Yamasaki

Heard great reviews between food, and ambiance. Had dinner there last night: angry dragon; and fire dragon. The rice on the roll was like paste. Couldn't decipher any grain of rice as the whole thing was paste. The service and the front desk was absolutely accommodating and engaging. Very good service. It would have been better if the food was good. Either it was an off night; or they are still getting their rhythm going; or perhaps that's just the way they serve it and customers like it. I didn't care for pastey rice .Good addition to the neighborhood - just not going to be a choice for me. Wishing them luck .

I was so excited to try the new addition of Yamasaki to the beaches area. Upon arrival we were sat as requested at the sushi bar. Taking the last 2 seats. The bar was full but most were finishing their meals and left within 15 minutes. The bar was almost empty and the dining area had a few tables.We waited for about 7 minutes before being greeted by a server who asked if we wanted water. Off she went. Arriving with water and taking out drink orders. 2 draft beers fairly easy order for a restaurant that was not busy. We are now the only people at the sushi bar. Time passed before the beers arrived. We ordered 4 rolls and Miso Soup. Almost finishing our beer the soup arrived.We ordered another beer and the wait began. We waited and waited watching 4 sushi chefs preparing their craft. After 1hr and 12 minutes we inquired about our food. Being advised that they were working on it we requested our bill. It was late and we were hungry.Who I suspect was the manager began arguing with me about the time we had been waiting. He was not nice and argumentative. We paid the bill and left to find food. After arriving home I was looking at receipts which confirmed my argument. Time stamped receipts from time 1st beer order entered until time of payment transaction90 minutes total for receiving 4 beers and 1 bowl of Miso Soup.Very disappointing. There are many Sushi choices at the beach with far better service!

I have been reading about this place since it opened and finally had an opportunity to visit. We were greeted and sat immediately. They have lunch specials till 3pm. There is a variety of wine, beer and cocktails, and o course variations of sake. The beer was cold and crisp. We ordered Gyosa and spring rolls for an appetizer. Wow, we knew we were in the right place. Started off with freshness and fabulous. Salina took such good care of our needs. She was an amazing server. We ordered for our entrees teriyaki steak and mine was the lunch special that was sushi and sashimi. My husband said the steak was cooked to perfection and tasted well seasoned. My sushi was so fresh and just obviously well picked out for perfection. I got a crispy salad with a wonderful ginger dressing. The ambiance was superb perfectly done with the lighting as well as the music. As our meal was coming to an end we met the owner who came and greeted us. He was truly interested in finding out the good and bad of our experience. This visit is one I will make again. I highly recommend for anyone to give it a shot. You will be so glad that you did.

While eating at Yamasaki you honestly do not feel like you are in Jacksonville and Benny and Neil make you feel like you are part of their family. I absolutely love love love this place I recommend everybody grab your family and come because this is going to be one of those once in a lifetime experiences that you will bring your family back for more

Sushi is surprisingly delicious!! Service is wonderful as well. I went there with low expectations but the quality was amazing. I ordered the 10 pcs sushi omakase and the fish came directly from Japan Tsukiji Fish Market. It reminded me as I was eating it in Japan. I'm a sushi lover. This place is one of my favorites spot for sushi from now on.

This is a wonderful new addition to the area. It's a bit more pricey than other sushi restaurants around, but the high-end ingredients are worth the price. The service was attentive and exceptional. The miso soup hands-down is the best I ever had. The owner, Benny, is engaging and is ready to answer any questions you may have. I will definitely return and bring friends!

Been here a total of 4 times, we found a close by sushi restaurant with good quality seafood and drinks!! Definitely a great atmosphere, with great staff and a great manager. A new gem on Atlantic Blvd

The food was fabulous. Go give this new place a try. The service was quick and the restaurant is nicely decorated. My only complaint was that the music was too loud.

Just went to Yamasaki in Atlantic Beach. It was great! Very nice decor, great service. They have vegan gyoza, and the spring rolls are vegan. The spring rolls come with a delicious vegan sauce - I kept it for my veggies, so good! They have several vegan sushi rolls, but I didn't try them. I had the tofu teriyaki- the tofu was soft inside, crispy outside- doesn't sound great, but it was! Served with nicely smoky veggies and a side of teriyaki sauce. I had steamed rice, but the owner (i think) said they can veganize the fried rice. My husband shared the appetizers and liked them very much, and had the teriyaki salmon with fried rice - he said the salmon was done perfectly, and he loved the fried rice. The entrees had plenty of food. The owner came by twice to make sure we enjoyed the food. He was very knowledgeable about what vegan means, so helpful. Highly recommend!
