Twisting Roots

I knew about Twisting Roots from their previous brick and mortar restaurant Cultural Kitchen near San Marco. When I saw the food truck at the Porchfest, I was excited!! I tried a shrimp and veggie taco with sweet plantains. OMG the guava sauce and the sweet plantains were so perfect. This truck serves Puerto Rican food with Southern influences. My fried shrimp were also plump and juicy in the taco. My friend loved her pork tacos and I tried one of her tostones which was also delicious! The service was friendly from the woman working the cash register to the young man serving the tacos out of the truck. They had a variety of sandwiches, tacos, sides, and even a chicken tender basket that my friend enjoyed. Her fries were seasoned really well too. 5 stars. I will absolutely keep an eye out for this delicious food truck again in the future!

Twisting roots was at my apartment complex and I thought I give it a try, and boy am I glad I did! I tried their "Twisted Roots" w/their homemade chips and a side order of sweet plantains. It was DELICIOUS! The sandwich was a good size, and although, I'm not a huge fan of arugula, it went well with the sandwich.. and partially because I didn't mind it because

I was able to try the vegan jackfruit for the first time since I began eating as a vegan since last I ate at this truck. The canoa with triple meat is the way to go for sure if you eat meat. The vegan canoa was great with jackfruit. For my taste I don't think it needs extra sweetness from the sauces since it is on a sweet plantain already. I would adjust the sweetness of the sauces for the vegan option. The yucca fries are the same as you get in the area. Frozen and about 6 for $4. I would like to see a signature sauce for o go with them since everyone in St A does a coconut sauce which is too sweet. I think a mayo-ketchup would be perfect.

Massive menu. Settled on the Twist Roots. The sandwich was filling, but it was quite pricy in my opinion. However it was very flavorful! Sweet plantains were alright - Didn't finish it. Sauce went great with the sandwich and plantains. This lunch set me back $17 minus tip. Ouch.

My new favorite sandwich, the Drunken Bull from is the perfect combination of flavors. The slow roasted pulled beef and bourbon sauce on a soft ciabatta roll is outstanding then topped with fried onions and sweet plantains is a match made in heaven.We also tried the yucca, sweet plantains and fries for sides and we enjoy them all throughly. I definitely will be back for more.

Twisted Root really caught me off guard and in the best way. When coming to the food trucks I saw their name and figured it was going to a vegetarian or vegan food truck but boy was I wrong. They have meat and seafood!!!I ordered the Sea Biscuit which is a fried shrimp sandwich with a tasty sauce, cole slaw, and fried onions. This sandwich was amazing! One of the best shrimp sandwiches I have ever had. The bread was perfect, the Yum Yum Saucce was delicious and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The sandwich also came with fries which were also amazing. They had an amazing seasoning on them and I could eat them all day. Amazing food truck and I can't wait for them to be back.

Not a good experience. Waited 10 min in line to place an order, $12 for a sandwich (with no side).Waited another 15 min for the food to be ready, Super dry pork, almost inedible, complete waste of money:

994TWISTING ROOTS was at Kanine Social and I was hungry. I didn't want bread so I ordered the loaded fries with chicken. The order was over $10 and was a shareable item it was so big. The chicken was generous and the sauce was spicy sweet and nice over the crispy fries. I now have lunch for the next day also.. :)

That was seriously amazingggg! So much flavor! Good job guys! Looking forward to trying something new next time, great menu items to choose from.

Such a disappointing experience. We rarely patron food trucks, but this one was at an event we were attending. We ordered the chicken taco plate, a shrimp taco plate and a side of plaintains. The worker said for $2 more we could make it 2 tacos plus a side. We agreed and paid + tip. We received 1 plate instead of 2. We let the same woman know that this was incorrect, that we ordered 2 plates. She instructed us to wait while she got the 2nd plate. 10 minutes later she called us to the window to say that she did not charge us for the 2nd plate. I assured her she did, and added all the charges for her. She then changed the price from what was listed on the menu board and said that the combo plate was $14. I pointed out to her that was not what her menu says and in fact the #14 did not even appear anywhere on the menu. Another customer behind me also told her the same. We left with our food that now only fed half our party, only to find that we had half cooked fries and undercooked plantains. The buzz at the event amongst the crowd was how deceitful these Twisted Roots staff were and everyone saying they felt cheated by them.
