Volcano Sushi House

Volcano Sushi House is a solid spot for fresh, delicious sushi. I tried the Mango and Salmon Roll, Florida Roll, Dragon Roll, and Kani Spicy Salad, and everything was flavorful and well-prepared. The service was excellent, with a waitress who paid attention to every detail. The restaurant was nicely decorated and lite. There was soft music playing to cover other conversations taking place. The place settings were nicely displayed with new menus from the last time I was there. They also offer a whole menu with a wide range of saki and beers for a special treat. Overall, I'd rate it 4 out of 5 and will definitely be coming back!

We enjoyed our meal again. We shared the chicken katsu lunch combo. It's borderline enough for me and my wife, who has a small appetite. We liked all the food, but preferred the chicken teriyaki we got last time to the katsu. I liked the tempura shrimp best. My wife liked the fried rice and shrimp tempura best. The broccoli tempura exceeded expectations. My wife would have liked more rice, however, and when we ordered a bowl of plain rice it was highway robbery at $3. This contrasts with the good deal we think $13 is for the combo. There was no slice of cake after the meal this time. With tax and tip and the extra rice, we paid just over $20. Areas for improvement: the faucet in the men's room needs repair, as the flow is too low. Perhaps the music could be a bit quieter, though it's not loud, to ease conversation. Our waitress is good, but this time could have been there sooner when we wanted to order so that we could comfortably fit lunch into my wife's work break. My wife expressed interest in the kid's meals, for the future, if they're available for any age.We'll return.

The food here is very fresh (for the sushi) and VERY well spiced for their cooked foods. My friends ordered a lot of sushi, as expected since you're going to a sushi restaurant. I ordered their chicken hotplate OMG IT WAS SO GOOD. They do a pepper based teriyaki, which is sweet but not overpowering so. It's like a pepper steak sauce. Absolutely spectacular. We also tried their gyoza, which was perfectly cooked, but the bottom could be a little crunchier at the bottom, but still very good. Not sure if it's prepackaged though. Service was mostly on the slow end. We went on a Tuesday at 6pm and there weren't a lot of people but our food still took a super long time to come out. I can't be sure how many to go orders there were, but there were only 3 tables of people including us. The sushi came out in like 20min, a friends soup dish and katsu dishes came out in 30min, and hot plates came.out everyone already finished their food, so it was very difficult to all eat together since sushi friends wanted to leave while I hadn't gotten my food. But other than that the people were quite nice.Ambience here is interesting. It feels like an Asian cheesecake factory. It's clean and quirky. They also have this super cool humidifier in the back they have with smoke and light to make it look like fire. Super cool.Overall, a great time. Just be prepared to wait a long time for your food. And have patient friends if some of you like sushi and others like cooked dishes.

This place has come to be a go-to for my partner and I. I realized the other day I'd never left a review, and was so mad at myself about it! Volcano is the best sushi restaurant in the area, hands down. Every time, we are treated like family, and the food is exceptional. I eat here about twice a month or more, but never less. Their lunch menu is hard to beat, and they're so fast. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, and their vibes are immaculate. Time and time again, they never disappoint. Next time you're looking to go try some delicious sushi, come here. Prices are average, and the quality of the fish is SO good!

I tried this location and was looking forward But the food was bland my sushi roll i couldn't finish it ,are salads were missing the dressing on the side so kind of disappointed o by the way I ordered online and went for pick up

Did takeout for seven. All food was what we ordered and so delicious. We had rolls, sashimi, and sushi as well as noodles with chicken. Will be going back for more.

We were greeted and seated by our server Zhanna. She was a consummate professional and exceptionally pleasant to chat with. I had skipped lunch and really wanted to try their hibachi. It did not disappoint. The steak and shrimp were cooked to perfection. The vegetables had a very unique flavor that was delicious. The soup, fried rice and noodles rounded out a perfect meal. The exterior of the restaurant is just a typical strip mall, but the interior was immaculate with a touch of modern elegance. Everything combined to make this a superb experience.

First visit to Volcano on Hodges. The restaurant is nothing fancy and on the smaller size. However, they do have some comfortable booths. We were told to seat our selves & chose a comfy booth near the small sushi bar. It took quite a while to see a server but she did apologize for the delay when she did come over. My dining companions both chose a dinner that came with soup or salad & 3 rolls. The rolls were spicy tuna spicy California & spicy salmon. They said all three were nicely spiced & fresh. I had the spicy Mexican & a specialty soft shell crab ( forget the name sorry) . Both were very good. We also had vegetable Goyza. I thought they could have had some more filling & needed more flavor. Overall, this is a good neighborhood place for sushi but I don't think I'd take the 30 minute trip to return as there are so many other places to try.

I've written less reviews than I can count on one hand, but this restaurant was great. I've found very few places in Jacksonville with sushi or hibachi as good as Volcano and I've had a lot of both. We got a gold armor roll, a tuna avocado roll (paid to deep-fry) and chicken hibachi. I will definitely visit again.

Love this place!! We went for my brother's birthday, I am not a fan of sushi but they had so many other options to choose from. The atmosphere was excellent. The food tasted amazing, I got Japanese fried rice with steak(pictured). Everyone there was so nice and accommodating. The food came out pretty fast. After we were done eating, we were offered these little cakes which were also amazing. I will definitely be returning
