Went for the first time yesterday. It will not be the last! I had blackened cat fish and slaw. Delicious! I tried a bite of everyone else's food and it was all delicious! Servers were on point, friendly and attentive. Five stars!

This place is a whole experience! The outside of the restaurant is rustic and the decor inside has an old hunting cabin vibe. Eclectic menu offerings like frog legs and gator tail. We stuck with a grilled redfish sandwich and chicken nuggets for the kiddo. Our waitress was friendly and came by several times to check on us. We were stuffed after dinner but will be back to try the onion rings appetizer and key lime pie!

Was some good Florida fun exploring this old-timey country restaurant with its pioneer fare set in what sort of feels like some kind of swamp house fish camp just off the lakes in times gone by. Friendly hospitality and good food.Sure, they've got all the usual Southern suspects like fried green tomatoes, collard greens, shrimp and grits, and catfish but there's more. Like gator, duck, and venison. Even frog legs for the adventurous! Almost surprised they didn't have squirrel, rabbit, or sandhill crane on the menu! Just kidding.Overall, food was pretty good. Gator wasn't rubbery, which is how you get it usually elsewhere. Nice thick fried green tomatoes, I liked that. My Bloody Mary was excellent and I'm picky. Man alive, you should have seen the hunk of meat in the collard greens. Whoa. Shrimps were good. Everything was good, good, good. lolIt's a curiosity of a place; part museum, taxidermy on display, live music, a library nodding to its namesake and the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park up the street, and even cabins to rent, Jyeah, you could actually stay here if you wanted to and you know what, it kind of sort of looks like a pretty cool thing to do.

This is off the beaten path, but was a beautiful ride to get there. The building has been around for a long time but is eclectic with a section of taxidermy Florida wildlife and lots of book cases with books. They had a singer with a guitar who was not overly loud so you could still have a conversation. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with tater tots and sweet tea. Service was average and food was good. There is a little gift shop. They also rent cabins.

If you're in the area, have never been to this establishment and have money to spend, I'd say give it a go. It's historic and the food really was delicious. The service/vibes and prices were just not up to my personal standards. The building inside is really cool; it's eclectic and very "Old Florida." The pictures I saw online of the large dining room adorned with taxidermy and used books prior to dining is the number one thing that allured me here. When the two of us came in we were immediately greeted but brought straight back to the bar area, which consisted of a few booths in a dimly lit setting that smelled heavily of cigarettes (had I been wanting to sit and have a drink this would've actually been pleasantly nostalgic, but it really wasn't what I was going for for lunch). I asked if the "other area with the large gator" was available because I had seen it online and it looked neat. The woman seating us was obviously miffed and said "we seat by rotation, but that's fine." I do understand that patrons are seated in this manner in most places, but given that it was not a lunch rush and we were clearly out-of-towners trying to get the full experience I figured there was no harm in asking for a seat preference. She then brought us to the back of the restaurant, nowhere near where we requested. Here we were isolated, practically hidden, and there was no atmosphere (and a really racist picture on the wall - yikes). The service from that point on was very slow, which seemed unusual due to there being three occupied tables in the entire restaurant (including one where we asked to sit so I know that area wasn't closed). Huge bummer. We had the veal appetizer, fried gator po' boy, and the blackened redfish entree. The flavors were delicious. 10/10 on the food. The portions, however, were dismal. Especially for the prices. I specifically chose the redfish dinner entree instead of the lunch portion because I wanted the second side and hushpuppies as the menu states. My side of collards was very skimpy and the plate came without hushpuppies. When I asked for them the waitress said, "Let me see if I can find one." Then brought one old hush puppy. For $24.00 I expected a more appropriate response. I'm not sure if I'd return based on the experience, which is unfortunate because the chefs are clearly very talented.

What an incredible experience!! We stumbled upon this place online and decided to bring our Texas group in. We called ahead and let them know there were 8 of us and they had a table ready the second we walked in. The owner and all of the staff were so kind. The food was so so so good. Our group had conch fritters and gator to start, then a variety of grouper, redfish, shrimp, catfish and various sides. The blackened redfish was delicious! This place is a bookstore vibe with taxidermy decor and live music. I promise you'll never find another like this. If you're anywhere near this place, stop by. You won't regret it!
