The steak and crab cakes were unseasoned and gristly, with the mashed potatoes tasting like boxed food. The crab cakes were cold and tasted like water, and the carrots were undercooked and unseasoned (literally hard). Despite returning the plate of undercooked food, the owner only refunded half because "the crab cake had a bite taken from them.." it's so small that it would take a bite to know it tasted terrible. The only right thing to do would have been comping the entire plate. We had previously frequented the place for oysters and drinks exclusively cause the foods consistently subpar, but we won't return until there's a new chef now. Now the service from the hostess, bar tenders, and wait staff are ALWAYS great, but the management and chef's performance were terrible. The fact that we paid $18 for a crap plate we didn't eat is crazy and then we had to go across the street to have a real meal at Biscotti's (foods great 100% of the time, HIGHLY recommend) save ur money and go to Biscotti's! I had made reservations here for a Saturday night. I was not very familiar with the area, but this restaurant came up on OpenTable and we decided to try it out. We were greeted as we walked in to a very busy restaurant. We thought this was going to be great since it was so busy...glad we got reservations!Our waiter Richard was very friendly and very attentive... hence the 2 stars. We ordered the special, which you can see in the photo. Main protein was a 10oz steak and those two crab cakes on top. The presentation of the steak was.... extremely underwhelming, but I decided to try it anyway. I ordered mine medium rare and my wife medium. She cut into hers after a few tries and it was raw on the inside. I cut mine in the middle and mine was slightly under a medium rare, but again I went with it. My wife sends hers back as I get to eating mine... I cut it from the edge only to find out it was... raw? On the edge? Very weird to me, so I ended up cutting around the steak and ever edge was raw. I ended up just not eating mine and my wife's, the second time around was also raw on the outsides... we just didn't eat our steaks and they comped us. What was good was the small crab cakes and the complimentary bread and butter. I look at the other photos of steaks and they have a good crust on them, but ours looked like they were cooked on a medium heat pan... We won't be coming back. But thankfully there's plenty of other options in Avondale.

We were in town visiting our family and decided to have dinner at this restaurant. Location: I'm not very familiar with the air but it's like a small downtown area. Located near cute boutique shops. Parking: We got lucky and found a spotRight in front of the restaurant, but parking is tough to find. Service: My cousin made the reservations and the service was ok. I wasn't impressed but it wasn't horrible. Ambience/Crowd: It's a family restaurant and has a nice atmosphere. Food/drink: 5/10 the food was not memorable I didn't enjoy the food. Will I be back? If I went back I would try something different. Unfortunately I didn't take pics of the food.

Everything went well. We had reservations and were seated promptly. The decor was nice and we were seated in a corner by the window that was quiet for conversation. The outside seating and gardens are lovely, but it was a bit warm and elected to stay inside. The server promptly took our drink and salad orders while we decided on entrees. She was very attentive on refilling drinks and checking on our table without us having to ask. Everything was absolutely cooked to perfection. The turkey, Mahi Mahi and NY strip were all super moist and tender. The only slight negative was the bordelaise sauce on the steak was a bit salty, but that's personal preference. This was a special Thanksgiving menu, but we definitely will try dinner and the weekend brunch. Definitely another Avondale gem.

So we haven't been in years - not sure why. Went last pm for happy hour. Sat at the bar. Had 3 doz raw Virginia oysters - $13 a dozen. Delicious. The shucker is a very nice lady. We will be back. Used to love their muscles as well. Happy hour only in bar area but it was packed, just like it always was pre-pandemic.

My favorite part about Blue Fish is the location, Avondale is hands down the cutest community in Jax and I love visiting the area often. The second thing I love about Blue Fish is their Happy Hour, some of the best specials in town. Today I visited with a friend for lunch for the first time and I ordered the shrimp and grits. I definitely missed the part of the menu where it discussed the spice level but luckily I enjoy a little spice. The grits were stone ground but still creamy, the shrimp were perfectly cooked. I understand the purpose of leaving the tail on but I still don't like it . Service was okay for bar seating, it was pretty meh not bad but not worth writing about. The restaurant was nice and quiet it's not aesthetically pleasing in my opinion and could use some updating. The outdoor seating however is beautiful

I came in today for brunch and it was so hot in the restaurant, it made the experience very uncomfortable! Not sure if it was a bad day or what. Otherwise, Blue Fish has a great brunch menu and it's one of my favorite places for brunch. I don't drink alcohol much but they have great deals on their cocktail menu especially their Bloody Mary's, Mimosas, Sangrias, etc. On this visit, I ordered the lemon cod with capers, it came with grits and potatoes. I was really happy with my meal. It was very good and I cleaned my plate. During brunch they offer complimentary starters and dessert. I had the fresh fruit to start and ended with a snickerdoodle cookie and cheesecake brownie. Our server was really nice and we had a nice experience. But again, not sure what's going on but it was so hot in the restaurant, we were all sweating and fanning ourselves on a 100 degree day in Florida, it was not fun.

We had dinner at this restaurant on Valentine's Day and it was top notch. We enjoyed all of our food and appetizers. Everything was perfectly cooked and displayed and the taste was excellent. Coming from New Jersey where there are 1 million great restaurants, this restaurant definitely is great.Highly recommend! The atmosphere in the restaurant was very cute and inviting. Perfect for our family on Valentine's Day! The service was also incredible. We had an excellent waiter and he was very attentive and knowledgeable and kind.

The waiter had a great smile and was very personable. The taste of the food was excellent. I ordered the shrimp scampi. The shrimp were large and delicious. The dish had a good flavor and the blend of spices made for tasty bit not too spicy flavor. The ambience was very good. We had a seat that allowed some sunlight. Overall, an excellent experience. I expected to pay a higher price, but the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend commend this restaurant.
