Jakes Pup In the Ruf

Went for Chicago dog. Pretty good dog, buried in fries. Poppy seed bun a little weak.Place is a fast order hole in the wall. Lots of options for a fast lunch. Gyros, dogs, tacos etc.$12 for two dogs and a load of fries.You be the judge, if that's a good deal.

I stay approximately a 3-minute walk from Jakes Puff in the Ruff. This is my go-to place when I am in need of a quick delicious meal for the past 5 years. I usually order the cheese fries, and I have never once been disappointed by the proportion size which is plentiful as well as the crispness of the fries. Recently I have gotten into the breakfast special with 3 eggs, hash browns, and sausage that I order with avocado, and cheese which is extra. I must admit while this is a great flavorful breakfast bowl, I hate how the cheese isn't mixed in with the eggs as they simply lay it on top not fully melted especially since I'm paying extra. The service is always hospitable, and they always answer the phone when I call except when it is summer because people are in dire need of their ice cream cones for pickup I guess lol. I just hate the fact that I placed an order for pickup for 2 chicken tacos with cheese, and no tomatoes that I have ordered twice before, and once again the tomatoes were added. It would not be an issue if the taco wasn't a humongous mess. Falling apart like baby back ribs or something with rat droppings of cheese. I am so disappointed, I don't know what to say. Oh, the chocolate shake is good because it's real ice cream but it's so thick make sure to use a spoon.

This place moves fast. I usually get the chicago dog and it has everything that a chicago hot dog needs. It is reallt clean and the service is friendly. Their ice cream is good and creamy (definitely not icy). I will definitely be back again!

Summary: Large portions of pretty average food for value prices. They have a impressively broad menu, but, I am skeptical about how tasty the rest of it is after my first experience. Proceed with caution!Good: Good amount of food for your buck. We ordered a soda, and it was like a 32oz cup. Probably like 4 lbs of food for $20. They have some shaded outdoor seating which was cute and enjoyable.Bad: The chicken had potential, but it seemed like it had say under the heat lamp for a bit. If it was freshly fried, it would have tasted much better. Could have used a little more seasoning too. The fries were pale and undercooked. The chicago dogs had a full round slice of tomato which would just fall off because it wouldn't fit. Also no sport pepper by default :(Ugly: Nothing to note!

We had a snowfall and parking sucks, I eventually lucked out. I love the old school painted and signage windows. And I ordered a 2 hot dog combo with everything, it didn't come with an "included" fountain drink, but I wanted a bottled soda anyway. Don't know My order was made quickly and bonus points for HOT fries. I love it when my fries freshly out of the fryer melts all my dental work. Those must be eaten immediately!!The dogs were a Vienna Beef 8 to 1 dog. Beefy non casing dogs stuffed in a bun that couldn't contain its beefy goodness. The onions were fresh and had a food bite. The tomatoes wasn't cut into halves but I got fresh slices. The pickles were meh Overall it's a solid dog but nothing earth shattering. But it reminds me of a good tasting hot dog place near my house that I grew up with.

Possibly the most unique aspect of "Jake's Pup in the Ruf" eatery is their wide range and variety of items on their menu. You can get gyros, burgers, tacos, chicken tenders, milkshakes, pancakes, wings, pizza, sushi, and so much more. Most people (including myself) would call this a positive attribute --you can please the whole family with a visit to Jakes, but if you have a indecisive bitch of a wife, visiting Jakes can turn into a horrible nightmare.I brought her in to Jakes after we spent a whole day trying to hang this heavy-ass mirror in our living room (we never ended up getting it hung up). We were both sweaty, exhausted, and hungry for some comfort food and I thought Jake's would be a neat spot to check out.We walked in and she was almost immediately overwhelmed by the vastness of the menu. Like clockwork, she starts talking my ear off about all the different options:"Ooo! They have gyros here! I could really go for a gyro! Oh wait! They have nachos here too?! Boy, that sounds good! Honey, look at that! They have cheeseburgers! When was the last time we had a cheeseburger? It's definitely been a couple months! Wait, is that what I think it is?! You can get an omelette here?! I'm not super in the mood for an omelette, but maybe we can come back here for breakfast when we get a chance! That'd be so fun! Sweetie, look! They have tacos! I know how much you love tacos! C'mon, you gotta get the tacos! The beef ones look pretty goo-"I couldn't take her delirious indecisiveness any longer. I had to stop her before she overwhelmed anyone else with her annoying attitude. I finally snapped:"SHUT UP! Shut up! Shut up! Shut your mouth! Give me just one second of peace and quiet! Can you do that?! Is there a single ounce of anything in your body that is telling you to stop yapping to your husband?! If not, there very well should be!!"The staff and other customers grew quiet. Even the music and televisions stopped. Once again, my family has publicly humiliated me.I will give credit where credit is due. Hats off to Jake and all the waitstaff over at "Jake's" for the serviceable service, if it wasn't for my neurotic wife, I'd have fond memories of this place.

Traditional fast food fans, rejoice! Jakes is the mecca of some good quality quick eats, served up by some magnificent people day in and day out. Order the broasted chicken! Some of the greatest affordable chicken I've had in the city, mmm mmm mmm! Above that, they got the classics. They also have literally every other food item you can think of. Tacos? Soup? Elote? Chili? Coffee? Iced coffee? Breakfast items? It's gonna take a minute to try all these items, but I'd be content with accepting that challenge. You're able to order pickup online and order delivery. These guys are always here for me in a pinch. Highly recommend them if you are in the area. Only wish they were open late night, but beggars cannot be choosers!

Beefs, hot dogs, burgers, breakfast sandwiches, tacos, you name it!Jake's has everything under the sun if you're looking for a greasy sandwich type of place. Their sides like fries and onion rings are also great if you're looking for something heavy.They have great combination options as well. Service is always great, the staff here is fun! If you're looking for some quick take out, just call ahead and it should be ready in 15 minutes without a problem.I am excited every time I call in to order. Their consistency is always on point!

Apparently under new ownership - and WOW!! The prices have gone up about 50%, I'm not kidding. And quality is way down. What a joke. We live down the street and are done with this local place that thinks they're serving gold hot dogs!!

Burgers and dogs are just OK and buns are cheap and fall apart.Food in general is typically greasy and over fried.Fast service and moderate pricing.
