We came here after reading the reviews on yelp. This is tucked back in a mostly vacant shopping center behind the new Chick-Fil-AIt's very small inside and only has about 10 tables, but they have nice anime paintings on the wallsI wasn't sure which of 2 udons to get so i asked my server and she recommended the umami kare udon - it's basically a soupless udon with brisket. My husband went with a Shoya Ramen, which had pork belly.I had never had udon before, and the flavors were fabulous. The brisket melted in your mouth and I would definitely order that again although I will probably try the other option I was torn between. My husband's Shoya Ramen had The pork belly. He let me try it. I'm not a fan of the texture of basically raw pork fat. The Ramen itself was very good.My husband likes spicy so they served an oil that you put in your food. That two drops is enough to spice up your whole bowl. I asked for a side of that to go home and she stated it was a chili oil that they add their own ingredients to. I'm glad I found this place. I will certainly be back.

This was our first time with Umami Curry. We normally order in but decided on eating out and trying a new place nearby. Rainy day = soup. The atmosphere was cool albeit small, and the food was INSANELY delicious. I had the Shoyu Ramen with Chicken Katsu instead of pork and my fiancé raved about the brisket in his Curry Ramen. The only thing that sucked was the customer service. And that's just to us. I'm sure the others in the restaurant would disagree. There was one server and she was engaging with every single other customer, checking and re-checking on the table directly next to us + at the bar and every single person who walked in.There was a lot of talking but absolutely no words for us except to take our order and say goodbye before rushing back to the conversations she was having with the rest of the restaurant. We were invisible. If we returned, it would be strictly TO GO for the food because we're otherwise never dining in again.

When my friend asked me if I wanted to join her for dinner at Umami, it was an immediate YES! We've both had UC on our Must Try lists for a while, so we were elated when it completely lived up to the hype. I got the Curry Tonk Ramen which includes a pork-based curry broth, pork belly, & a soft boiled egg. It was fantastic! If you like both tonkotsu ramen & curry, you will love this! And for those who like it hot, there is a spicier version as well. In a surprise to none of my foodie friends who frequent Umami, the owner Gus stopped by our table to check on us. He was so kind & appreciative of us stopping in.

I got the fried ebi and aka tonkotsu curry ramen and both were really great. I haven't had a curry style ramen like this, it was super unique and delicious. The owners talked to me for a bit and they were super nice. We talked about food in Orlando where I'm from, and shared recommendations. One thing that stood out was, it seemed like everyone was a regular.. which is awesome. The owners were asking about people's families and loved ones, and welcoming people in as if they were friends and family. I went in feeling like a stranger, and left feeling like a friend. Truly unique food, and extremely friendly environment. Can't recommend this place enough!

Umami Curry is definitely on the top 5 of the best ramen places in Jacksonville! Not to mention the owners and staff are incredibly nice and gracious! They are the first restaurant in Jacksonville to serve Japanese curry and also, in my opinion, the best one! We have been here several times and they are one of the few places that serves consistently delicious dishes. Their braised beef brisket was cooked for 12 hours and you can really taste the depth of the flavors in every bite! Plus paired it with the curry, mind blowing! Only wish we live close by. Always a dining pleasure!

Food - Wow, oh wow. My son and I were out to try something new and Umami Curry fit the bill. The restaurant is small, maybe ten tables and service that is both friendly and efficient. The location is in a near empty shopping center, across from Winn Dixie, so parking is not an issue. But the food, what about the food?????????Ebbi - friend shrimp that I can only describe as DELICIOUS. Takoyski - IFYKYK, good version served very hot. Curry Ramen - 12 hour roasted brisket over a plate of vegetables, pickles, fried potatoes and noodles. But the flavors is umami and it is delicious. Udon Ramen - same brilliant flavor of curry, just served with thick udon noodles. This is my preferred version. Dessert - the desserts are light, not my favorite but by this point I was plum full but there are some interesting flavor options including Matcha. Definitely worth a drive.

I've come here twice for the curry ramen. It is amazing! The flavor is incredible and the portion sizes are large. I've tried a few of the apps and they were pretty tasty too. But this is the best curry ramen I've probably ever had, so I will definitely continue to come back!

This was our first time here. My husband isn't a fan of ramen soups and even he liked it. We got the tonk soup it was amazing. This might sound strange but even the water was good. The bathrooms were clean and the waitress was nice but rushing around & she missed that we wanted to order an appetizer as she rushed away too soon. You have to pull up the menu on your phone which I am not a fan of but the food is excellent and we will be back.
