First time here and trails were nice. Not a place to go if you're looking for long trails or to spend more than 1-2 hrs. There's a few different loops but even all of them together, it doesn't take very long. The trails are well kept and the paths are pretty clear. The wooden boardwalk areas were very slippery from rain the night before. My dog and I slid multiple times. I wish they would add some traction or something because that was a big downfall. The bathrooms by the Nature Center were closed due to vandalism which was a shame. The facilities looked nice otherwise. The view from the tower was very pretty. Didn't take long to get there at all (maybe 20 mins) and it would be easy for kids of all ages and families. Great place to get out for a short family hike. I also saw bikers on the trail as well!

Westside doesn't always catch a break - but they did with Tillie Fowler.Directly across from NAS Jax main entrance, Tillie offers a wide variety of recreational amenities; Great hiking trails, picnic spots, wetlands overlook, and playground are just the start. There's also a pretty good nature center & small amphitheater where local naturalists put on demonstrations, talks and guided hikes. We brought our scout dens here several times.Nowadays, I come for the mountain bike trails. While it's not a huge park, they pack quite a bit into it. Trails for riders of all aptitude's css as n find some to fit their abilities. SORBA Jax builds features and maintains the trails, Trail Boss Patricio has added some great features, a jump line, several drops and a pump track. It's a great place to practice or just get some cardio time.

Great park! The 1 mile loop is a quick walk, about half way yo"" find the 2 story look out into a marsh with picturesque views. The paths were clearly marked and easy to follow. Parts of the trail are dirt, some stairs and a few wooden bridges. The 2.5 mile path was washed out and under water, I was able to complete about 1.25 of that loop. This park is dog friendly, must be on a leash. The paths are flat other than a few roots from trees, definitely an easy hike. They have 2 dog parks that are pretty overgrown and unused.

We decided to get out and explore a new park today- the front gate is very impressive and you drive back about half to 3/4 mile to the park. There is an impressive playground and 2 dog parks- one for big dogs and one for little dogs. There are bike trails, hiking trails, pavilions, picnic tables and science center (that was closed).I love hiking through the woods- and this park has dense woods and wetlands that is beautiful. The three stars- which is very unlike me for any park- is because the boardwalks all need replacing. There's good reason the observation tower is closed- everything out there is rotted. The park opened in the 90's and it wouldn't surprise me if the boardwalks are original. Next to the science center looks to be a overgrown butterfly garden. There is an archway and a scraggly path- on the other side of the building the path is barely recognizable and the other archway falling down and rotted. There were plenty of dog families out and about and regular families too (with kids) & more than one photographer. Other than the lizard and butterflies- we didn't see any wildlife. I did appreciate the more than 100 year old original brick road that ran from downtown to NAS Jax base. That too was water logged with recent rains or I would have detoured off the boardwalk and enjoyed the brick road for a bit. I would love to see some TLC given to this park. There is plenty of good at this park- but needs a little money and hard work to help it out.

Nice park tucked away off of the highway near NAS Jacksonville. There are 2 short walking trails and also a 2.5 mile off-road mountain bike trail. Playground area with a pavilion and several picnic tables. There's also a small dog park. Worth the distance, especially if you're practicing social distancing and need to get some greasy air.

Driving inside Tillie K Fowler Park may seem like an average park to you but it actually offers a lot more than expected. Like most parks, Tillie has a Playground, Picnic Tables and Shelters, Grills, and Bathrooms. But additionally, Tillie has a fenced-in Dog Park and multiple Hiking/Biking Trails. And if you are a Mountain Bike enthusiast like me, there are enough trails to sow your royal biking needs. This park offers a novice trail called WKC Trail that loops for a combined 2.5 miles. Within the WKC, you will run into other trails, an Intermediate trail called Nipsy Daiser, 1.5 mile trail and an Advanced Trail called Hoosker Doo. Hoosker Doo is a short trail but advanced enough to gas you by the time you complete the trail. Also, Hoosker Doo carries 3 technical wooden ramps, so heed caution when approaching these ramps. One false move or one angle taken and you will come flying off your bike. I would like to note that the trails in this area of the park are very well maintained and manicured, to the point that you can actually see everything around you, see riders pass or coming by, and for the most part, it is not riddled or overrun by vegetation. On the other side of this park, there is a 2.25 mile trail called Island Trail (also called Island Loop), which is a single track trail, along with other smaller trails that meets into the Island Loop trail. This is a single track trail that is perfect for stamina conditioning. One downside about this trail is at times, it can get overrun by vegetation and needs to be manicured. Away from Island Loop entrance is the Tower Trail, which is 1.2 miles. Alot of hikers also take this trail because it is a scenic trail. The trail eventually leads to the Observation Tower, a cool 2 story tower that overlooks the park, great for selfies and pictures. Another fun part about Tillie K Fowler Park is during the Fall Season (or colder months), local bike shops such as Open Road Cycles would host an event called Full Moon Night Rides. The ride starts around 7pm-ish at night during a Full Moon event, which practically brightens up the trails. Of course, proper bike lighting is still highly recommended. At one point, up to 75 riders were in attendance for this cool event. Some major bicycle companies holds their DEMO bike events at Tillie, where you can ride their bikes inside the park for free. The only take away I see for this park is the amount of feral cats that is populating within the park. These cats pose no harm to anyone and at times, patrons will come inside the park to feed these cats. But these cats are certainly multiplying. MTB bikers jokingly call this park "Kitty Fowler". =) Overall, the best part about Tillie K Fowler Park is it's free to the public (no admission fee required) and it is also adjacent and nearby to a seafood restaurant called JL Trent's Seafood, where you can get some grub if you have developed some hunger.

It was nice for a place to walk or ride your bike but it didn't have much else. When I took my son there as an infant there was way more to do. What I would like to see is in addition to more playground toys would be activities to do along the walking paths. I've seen some parks where they have like challenges every 1/4 mile.

Okay I'm a little jaded from spending 9 weeks in he mountains but this is a really pretty park. It's near the highway but far enough away that you feel like you're in the real woods ;-) There are a couple nice hiking paths and a cool overlook. It's better than taking a walk in your neighborhood! We saw a ton of colorful mushrooms and found a snake skin which was pretty neat. The tree canopy is pretty and colorful. Pet friendly-There's a leash law if you bring your pup make sure to bring it's leash. The boardwalks are nice and there's even a brick road with a bit of a cool history but I won't tell you...you'll have to go visit to see for yourself! There's also a park for the kids to play on toward the front. Trails are all the way in the back. Go check it out!
