Attended the Jim Furyk and Friends PGA golf tournament. The club house was nice with an old style private club feel on the river. There are private meeting rooms, a lovely dining room and an outdoor pool. Lots of trophies and pictures, starting in the 1920s, adorn the walls. The course is well kept. The trees are old with Spanish moss, and there are lots of pine trees, some water and an adequate number of bunkers. The atmosphere is relaxing. The people are friendly.

Attended the Furyk & Friends Constellation Seniors' tournament this weekend at Timuquana Golf Course. It was well set up and managed and a real pleasure for viewing. Great, up close viewing of a large number of crowd favorites. Great concessions set up - party porch had viewing of Par 3 hole 7, tee box and green for 2 other holes. Easy access by shuttle from Target parking lot. We were also able to bike in several days. Bike parking and walk in access could be improved next year. The course was in beautiful shape and fun to walk.

This is a private country club so unless you're a member you won't be playing here anytime soon. I'm not a member but I won a foursome package at a charity auction so I had a temporary entry in. I called ahead to the pro shop to schedule a tee time. Whoever I spoke to at the time was very courteous and asked when I wanted to play with my group so I offered up a Friday morning a few weeks out and a mid morning start time. Thought we were all set and shared the information with the boys. We arrived a little early on our big day and checked in with the pro shop. There was some confusion that morning in that they don't take tee times and didn't have us listed in the books anywhere. Uggh, not good! I now have 4 anxiety stricken middle aged men to try and reassure everything was under control. Thankfully the pro could read the angst on our faces and was very helpful to right the ship. He kindly accepted my paperwork and guided us out to the starter who would get us in line between waiting members. I was pleased that the starters also strictly enforced the attire rules and guided a couple of my boys to tuck their shirts in which gets overlooked at a lot of the clubs around town. After all, you are on the westside of Jacksonville folks. We hit the links and not surprised the course was in pristine and beautiful shape. The tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens were all just perfect. Some of the greens were undulated making them more challenging. There's plenty of long holes and hazards around the course to challenge the best of golfers. I hope you know a member or win your own charity auction to give you a chance to get out on this exquisite course right here in Jacksonville. It's either Jax's oldest or second oldest golf club.

Finest round in Jacksonville. Legend has it that world #1 David Duval was conceived behind the 13th green. A true Ross classic design and a respectful ode to us Native Americans.

They cancelled 3 schools' outdoor graduation dinner events just a couple days before the events. Our school's event was on the books for weeks, arrangements made, and they even had our organizer choosing tablecloths the week prior. Then, 2 days before the event was to happen, despite getting the okay from the MAYOR, they cancelled the event! Why? Because one of the board members "didn't FEEL comfortable" having the outdoor event at the club, despite all the social distancing precautions taken and the fact that the club could host INDOOR events at full capacity 4 days later. That's the claim, but I suspect there wasn't enough money in kids' graduation for this establishment once they got the okay to host wedding receptions and other big money makers. This place can't be trusted.
