The Butt Hutt Smokehouse

I have no idea why it took me so long to get to the Butt Hutt but I'm so glad I did. This place just epitomizes all that's best about Florida BBQ and the great Riverside restaurant scene. We carried out in this particularly day but it was apparent what a great place this would be to dine in. Eclectic, casual decor inside and an amazing patio for when the weather warms up. The food was all fantastic. The brisket and pulled pork were prepared perfectly and the sauces...immaculate. A special nod to the sticky, thick and flavorful Mac and cheese. The garlic made it next level. The corn nuggets were also a perfect accompaniment to my pulled pork. Everything hit. If you don't live in the Riverside/Avondale area, it's worth a driver to check out the Butt Hutt. I highly recommend this place.

Walked onto the colorful porch and you definitely get warm weather bar area the inside does give bar with a small food area probably about 6-8 inside tables and some seating at the bar. They encourage ordering at the kiosk but they will take your order at the bar. You can platters salads or sandwiches. They hey do have a kids menu as well. He ordered the pulled pork platter with fries and corn nuggets (with an up charge) and a drink, I ordered the brisket melt which was sauced with a sweet/smoky bbq sauce. I also got the garlic Mac and cheese. I also asked for a 1/2 order of Florida fries with rib tips as my meat. (You choose a meat, it comes with a cheese sauce, chopped Poblanos, a garlic aioli and chopped onions. However when our food came it didn't have the Florida fries just regular side of fries. The receipt doesn't show the itemized sides, she stated I ordered regular fries but she did make the Florida fries for me. I could have been wrong but I will double check next time and take a photo of my order as well just to be sure. He didn't like the slightly butter taste of the pork, but enjoyed his fries and the corn nuggets were alright. He didn't like any of the sauces because he likes a vinegar Carolina sauce which none were an option. If I order the melt again I would say no sauce so I could try their other sauces. The garlic Mac and cheese was very creamy and had a forward flavor of garlic but not overpowering. The Florida fries I would probably just get the plain ones. I enjoyed the aioli and the liquid cheese but I like well overdone and very soft onions and peppers, and these were caramelized good but not overcooked enough for my taste. The price point (in our opinion) was a little high but we possibly would give this place another try just ordering differently.

Stopped in at the Butt Hutt today for a quick lunch.I kept it simple with a pulled pork sandwich and fries. My lunch partner had one of today's specials which was a tri-tip sandwich and baked beans.My pork sandwich was passable, but not outstanding. It was a little dry.Fries were good.Partner said the Tri-tip sandwich was good and flavorful. Bun was crispy around the edges and buttered, and the beans were flavorful.Access to the restaurant was a little interesting as we had to make a couple of u-turns to be able to get in. Restaurant inside could use some cleanup.Overall Butt Hutt is OK, but there are a lot of BBQ places and not sure I'd go out of my way to head back.

Wonderful BBQ! We ordered the pig platter which consist of 4 meats, 2 large side and Texas toast. The 4 meats were spicy sausage, brisket, smoked wings and ribs. Side of potato salad and corn nuggets to die for! Overall, the platter was too much my stomach could handle but enjoyed every bit of it! I ate much as I could resulting me to go into a food coma. I'll come back to order an individual meal lol. **All meats gluten free!

I am obsessed with this place! located at 17 (Roosevelt), not hard to find but parking might be a little tricky. this was our first time trying this place but it is not the last! this location is small, you order and you can seat wherever you want to, we ordered brisket and pulled pork and we love it! one of our sides is the garlic mashed potatoes and it was amazing! Next time I will try the burnt ends since we are already planning to be back here. They also have few dessert selections but we did not try anything since we were so full but definitely we will try it next time! if you have not try this place go ahead and try it! you will not regret it.

We have been reminded to try this place every time we drive past and finally decided to grab some food for carryout. Love the easy online ordering available through the toast app and we decided to get two platters in order to try different items. Our order was ready fast and pickup was easy too. We choose pork and brisket for meats and wow were they cooked perfectly and absolutely yummy. The pork was moist and flavorful. We chose a mix of fatty and lean brisket and it was melt in your mouth good. I think the use of pecan wood added another layer to the flavors. For sides, we choose cilantro lime slaw, fries, macaroni and cheese, and corn nuggets. I loved the slaw because it was seasoned well and not too wet, most of the dressing had fallen to the bottom of the container which was perfect for me. If you like it more dressed, shake up the container before eating. The fries were crispy and I loved dipping them in the green sauce (I used that on everything!). My husband wanted corn nuggets and Mac and cheese, so I tried some of each. The corn nuggets were tasty, and the Mac and cheese was good, just not my favorite things in general. The outside seating looked nice and we look forward to returning in warmer weather to enjoy it.

Great BBQ. The brisket and pulled pork are fantastic. I'm thinking about lunch right now! I'm going back for the tacos and the collard greens again.

This is one of my favorite BBQ spots in Jax. It's not trendy, but it's a cool, local spot that feels nicer than the really casual BBQ chains.The brisket is their most popular meat, which I loved, but I personally like the pulled pork a little more, probably because I like my brisket extra lean (just a personal preference). They have a great array of BBQ sauce options- I always go for the sweeter sauce. And I know it may sound weird, but I LOVE their salad, which I've always gotten as one of my sides. I think it may have chopped jalapeños in it that give it a different kind of taste but with no kick. Honestly, I've always had it without dressing and it really doesn't need it IMO. The fries are awesome too.The service is quick, friendly, and helpful. The spot is really unique, with nice picnic benches for outdoor seating overlooking the colorful cool murals on the outside wall. The inside is really narrow and has limited seats but we haven't had issues getting seated on a non-special event night. They have a few TV's showing sports games and they have several beers by the bottle and on draft.

DUMB DELICIOUS!!! Our first time here and wow! Everything was exceptional. We got the brisket half lean/half fatty, jerk chicken and ribs...sides were cilantro coleslaw, baked beans, potato salad and collards greens. All of the meat was delicious so we can't pick a favorite...our favorite side was the potato salad but they were all good...garlic bread was yummy too! We are Woodpeckers BBQ junkies but this place just took FIRST PLACE!!! You gotta try it! Hands down THE BEST BBQ!!! If that wasn't enough to convince you to come try it, the service was so excellent and they even brought us a sample of their popular brisket burnt ends...omg slap your mom sensational!!! A+++

The atmosphere was rustic plus Caribbean. Had some good tune blasting. From Blues to Reggae. Service was fast and courteous. The staff was friendly. The food. I had Jerk chicken with cilantro coleslaw and fried okra, ranch sauce with that. The chicken was just spicy and juicy enough for flavor. Coleslaw hit the spot. Okra was nice too. My co worker had the brisket and he enjoyed it too. He's a foodie.
