Lived near and visited Thirsty Turtle in Juno Beach many times over 20 years. Very much a favorite so I was happy to hear we would have one in this area.I visited on a weekday evening around 8pm. A couple of people at the bar and two tables were occupied. I stood by the hostess stand for a few minutes. There wasn't an employee to be seen. No hostess, server or bartender. I thought this was weird but chalked it up to newness issues but after a few more minutes it just didn't sit well. I just left and went somewhere else. Never spotted an employee.Obviously I can't comment on the food but it did seem to have a weird vibe unlike the Juno location. It was sparsely decorated with just some tvs on the walls. Hopefully they figure it out. It would be nice to have another option in this area. That is a tough location. Apparently they had been open a month and I had no idea even though I'm in the Publix there 3 or 4 times a week.I will go back maybe during the day and try the food and hopefully I can adjust my rating.

Our first time since the change to the Thirsty Turtle Seagrill. We arrived at about 4pm for Friday happy hour. Happy hour here is 2-7pm every day. At 4pm things were in full swing and the bar as well as several tables were filled. The very helpful bartender took our order at a table in the bar area and said she would watch for an opening to move us up to the bar. This was just what we wanted. We ordered a draft Ultra and a house drink, both on HH. We also got the French fried mushrooms to start. Shortly after our food arrived, some spots opened at the bar and we were moved up. I was very appreciative of this, especially because the other group who were waiting seemed to be good friends with the bar staff. We were still upgraded in order. The mushrooms were great, crunchy topping with corn meal, and spicy dipping sauce. Even as they cooled we continued eating them until they were gone. That is fairly unusual for us to finish a fried app. I'd rate these just a tad below Guissippe's Steel City mainly because Guisseppe's are served piping hot and the coating is a tiny bit thinner. For our mains, my husband selected the Rueben sandwich and I chose the peel and eat shrimp app, with. A side of Mac and cheese. Hubs loved his sandwich, served on thick slices of toasted marble rye and piled high with pastrami. The condiments were really nice. I had a tiny bite since I don't like sauerkraut, and the Thousand Island really stood out. The fries were not really hot but not cold enough to send back. They were fine with salt added. I wish places would season things to taste before they leave the kitchen. The Mac and cheese had bacon crumbles, was served hot, and not overcooked. So many places serve mushy Mac and cheese but this was nicely al dente and creamy.I saw a lot of dishes coming out of the kitchen including the very generous nachos, hamburgers, calamari. They all looked great. The peel and eat shrimp were a huge disappointment, and would have lowered my rating to 3 stars if the service and other dishes had not been so great. This was a small pile of white shrimp served on a white plate with two little cups, one at either end. One cup had a red and black powder that I decided must be Old Bay. The other one had a clear liquid that might have been olive oil or might have been drawn butter. We decided it was butter, unsalted. I am not sure how I was supposed to eat this. I tried dunking in one and then the other but both approaches left me with a mouthful of Old Bay and not much else. Which brings me to the size of the shrimp. There were about 15 in the 1/2 lb. Serving. This means that these are u30 shrimp, that is 30 to a pound. That is pretty small for peel and eat, especially at a "Seagrill". No self respecting steak house would serve these in a shrimp cocktail, they were that small. They were completely bland, steamed without benefit of any seasoning at all. I ended up pouring the Old Bay into the "butter" and dunking in that. But I only ate half of them because all the peeling was too much work for such a small bit of protein.I never would have expected such a pathetic peel and eat experience at a Seagrill! All in all, we will be back and I will never order that again!

The new restaurant in the Trails Shopping plaza where Burntwoods used to be. Today was opening day. We are so glad they kept the staff from Burntwoods since they were great and still take great care of us. Erin always is wonderful. The atmosphere is more casual with a beachy / nautical feel. We started with small neck clams that were very nice. Grilled Salmon with two sides for my wife was very nice. I had the seafood trio in Alfredo that was delicious . Although we will miss Burntwood we will be enjoying the new place in the trails.

The Thirsty Turtle serves more than beverages. Let's start with the sides: bacon mac and cheese is really penne carbonara. Sticking with pasta, another side is spaghetti with garlic butter, or Alfredo or the usual. Seriously, we are not even discussing the entrees yet--these are sides, as in "pick two" with your entree. For entrees you can have tacos, burgers, salads, fish and more. We went with fish & chips, fried shrimp, and fried calamari. These were silky and hearty, not greasy--truly great. For dessert we tried: the turtle egg--caramel surrounded by peanut butter ice cream surrounded by a hard chocolate shell; and the peanut butter pie--thick, rich and generous. They did not quite burn down the old Burntwood. The seats are exactly where you might recall them, but the chandeliers and wall art are removed so you can have an unobstructed view of all the TVs installed wall to wall. For our first visit we were welcomed by Katie behind the bar. She was wonderful to us, and to the couple sitting next to us, even if they could not stop grousing. Ultimately, Kristie came from the kitchen to make our experience sweeter with dessert, and satisfying the couple next to us. If everyone at The Thirsty Turtle is as sweet as Katie and Kristie, we look forward to working our way through the rest of the menu with them.
