Yah Suh Nice Jamaican Cuisine

What a breathe of fresh air just waking into Yah Suh Caribbean restaurant on Baymeadows rd. The dining room was very open and inviting.There were people eating in the dining room as well as people ordering. The prices are reasonable but you are nickled and dimed for everything not steamed rice and cabbage which comes with the entrees. I ordered curry goat and wifey ordered the oxtail. Both were large portion. I did carry out which took less than 15 minutes. Cabbage was flavorful. The rice was fresh. The curry goat simply melted in my mouth. The pxtails were cooked nicely but there was a bit of fat ont pieces of oxtail. No matter. Everthing looked amazing. This was my first time here and will not be the last!

There will be plenty of music when you come through the door! The staff will be there to greet you at the counter and make you aware of any changes. Today they were out of a few things that I specifically came for. But no worries because I opted for curry goat. Amazing choice I must say. The meat was tender and flavorful. Spice level was just enough and, those were the best plantains I've had in a while. I couldn't forget my Jamaican pineapple soda. They have plenty of other refreshments to choose from as well. The chef will make sure they show you your food prior to wrapping it up. Satisfaction is the goal. My last star is reserved for the missing items I couldn't get today however I'll be back soon! Give them a try!

This place is a hidden gem. Food was cooked to order and very tasty. It took a bit to cook but that's the price you pay for a wonderful meal. While waiting I did order a beef patty and coco bread. The gentleman was able to warm the bread, so warm and soft it was perfect! The food speaks for itself and the place was very clean. Friendly staff

If you're looking for the best Jamaican food in Jax, you'll have to venture over to the baymeadows are! Tucked in an unassuming strip mall, you're going to find the Jamaican cuisine in town. I've had the pleasure of trying their brown stew chicken and oxtail. Both dishes are so packed with flavor and absolute home runs. Their chicken lunch specials are super affordable and their portions are very generous. They've recently added beef and chicken pattys to their menu. Support local and give these guys some love!

So it's with a heavy heart that I must report--I tried Yah again and it appeared to be a completely different Curry Shrimp than that of which I absolutely loved! To my dismay it was actually as pictured on their menu with broccoli, carrots and apparently cauliflower. The shrimp were sparse and SUBSTANTIALLY SMALLER THAN MY PREVIOUS ORDER --and while I understand Variety is the SPICE of life...there should be a standard and consistency with a restaurant so that a patron is not playing a guessing game with the dish they order. If anyone reading my previous review had this dish --it would seem I'm-' clueless to what absolute delish cuisine looks and tastes like. The veggies were overcooked and while the flavor was good all the other things truly put a damper on the overall entree's appeal. I'm hesitant to try again because I'm not sure which Curry shrimp I will receive. The version minus overcooked broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and minuscule shrimp would be my preference. Sincerely disappointed and annoyed I wasted my money. Proceed with caution with this establishment.

My wife, friend and I were in Jacksonville for a baseball tournament and we had a taste for some good Jamaican food. When we did our Google and Yelp searches, Yah Suh Nice came up as one of the Top 10 Jamaican restaurants in Jacksonville so we drove 10 miles to give it a try and we weren't disappointed. I had brown stewed chicken, my wife had ox tails and our friend had curry chicken ! The food came out in about 10 minutes and it was steaming hot and delicious. I would rate their customer service a 5/5 because the owner who took our orders was very personable, friendly and professional. I also would rate the food a 5/5 and the atmosphere a 5.When we are in Jacksonville again, we will definitely return to Yah Suh Nice again!Stephan Paul Douglasville, GA

We ordered the following:Jerk ChickenOxtail Curry ShrimpBrown Stew ChickenBeef PattiesChicken PattiesFestivalCabbageRice and PeasPlantains Please note I placed the order online and some of the items I originally requested were not available (Rasta Pasta and Curry Coconut Fish). They were kind enough to call and let me know as soon as the order went through and offered me items to swap. I definitely know now if I place a large order to call ahead to ensure the items I want are available. The owner is so very sweet and whatever magic touch she has goes into every dish! Coconut milk undertones and perfectly seasoned in every bite! The young man at the register was a joy to chat with while I waited! Please go check them out - you won't be disappointed!(My family devoured their food as soon as I brought it home so I didn't even get pictures )

first time there, can't believe we waited this long. i had the jerk chicken, wife had the fried chicken. these were the medium portions! love the food!

Went in during the evening before closing. The atmosphere was very chill. Food was ready in roughly 7 minutes. The gentleman at the register was really nice. The oxtail was so tender and nice could use a little more spice but the rice was fluffy and very well portioned. I love a cabbage that has a bit of crunch too. I will definitely be returning.8.5/10
