages. Located on the 1st floor right across from Nordstrom Rack.

We have been to Japonessa a few times and always had an outstanding experienced. The food is top notch and the service is excellent. There were two of us. The atmosphere is nice, but comfortable. We started with edamame and a bottle of red (like many sushi places, they feature Sake but have some regular wines). We order the $100 Omakase split between sushi and sashimi. This seemed like a good portion for the two of us. Everything was outstanding. It was a good range, from salmon to tuna to scallops and more. Everything was perfectly fresh. Some pieces had some preparation done like searing--but that was done very well also. We enjoyed every bite. For dessert, that was a real surprise. We had this strawberry mochi cake. It was original and absolutely delicious, great way to finish a fantastic meal
