A group of friends and I went to this location for breakfast. The lady who came up to us was aware that we all are deaf and she came up to the cook, Christy, and her response was 'who cares and it was not my problem so screw them' and she looked at all of us with an attitude and prejudiced us. I confronted someone to ask for the cooker's name and then spoke with the owner of this place and made him aware of this situation and we could file a lawsuit against this business for discrimination and hate crime.

Decent food, quickly. A little pricey. But nothing to write home about. I ordered the Gut Buster (eggs, hash brown, green peppers, mushrooms) and it was good.It was good, overall.

Staff was really friendly. Had a nice laugh with a few police officers who were dining in. I must say they do some pretty good down home breakfast.

March 29th, made first visit to restaurant. First appearance it seems inviting, clean and modern. Ordered the gut buster and my wife ordered pancakes, sausage and eggs. Food came out fairly prompt but I noticed toast was cold, sausage was cool to the touch. Taste was pleasant and price for two is pretty cheap. Ordered two coffees and there is a community pot to share. Might be better if one of the staff walked around and kept cups filled. Place is in an old strip mall. Parking some what tight. Staff does seem not very sparkly! One thing I noticed was many ceiling tiles needing swapped out due to water damage. Should make this a priority to resolve.

I've visited AJK a number of times, since I live nearby and it's a convenient neighborhood stop for breakfast. They list specials on the menu board, which seem to vary from day to day, and I usually go with one of those to keep it simple. I wouldn't say this is a diner as much as I would say greasy spoon, heavy emphasis on the word greasy...and with good reason. I know you're thinking that I'm referring to the food, however, I'm actually talking about the aroma of grease that hits you as you walk in. Oh you'll notice. It's not simply wafting through the air like the scent of freshly baked bread, I'm saying that if grease was a pheromone, this place would be a brothel. Ventilation is virtually non-existent here. Other than that, it's counter service, tables, chairs, the norm. Now, what prompted me to write this review was actually my last experience here, because up until now, the food stayed pretty consistent. It's always been good, no-frills, simple, made to order diner food. You order, they make it, you eat, it's good, and you're full. This time I went with the Shepherds Pie lunch special, with mac n cheese, collard greens, and a side of cornbread. SMH....SMH....SMH.....It was cold. Yes, all of it. Not the refrigerated kind of cold, it wasn't that bad, but it was easily room temp. Not hot, not warm, not even close. It was the classic "You've GOT to be shitting me" scenario playing out. Sadly, the mac n cheese wasn't the "fresh from the oven" variety that we all know and love. The pasta and sauce clearly weren't besties, since there seemed to be a lot of separation going on. The cornbread....oh, the cornbread....I love me some cornbread. Just not this cornbread. Wouldn't even call it cornbread. There was no sweet/salty combination to be found, it was a very dry, cold, bland....cake-like thing, even slathered with butter. It only took 2 bites of the Shepherds Pie for me to conclude that it is NOT a dish that's best served cold, and I left the rest. I wasn't upset, disappointed, unhappy or pissed. I was actually all 4 because I left very hungry and unsatisfied.Aside from all of that, I hate giving reviews like this to local establishments. AJK has been a community staple for years and years, and they have a steady stream of customers (and cops) that frequently patronize their business. I honestly can't say whether or not I'll be back, since this past experience has left such an unwavering impression. Yes, AJK, you're a community fixture, but it's 2019 and the competition is fierce. There's new eateries and food trucks poppin' up every week and you simply CANNOT slip, because "the food is ok and the people are nice" reviews are NOT enough anymore. It's A-GAME or nothing, all day, every day, and without that mentality, you will not survive. It's as harsh and straightforward as that. Till next time, my fellow Yeeps, thanks for reading, and as always, SYOY!

This was one of the first places we tried when we moved to Murray Hill. They offer a ton of breakfast items and a variety of specials for lunch for very reasonable prices. The food isn't fancy, but just solid comfort food. We came for lunch and both enjoyed our meals. You can tell this place has its regulars that have been coming here since it opened and probably every day which is a good sign. The restaurant is somewhat understated if you judge by the outside, but the food is plenty and priced like diner food should be priced. Aunt Jan's is located right on Normandy with plenty of parking on off hours. You will usually find a few cops from JSO dining here daily for lunch so you'll definitely feel safe while here. Our only issue is that they close earlier than our sleeping schedules would permit for us to become regulars. My hope is to one day have breakfast here if only we can be up and out by the crack of noon...but that is very unlikely. Overall, I would recommend trying it out for lunch. The service is fast and friendly plus you won't break the bank dining here either.
