Best lobster roll I've ever had! Pro Tip: Get the lobster roll big size w/ mayo Note: Can get really busy on weekend/rush hour and they only have outdoor seating Food:Lobster roll 5/5: Get the large size with mayo. Great portion of lobster to bread and mayo ratio

I'm from out of state, looked for a place with good reviews on the lobster rolls and chowder and came to this place and was so disappointed :( $70 for a puny lobster roll and a medium clam chowder (+tip) - which I wouldn't mind if it was good, but it just really was nothing special. I was so shocked as I was eating because the $40 lobster roll was pretty plain and underwhelming. I'm really sorry to make this comparison too, but being so honest when I was eating the chowder I seriously thought it could be canned Progresso soup :(Pro is that there was lots of outdoor seating and the food came out fast but even so - I would not spend my money on this food again!

Coming to Boston, one thing that people consistently told me to try were the lobster rolls. Me being not the biggest lobster enthusiast, tried to go in with a very open mind when we decided to stop at James Hook for some lobster rolls. The area had a main building, a little trailer for ordering, and an outdoor seating area. Ordering was super easy and we got our food very quickly. Something I will note is that lobster is extremely expensive, and a lobster roll could set you back nearly $30. I knew that lobster was expensive but the number really jumps out at you. On one hand I was grateful that the sandwich was filled to the brim with lobster, on the other hand I just didn't think the roll had much flavor. I also wish the bread was maybe toasted but I'm also uneducated on how a lobster roll should be prepared. Take this review with a grain of salt, personally I just wish it had more flavor for the price but I also don't appreciate lobster as much as many do.

Juicy and tasty lobster! Not much parking spaces but tons of sitting tables. Serve was pretty quick and worth the long line. The lobster was perfectly juicy and they do put a good amount in the sandwiches.

It was overall a decent lobster roll. The lobster meat was good and a very good portion for the large but still a hefty price at $39.99.The lobster meat is fresh tasting and not frozen for sure. .The butter wasn't as warm as it should have been IMO. Some of it was already solidifying and it was a hot day. So I'm not sure how the butter is being stored as I did not order the food. The bread was a tad disappointing. It was way too much dough and a bit dry. I know it's just a vessel to hold the lobster meat but I didn't want to eat it at all. I ended up just eating about 1/3 of the bread and it just became more like a bowl/plate.

If you're looking for a nice view with great lobster rolls, look no further! James Hook is the place to check out! Pro tip: if you get there early enough, they do have limited free parking in the back. Try to snag a spot if possible! We came here because we were visiting Boston for a wedding. This place came recommended to us and I totally see why. The lobster rolls aren't necessarily cheap ($40 for large), but they probably fit a whole lobster into the roll! It was packed with lobster meat! The bun was deliciously toasted. Drizzle some butter on the lobster and you'll have yourself a delicious bite! The clam chowder was also delicious. Pair them together and you have yourself an amazing lunch. I'll be back!

I'm not a big lobster fan so I had the clam bisque and cocktail shrimp. Shrimp was fresh and bisque was pretty good. Hubby had a lobster roll and kept commenting how loaded it was. Cute outdoor seating and it's fine for mobile individuals, but noticed a person in a wheelchair having difficulty getting around and staff wasn't very helpful.

This is probably one of the best meals I had during my time in Boston. After completing one of the Cityview tours, I ended up getting off right in front of James Hook & Co. I had walked by this place on previous days and knew it was somewhere I wanted to try the lobster roll. I went inside and ordered a large butter lobster roll and shrimp cocktail. The freshness and quality of what they offer were just amazing. When you walk in, they have the tanks right there, so the freshness is next to unmatched. You are definitely paying a premium for the quality, but it was absolutely worth it, in my opinion.

I found James Hook highly recommended on Reddit and decided to give it a try. The cold lobster roll is served on a sandwich bun, while the warm one comes on a hotdog bun. I much preferred the cold roll because i loveeeee texas toast style buns. The mayo in the cold roll added a nice flavor that complemented the lobster perfectly. The warm lobster roll was decent, but the hotdog bun didn't quite match up to the flavor and texture of the cold roll. The clam chowder was creamy and flavorful, a great addition to the meal.If you're visiting, I'd recommend going for the cold lobster roll for a more flavorful experience!

Lobster Roll with Mayo (5/5): First time having a cold lobster roll and it was fantastic. SO much lobster meat with just a light amount of mayo to add some creaminess. The toasted bun was also buttery and delicious. Very simple, very delicious. RATING SYSTEM5 - Great (Need to get this again)4 - Good (Would get this again)3 - Ok (Might give this another shot)2 - Not Good (Won't get this again)1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)
