Sweet Mama's Southern Homestyle Cookin

Don't pass this hole in the wall. Entire staff is very nice and welcoming. The chicken tenders and waffles were a huge hit. The Mac and cheese is homemade and hit the spot. The pork chop was great. The greens... amazing. The corn nuggets were the least favorite thing we ordered. But we decided to grab some desserts before leaving. The red velvet cake and strawberry cakes were both delectable! We will be back.

Their soul food taste better than the bistro to be honest. How they make everything fresh is amazing as well. Not too salty , not too spicy , it's always just right. No long lines.. I've been twice

I stopped in for the first time yesterday & Sweet Mama herself was taking orders. She was sweet and welcomed me when I told her it was my first visit. Based upon a recommendation, I ordered the fried ribs. I decided on the two sides platter with green beans and mac & cheese. As you can see, the portions are hearty and the platter comes with a piece of cornbread. I ended up taking half of my meal home for later because it was so filling.My food came out piping hot! The fried ribs were a great choice. The seasoning and perfect crisp of the breading let me know that I need to try their fried chicken too. All of the vegetables are cooked with smoked turkey so the green beans had a great flavor to them. I know mac & cheese can be a divisive topic, but I enjoyed Sweet Mama's because I like mine to have a little bite to it. The cornbread was a little dry but that did not stop me from eating every bit of it. I washed everything down with Sweet Mama's sweet tea which had the perfect amount of sweetness without being overpowering.

This afternoon was my first time experiencing this restaurant. The food that I had was one of their combo meals. I had fried shrimp with Collard Greens, yams, and cornbread. I had a sweet tea to drink. The food was so good and fresh. It was all made fresh to order. The service was okay, you order at the counter and they were busy so I understand the delays. The atmosphere was very hot. There was little to no air conditioning and it's summer time so you already know it for hot very quickly. Overall, the portions were great, the pricing is wonderful and is truly a steal. I will definitely be back and I love the hometown/family feel. That's all.

10/10 food, vibes & service! They have a really diverse menu and combos which made ordering super easy. You can quite literally taste the love put into the food. I got the oxtail & shrimp + grits, both came with cornbread. Their portions are super generous. I didn't like the collard greens nor the grits as much but I think thats just personal preference! I would totally come back here theres so many other things on the menu that I'd love to try!

In the mood for some good ole' southern, homestyle food? If so you've gotta check out Sweet Mama's I stopped by recently and immediately felt at home when I walked in. The staff were so friendly and the ambiance and decor was welcoming and reminded me of my own grandmother's kitchen! Everything is made to order so our food was piping hot when we received it. My friend ordered the fried pork chop and gravy which came with two sides. She got mac and cheese and greens and she loved how tender and tasty everything was. I ordered the southern style oxtails which were so tender and full of flavor truly reminding me of home. I also got an order of fried chicken wings and they were also packed with flavor! Both of our meals came with a fluffy piece of honey butter cornbread and I loved how generous the portions were! I was able to eat off of my plate a couple times. Overall, I was very pleased with my dine at Sweet Mamas! The only thing I missed out on was a dessert. I didn't even think about it until I was heading out the door. I will be back soon because in addition to dessert, there a several menu items I still have my eyes on! If you enjoy good home cooked cuisine, definitely check out Sweet Mamas!

We were out doing school shopping and I remembered this place and it was near where we went. Stopped in and was happy I did!It's hard to find legit red velvet in Jax, I actually told my daughters it was birthday cake worthy That cherry lime made is hard to explain besides pure deliciousness!My youngest got their banana pudding (sorry I didn't get a picture), but she said it was the kind you would remember having at a church function, it's real nana pudding with nilla cookies.We only got dessert and drinks this time, but it's for sure in my list to go back and try the food. By the amount of people inside, it's safe to say... this has to be the best neighborhood gem find!

This was my fist visit I will start with the fried wings and gizzards were amazing they were fresh and hot the taste was GREAT ... the turkeys wings Mac and cheese and collard greens i didnt really care for they were not flavorful .. I will be returning even though it's an hour ride for me

The food was great, had taste for some soul food, also I got an alert from Yelp to support black businesses for Black History Month. The service was great, they were very nice and attentive. The ambiance was great, they have a down home family feel, I loved it, I will be back.

I got the neckbones and rice. It was horrible. Had a terrible stench. Had a to it. Yams taste like the can greens taste like they were frozen, horrible horrible horrible and the prices are too expensive for the quality of food that you receive.
