Top Dawg Tavern - Jacksonville

I've been coming here for more than a year now -- usually with my (small) alumni group. The food here has always been decent and, in recent months, has seemingly even improved. Recently, I've really been enjoying the pretzel as an appetizer, which always comes out steaming hot with great mustard and cheese sides for dipping. Both the fried pickles and the fried green beans are also good.I don't have a huge number of entrée options as someone who doesn't really eat meat, but I've found their salads to be well made and hearty. I also like getting their fried green tomato BLT (hold the B). Their fries are always hot and fresh, too.Service is always friendly, and management has been super accommodating of our small events. It's a really solid place to catch a game.

We came in during the Sunday Brunch. I decided to try the blue cheese burger. It was just average in flavor and had very little blue cheese. Both the sandwich and sides were small portions for the price. It has a nice bar with good collection of drinks, although our mimosa was definitely not 16 ounces as advertised for the Sunday special. We sat outside on the patio and it was fairly comfortable. Service was friendly but a bit slow.

We are here last night for dinner. I ordered boneless wings and a side Cesar, both were good, nothing to complaint about, the whole experience was a solid 4/5. The waitress was nice, the drinks were fine, they had a ton of tvs for watching football.This kids meal was $5, so I ordered 2 because my toddler can eat, but when it came out it was a normal kids meal portion. I loved that they made it kid friendly and cost efficient . The staff was 5/5, everything else was a reliable 4/5. It would be a good neighborhood spot if we were closer.

This was our first time in and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and food. It was a Thursday and during happy hour so we had some wine and cold draft beer for a good price. There was also live music from 6-9. We started with the fried green tomatoes which had really good flavor. The apps were also $9 on Thursday. I had the traditional wings and my wife had the BBQ Bacon Chicken in a wrap. The wings were a good size and cooked crispy. The sauce does have a slight kick to it which I like. I had the sweet potato fries which were pretty standard although they do give you apple butter which is like a dessert. The BBQ wrap was a bit greasy and had a ton of bacon in it. Our server was great and actually brought us another wrap. The flavor of the wrap was really good. The Mac and cheese was not bad but nothing to promote. The service throughout our dinner was great. We will be back and this might be our new spot for casual food with a happy hour, live music and sports!

Great atmosphere lots of seating inside & out. Good wings,sliders, the chicken tenders & soft pretzel is so so good! Lots of TV screens for sports. We love ti hang with our Marylanders Raven Roost here. Staff is nice. They have some specials through out the week. Drink specials...

I have been to Top Dawg twice. Once last fall for a Marshall U game watching and most recently for a Ravens game watching. For the college game, there were roughly 15-20 in my party. They gave us the semi private room at the end of the bar, which was nice because it was easier to walk around and talk to each other. On this visit, I had a seltzer and ordered chicken tenders. The tenders were hot and tasty.For the NFL game, we took over the bar, which included the tables and bar, with roughly 40 in the party. On this visit, I had a white Russian and ordered the Angus burger with Swiss cheese with a side salad instead of fries (no upcharge). They forgot my toppings, lettuce, tomato and onion. When the server brought them to me, she also gave me an order of fries. And the fries were crispy, hot and yummy! Plus the burger was juicy and delish.Service was a little slow, but both times I was there with a large crowd, and the restaurant was busy in general. The servers were friendly and the manager walked around asking if everyone was good. That shows they care about service!I'll be back for more football fun in the fall!

This is a solid sports bar. Decent beer choices, food was good, although I got onion rings with the burger instead of fries and they were a little skimpy with the onion rings. She was a little cold inside the bar. They had the windows open for the outside dining which kept the AC running, but I was comfortable. Service was friendly and pretty quick. Lot's of TV's which is the main reason we went. I'd go again when looking for a particular game.

So we were last minute trying to pick where to go to grab dinner and drinks and we saw that Top Dawg was still on Happy Hour plus it was Triple Threat Thursdays so they had even more specials so we finally checked them out. We were quickly seated and were given menus and specials. With Triple Threat Thursdays they do $4 drafts, $6 Wine or Sangria, and $8 Any Appetizer. We ordered drinks and after looking over the number of options we decided for the price appetizers were the way to go. I went with the BBQ Nachos which come with Barbecue pork or chopped brisket, cheese, sour cream, scallions, jalapenos, tomatoes and salsa. I of course went with brisket and for only $8 it was a steal right?.... Our food came out within about 10 minutes and the first thing I noticed was the lack of brisket and also toppings in general. They did have a lot of BBQ Sauce on them but in my opinion that's want it needed the least of. The amount just made them too sweet and overpowered everything else. It didn't help either that my buddy also got BBQ Nachos but his came with an extra topping then mine.... A big hair! Honestly the food just isn't good and I would never come back and pay full price for the food but at $8 and I guess you get what you pay for so could be worth it when some of them normally priced are double what they ask on Triple Threat Thursdays. Would probably just stick the drinks here for the time being if anything.

I went with my wife and a friend to watch March Madness. I like the layout with the bar. They can serve the dinning room side and the patio side from the same bar. They have those big garage doors to close it up if the weather's not good. If you have kids there is also a kids area. I'm not sure what's back there, but it looked like a little room that projects images on the floor.I wasn't too hungry but the girls started with an order of fried pickles. They are pickle spears, which I don't think they were expecting, but they both liked them. I got an order of 10 Caribbean jerk bone in chicken wings. They were nice and crisp on the outside and the meat wasn't dried out. I've never fried chicken wings before but for some reason some places can't get that right. The jerk is a dry rub. I give it a 3 on a 1-10 spicy scale. I think there is sugar in the rub so there's a hint of sweet. I asked for a side of the habanero sauce to give it a little more kick. My got some kind of grilled chicken wrap. She thought it would be heated or toasted but it was served cold. She still liked it. My wife really liked the atmosphere. I'd I could make one suggestion I would say add a few more items on the menu that aren't fried. It's not too far from the house so I'm sure we'll be back.

Usually good. This is my go to since I've moved to Bartham. Not today. They skimped on all dishes. Where's my steak?
