A great location for dinner, near lots of other bars and restaurants. I highly suggest making a reservation as the walk-in space was very limited. The bread was delish, I love how there were multiple options that came along with it. The filet oscar style was tasty, however the asparagus that came with it tasted very smoky and off, way worse than the side of actual asparagus. The pimento mac & cheese was tasty, but I wish I had went with something different like the au gratin potatoes. The espresso martini was one of the best I've had, and I am an espresso martini stan. This is not one of my usual places I would eat but it was a special occasion. I knew I was in over my head when the server offered 3 different types of water!? Lol. Be prepared to spend some cash when you come, but if that's your vibe then definitely give it a go!

If you are looking for an upscale, classy and romantic place for a special event, date, or celebration, then you have found the right place here! The ambiance is amazing! The decor is fabulous! It is a 3 story restaurant with a rooftop bar and fabulous view of Jacksonville. Cowford was recommended to me by a Yelpie friend, who had been here several times and I am grateful to him. Be sure to make reservations because this place is super popular. Our server was Kennedy, who was very welcoming, attentive and professional with a good personality! We teased him and called him Mr. President. This was back on 12/21/24. He knew the menu inside and out. My daughter and I ordered the filet mignon with the dish of AuGratin potatoes. We were raving about how delicious our meal was! Simply perfection! I wish we didn't live so far away so we could come here more often. To accompany our meals, my daughter ordered the Judy Z Mia Mia cocktail and I had the Florida Old Fashioned. Both drinks were very good! We ended our evening with a couple of incredibly delicious desserts. My daughter had the Cinnamon Roll Creme Brulee, which she loved. I had the Chocolate cake, which wasn't your ordinary slice of cake but some perfectly delicious round lava type cake that was out of this world good! I still remember how it melted in my mouth! It was served with a scoop of chocolate ice cream. Fantastic. 5/5 stars! We loved where we were seated on the second floor right next to the open space in the middle where we could look down into the 1st Floor at the bar. That was so cool! We were so pleased to be there. We chose valet parking but there may be street parking or a parking garage near by. Their elevator is very roomy with a wooden wall carving. I'm still not sure what it represented but it was very interesting. We had a great evening and can't wait to return.

We had a pricey but good meal on our first visit for Cowford Chophouse to celebrate a birthday -- and service was an absolute highlight. The interior is really lovely -- dark but in a classic, not outdated way -- and in what are HUGE pluses in my book, the tables are spaced well, the chairs are comfortable, and the volume isn't loud. Our server (Kelly, unless the receipt was wrong) was absolutely fantastic throughout. She was friendly and attentive. Her overall demeanor came across as someone who's been doing fine dining service for awhile but not in a stuffy way at all. For drinks, I got the Seas the Day, and I wasn't super impressed, although it wasn't terrible...just lacking in flavor in my book. I did like that the restaurant featured mocktails as well as cocktails; I drink but have friends who don't, so I'm always on the lookout for places that take steps to accommodate non-drinkers. Our server made a great recommendation for a Sauvignon blanc with my entrée, which I'll get to in a minute. The Riesling with dessert was great, too.The bread basket was maybe my favorite thing of the night. It featured a French bread, some biscuits, a crisp cracker-style bread, and a focaccia that I could have eaten by the pound. The butter was served whipped and seasoned. My table got the duck fat cornbread as an appetizer. I don't really eat meat beyond the occasional seafood, so I did try the crab and lobster topping which I found to be OK. I didn't care for the flavor -- it felt like the flavors were fighting each other rather than complementing each other, but that may be personal preference more than anything. My spouse said the cornbread itself was good, but we all said we would have been perfectly happy with the cornbread.I got some of the tomato soup and really liked it. Our server gave me the heads up that it had "a bit of a kick", and it did in a pleasant way. The roasting of the tomato came through pretty strong -- for me, that was a positive. It was a perfect January soup, hearty and warming. I'd get it again. One thing that was a bit out of step was that the serving of the entrées took awhile after the soup, and I'm wondering if maybe the kitchen got out of sync? Our server brought knives and warmed plates for the steak eaters, but it was a good 15 minutes before the steak came out (rendering it a bit irrelevant to have warmed the plates). So, as I mentioned, I'm not the meat eater of my party, but I can say that my dining partners were both really pleased by the Tomahawk, which they split. It was cooked to a medium rare and sliced (by request) well. It also smelled amazing, and I say that as someone who doesn't really find the smell of beef appealing. I got the risotto with scallops and liked it; maybe it's not topping the list of "best risotto I've ever had" but it is a pleasantly tasty option for the non-meat eater at a steakhouse! The regular risotto my dining partners got as a side was good, too. They also got the au gratin potatoes (delicious in flavor, but some of the potatoes were a bit crunchy) and the Brussels sprouts (fine, but we'd have liked them a bit more roasted). My spouse got a foie gras supplement (served on the side, as he was the only one who wanted it) and found it to be tasty but on the really small side. We were surprised when the kitchen sent out a second foie gras a few minutes later -- not sure if it was because of the steak delay or the small size of the first foie gras, but it was an impressive thing to do nonetheless! We ended up with some leftovers, and the staff boxed it all up for us -- even wrapping the tomahawk bone in aluminum foil! (Did my dog get to eat the bone? No. Did she get great joy out of a few licks of it? ...Maybe.)For desserts, my partners got a trio of ice creams (and said they were great) and a chocolate cake, which was delicious. I got a blueberry tart and loved the filling but found the crust a bit hard to eat -- I had to snap off pieces with my fingers. Again, that Riesling with it was delicious. The bill came and was a bit more than we would have expected had we not known roughly what it would come to -- does that make sense? Like, we knew what it would be because we saw the prices on the menu, but if we hadn't, it would have felt a bit on the high side. Nothing egregious, just solidifies this restaurant as a pricey, special occasion dinner venue rather than something we'd consider for a regular date night. So, the TL;DR (now that you've scrolled this far): the steak is great, as it should be at a steakhouse. The bread is spectacular. Other options can be a bit of a miss but not seriously so. And the service absolutely shines.

4.5 stars rounding up to 5! We had a 5 PM reservation but arrived a little early to kick things off at the bar. I went for an espresso martini--it was good, but not life-changing. My friend tried the hibiscus Paloma and it was solidly okay--neither thrilling nor disappointing.Once seated, our waiter immediately asked if we were headed to a show, ensuring we'd have plenty of time. That small detail set the tone for the evening: service that was thoughtful, efficient, and top-notch from start to finish.First up, the bread basket. Three types of bread, zero disappointments (though I would have liked the butter to be warmed just a touch for easier spreading). We also tried the bone marrow appetizer. As a first-timer to bone marrow, I was intrigued--and impressed! It was indulgent, rich, and almost enough to sideline my appetite. Almost. To drink, I opted for an elderflower spritz with dinner. Not only was it gorgeous, but it also tasted like a bouquet in the best way possible. For the main course, I went with the filet mignon (medium rare). It arrived perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful--basically, everything you dream of in a steak. The creamy horseradish sauce was a delightful dip, though I wouldn't have minded a bit more kick. I also ordered onion strings, which sadly didn't wow me.My friend chose the ribeye and seasonal veggies. Her steak got a thumbs-up, and we both loved the veggies. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned--definitely a standout.Unfortunately, we didn't have time for dessert, which felt like a rookie mistake because the options sounded incredible. I'm already planning a return trip to fix that oversight.Cowford Chophouse nailed the steak, the service, and most of the overall experience. It's definitely worth a visit--just save room for dessert (and maybe skip the onion strings).

We have enjoyed Cowford as a date night spot for a few months now. The cozy atmosphere is intimate and relaxing with comfortable seating on the first floor. The second floor has a nice view of downtown and is also very romantic. We love all of their signature cocktails but if you're dining here during the fall, you have to try the cider one which is a gin based drink with chai and apple flavors- TO DIE FOR! (I got 3, but I could have drank 30 had it not been for the gin!) I am in love with their ribeye here which pairs perfectly with their chimichurri. We also enjoy the risotto and the scalloped potatoes with prosciutto.Additionally, the king crab is succulent and the wood fired notes are great. And I am a huge fan of the duck cornbread, which is both sweet and light. For dessert, the baked alaska is my favorite and pairs great with a pistachio dessert cocktail!

The food, service, & ambience in this restaurant were amazing. We went here to celebrate a friend's birthday & did not regret it. The steak with a little bleu cheese on it was chefs kiss. I can't wait to go back!

This is one of my favorite restaurants for fine dining in Jacksonville. The venue is beautifully decorated, and the service is literally unmatched in Jacksonville. The food quality is always superb and extremely consistent. I've never had a bad meal here. If you're looking for a high end steakhouse look no further. They also have a more casual first floor dining option, which is also fantastic. The bar area is beautiful and their cocktails are definitely works of art.

Overall it was a chilling experience. The temperature was probably in the 50s. The steaks were amazing, the sides, salads and appetizers were great. My wife had the sea bass and was not impressed. The service was good, but not really up to the standards I expect for a high end steak restaurant. When I asked about making the temperature warmer they said it was an old building with bad insulation, but I went next store to a cigar lounge and they cracked the code of how to warm an old building. So I guess I wont go back until it gets warm again because the food is excellent but the "winter" ambiance is not for me. Everyone there had their outside coat on while dinning.
