Wonderful daycare and boarding facility! We are new to the area and were looking for a place we trusted- we are very nervous pet parents. We researched multiple places and settled upon Pooches Playhouse because of their grassy play yards with toys, shady areas, and pools for hot days, colorful and welcoming facility, and social media presence. The best review though, is our dogs own! She absolutely LOVES going to Pooches Playhouse. Every morning when I head out to work, she begs us to go to daycare. The staff are all welcoming, friendly, and professional with the safety and happiness of each pup their top priority. We are at complete ease leaving our pooch with them for both day care and overnights.

Love Pooches! My dog immediately starts whining when we pull up! Their drop off and pick up is super easy, no checking in and my dog always comes home happy and tired!

Apparently, on-site visits are not welcome. When I stopped to see their facility, they said I could come back between 2 and 4 as the dogs would be sleeping then. Seriously? Big Mistake. What facility would deny access to see the environment you are placing your dog/cat, who cannot speak for themselves? This one. Also, it looked very dirty and that was my 2 minute view of the entryway. Went elsewhere where I was welcome to walk around and see how they board dogs/cats and the entire facility. They got my business...and my trust.... not Pooches Playhouse.

My pup and I had been patrons here for about 8 months with no issues until about 2 months ago. He would go to daycare about once a week and we stopped recently when he got bit by another dog. I got a phone call from the owner one day while I was at work stating that my dog got a "skin tear". The owner was adamant that the dogs were playing and somehow he got "scraped" (???) by another dog. After an emergency visit to the vet and their confirmation of the wound being a puncture wound I went back up to pooches playhouse to put some missing pieces together. Even after showing the owner the wound image I was told "oh that's just a claw mark, the vets always say it's a bite you know that". After I requested she review the footage I got a phone call the next day stating that she was "completely shocked" to tell me that one of their long time pups "reached out and grabbed him" (again, ???). In the phone call there was no concern for Oliver (my pup), rather continual expression of her disbelief that the other dog would do this. The story had gone from....3 workers were out there and saw that nothing happened...to 1 worker was out there and did not see that he was bit. They reached out to the owners of dog who bit him and I received full payment for his injuries. Honestly, we probably would have gone back had the owner been honest from the beginning. Things happen, and dogs are dogs. But she was dismissive, not forthcoming, and seemingly more concerned with her reputation than she was about my dog. So I lost trust in their ability to properly care for my pup.Never a mention of not allowing the dog to return, either. So who knows if that pup is still allowed there.

My pup has been to pooches 3 times. The 1st time they reported anxiety when in a kennel. The 2nd time they said it was less so. The 3rd time they said he was "much better". Recently we needed emergency boarding because a loved one was dying out west. We called pooches and asked about dropping him Saturday. Pooches said there was no room until Monday. We said Monday would do. Pooches looked up our account and verified my pup's name. "See you monday" they said. We asked a neighbor to keep the dog until Monday. When Monday rolled around Pooches said our pup wasn't welcome because he had a history of anxiety. They'd previously said he was over the anxiety and had told us to bring him Monday. The person on the phone refused to discuss these points, even after explaining that we were 3000 miles away helping a loved one out of this world. As soon as death allowed, one of us had to fly back. We'd have stayed with family, and enjoyed grandchildren, through mourning otherwise. Instead there was expensive last minute airfare. Back in JAX we attempted to talk to Pooches staff, to try to figure out we what went wrong, to remain customers. Big mistake. You can't meet with the owner without an appointment" they told me. She'll call to set a time. No call ever came. No sense of responsibility for their actions. Irresponsible and unreliable to the end.Response : I am a pacifist. I threatened nobody. I asked to speak to the owner with the intent of straightening out a messy miscommunication between Pooches staff and Pooches owner so as to remain a customer. There was no threat whatsoever. Nor was there a callback. We are hardly the only people reporting uncaring, dishonest, unappreciative, behavior on the part of Pooches management.

The worst part of my upcoming move is that my dog Rogue is having to say goodbye to her favorite daycare and all the friends she has made at Pooches Playhouse. Having Rogue hop out of the car and joyfully run to the door of daycare, not even giving the courtesy of looking back to say goodbye to me, has helped bring me a lot of peace and comfort to the unpleasant aspect of leaving my dog - my child - behind when traveling. The staff at Pooches Playhouse has helped make my life as a dog parent so much easier (I've tried a lot of boarding and daycare, and they are by far both Rogue and my favorite). Thank you for everything!

Very disappointed. Referred by another local dog business so I made and paid $30 for a day of daycare so they could evaluate if my dog was approved for boarding there while I went on a work trip. My dog was whisked away upon arrival. I wasn't allowed to see the facility until mid-day so I was expected to leave him sight unseen. I trusted the company that referred me, so I left and returned during the "tour" hours. The tour was brief and the place appeared clean but I wasn't able to see any of the dogs or how they were kept or interacted with staff or even how many dogs per staff member. When asking questions & mentioning the referral, the girl actually spoke negatively about the other company. I returned after work for pick up and the verdict on whether they approved my dog. My dog was filthy dirty and panting with wet ears which I just assumed was from playing hard and having fun. This continued for nearly 3 hours after returning home in the A/C- he was overheated and extremely stressed, depressed and not acting like himself. Upon closer inspection, there were scabs on his ears and a large cut on the inside of his leg. He is typically confident and was acting fearful, exhibiting signs of separation anxiety if I left his sight and stayed depressed for nearly 3 days after. Some have eluded to this just being from an intense day of playing but I absolutely disagree because he plays intensely with other dogs at least 3 days a week and while tired after, it makes him happy and he loves it. He did NOT love his day at pooches. They approved him but I don't approve of them. I canceled the boarding reservation and I hope that by sharing this horrible experience it prevents someone else from having to go through it.
