The Potter's House Soul Food Bistro

Everytime I go here, the line is out the door. I went today and got the fish and shrimp. It was really good. Not too much breading, you could taste the fish, of course the sides and cobbler was really good too.As I was leaving, one of the women working there was holding the door and said thank you for coming and we hope to come back again. Got me to thinking, how many places to you go these days that does that. The people have have always been really nice, not just to me, but other customers too. I'm sure the kitchen staff is working like crazy to keep food coming out too. The ladies at the register are always polite. I know it's not like this 100% of the time and some people do have a bad experience, it happens. If you haven't been here, or live out of town and visiting Jax.....give this place a try.

Man-o-Man the food here is sooo YUM! It's just good old-fashioned Soul Food. I got the special which was SMOTHERED Turkey Wings & yellow rice. They gave 2 sides option so I chose collard greens and stuffing. However, they had multiple side options like cabbage, green beans, yams, mac and cheese, and other typical soul food sides. My kids got FRIED fish & chicken both SEASONED well! My youngest added a fruit punch to her kids meal. It taste WATERED down which explained why she was not drinking it. Most soul food restaurants have a special secret mixture fruit punch. I was a FIRST TIME CALLER to this restaurant and I had no clue of the cadence. I didn't know how to order, where to pay, how to pickup my food. Customer service is not on the menu. Also, I came over from the church (after leaving a little early). I was DISAPPOINTED that the Sunday Service was not streaming. This is a cafeteria style eatery. The tables and seating serves its purpose. I did not see anyone cleaning them as people were getting up. I think they should put out Sani Wipes or actively clean the tables so sitting down is comfortable. You can eat there if you want or leave with your plate. All food is packaged to go. FOOD - 5SERVICE - 0AMBIANCE - 3

THE BEST MAC and Cheese in Jacksonville. Ox Tails are heaved, smothered pork chop is just right. Southern soul food at its finest.They cater too!

The food here is always amazingly delicious. The service is fast and friendly, and it reminds me of my favorite soul food restaurant back home in Atlanta, GA. The restaurant is as cozy as the meal hitting your comfort zone in the core.

Whenever it's a Jags gameday, you can catch me at Soul Food Bistro getting it in. The place is known for it's large portions, long lines, and vibrant atmosphere. My parents and I stopped by after the Jags beat the Colts for a celebratory meal before making the drive back to Gainesville. I think Sunday's specials are typically meatloaf and turkey wings, however - I was not happy to hear around 3:30pm that they were out of some great entree items. The turkey wings were sold out and the herb roasted chicken was also done for the day. I ended up opting in for the fried catfish as it's made to order and took about 10 minutes or so. I always get their mac and cheese and collard greens for my sides, and picked up a piece of the chocolate cake since this was my first time trying it. My catfish was hot and fresh, however the batter was a little salty. Thankfully, the hot sauce helped balance the saltiness a bit. The mac and cheese here is always so creamy and cheesy! It's like eating at your granny's house for a good Sunday meal. The collard greens are not my favorite here since they always have a more tangy vinegar taste, but I do love to mix them into my mac and cheese for the perfect pairing. I also got a peach sweet tea and whew, someone had a real heavy hand on the sugar on that batch. I couldn't even drink it, I had to switch to lemonade. I was disappointed with the chocolate cake. Oh man, the piece of cake was thick and heavy but the frosting was the only saving grace as the cake was so dry, I barely ate it.Soul Food Bistro is a great establishment but they have some kinks they need to work out from professionalism to food consistency. I think next time we will try out their other location.

The food is literally soul food. Cooked with the perfect amount of love, spice, and just great quality foods. The whole staff is great, informative, and they'll suggest the best options if you're confused or first timer. They'll walk you through the easy process of opening yourself up to the magic of soul food. The restaurant interior is chill and kinda dark with the perfect amount of light. I'm from West Virginia and this is not the food I'm used too but I'm glad now it's one of my favorite places. I fell the food literally fill my belly and soul!

This is for a review for ordering food to go. The meal was delicious. Big portions, very filling and super flavorful. I also had the potato salad and that was also really good. Gonna try their bread pudding next. I'm from California but I can't wait to come back to this place. Never had oxtail rice before but I loved it so much. The catfish was delicious

This is the best soul food i've ever had. the server was so nice and the place is huge! It had a nice vibe to it as well. 10/10

Nice people, nice environment, great prices for what you get. Cooked very southern style. If you want a home cooked meal. This will work especially if you don't to cook yourself. Please the bonus of helping others.

I literally go here every other day on my lunch break after working a 12 hour warehouse shift although I am girl and I am white so I don't know if they were being racist or judging me but I had a different guy pick out my chicken today and literally gave me 2 little pieces of little baby drums took me two bites to eat but gave the guy in front and behind me way more chicken and bigger pieces ? I'm not paying 12$ for collard greens and two bites of chicken as he specifically saidno that's for her ". Like because how I look I get less than everyone else's order ?? anytime I've came here. I've gotten two huge pieces of chicken today. I get two little drums and people next to me get more and bigger . Will go else where
