Sutra Salon

I reached out to Sutra Salon to book a cut and color. I didn't really have much of a preference for my color; I wanted something that would give me some dimension so that when I braided my hair, it wasn't just one vanishing blob of brown. The employee I spoke to booked me an appointment, saying I probably wanted a balayage, and then followed up a few days later, asking for a picture of my hair and an idea of what I wanted to get done. I responded with a picture, mentioning that I had lighter ends from an old dye job, and saying that my main goal was more dimension in the top. I mentioned also that I did not want blonde highlights. I ended the text by asking if that was enough information, expecting that I would be opening a dialogue. The employee responded with "No" and nothing else. No feedback on what other information she might have needed, just "No"I waited a few minutes, thinking maybe she accidentally sent the text before she meant to. Nope! She sent nothing else. I don't profess to be a hair expert; I expect to be able to go to a salon and talk to a stylist to figure out what would work best for me. The fact that the employee had no feedback or input at all was jarring to me.After staring blankly at my phone for a bit, somewhat shocked at the lack of customer service and etiquette, I decided it would be best to cancel my appointment and find another salon. Hilariously, when I called Sutra to cancel, the same employee I'd been texting was the one to answer the phone. Her response to my cancellation without rescheduling? "Perfect" I would definitely not recommend this salon to anyone. I've included a screenshot of my text exchange with the Sutra employee, because receipts, right?

I'm still relatively new to Jacksonville and was searching for a new hair salon. Hair cuts for me are always nerve racking because of past previous experiences I've had. Sutra Salon was recommended to me by a friend and it did not disappoint! I went in for a cut and blow out with Dena and was very happy with the outcome! Dena was friendly, easy to talk to, and efficient. I was in an out in less than an hour and spent no tome waiting. I'll be back for my next cut and am happy to say I've found a salon long term!

I've never been let down at Sutra. Very welcoming atmosphere when you step into this upscale salon. Products are high end and available for purchase. Dena always does a fantastic job but when Dena isn't available I've had no complaints about any other stylist, I never have to worry about having to go home and redo/fix my hair like other salons. Highly recommend. Parking can be a pain but I've never not found a space.

This is such a cool salon. Its very modern and clean inside.They seriously have everything here: hair services/products, makeup, awesome clothes and a bar...yep, bar in a salon, how genius?? You can leave with new hair, new makeup, a new outfit and a great mood.They have a great variety of stylists to help you get whatever look you want.Erica was my girl and she did a great job makin my hair incredible.Highly recommend.

Let me start off by saying that the salon is beautiful and modern and that the staff was friendly and welcoming. Once I was checked in, they offered me a drink and soon after, I met my stylist. Now! on to the good stuff - If you keep your hair short, Bryan is your man!!! I am singing the praises of this beautiful hair genius. During our consultation, he played with my hair - adding styling products to truly understand how my hair responds to styling and decide on the best approach to cut my hair. He was not concerned with time and was meticulous with each snip. I had resigned myself to receiving a mediocre cut that I would hide behind my styling skill. Instead I received the best hair cut ever. It's as if Bryan breathed life into my hair. As an added bonus, I received a paraffin hand spa treatment. It was truly the pampering that I needed.

Sutra Salon is a wonderful salon for anyone. Deanna is an outstanding stylist and I love going there! They also carry the product I use in my hair!

I visited Sutra while traveling after meeting the owner's husband and sharing my recent hair horror story. I was paired with Bryan who was wonderful. First I showed Bryan pictures of the color I was looking for. He then pulled up pictures and asked me questions to ensure we were on the same page. Bryan also walked me through all the prices pre-service which I'm definitely not used to being from Chicago. Bryan recommended products but with no type of pressure or sales pitch and even went out of his way to find me samples to take home. 3 weeks later and my color still looks as rich as when I left the salon! If I'm back in the area I will definitely visit again!

Jackie gave me back ME. She took my hair from an absolute mess to exactly what I wanted. The staff was happy ,so helpful and professional. The place was clean and organized. I moved from North Alabama to Jacksonville and I have found my new stylist thank you Jackie

BEST SALON IN JACKSONVILLE! 11/10. Highly recommend, great workers and my hair turned out AMAZING.

My fourth or fifth visit. Babs, the owner did my hair twice, then switched to Jackie. Babs is great, but $65.00 every 4 weeks was too much.Went yesterday and Jackie did a good job of hair cut, blow dry. We talked about our Christmas plans. Upon checkout , was told that the $35.00 was now $60.00! I got gibberish when protesting the high increase, and called twice today to speak about it. A slight cost of living increase I can understand, but "that's just the price " is not satisfactory! I really would like Babs to make this right and offer me a $25.00 credit.A good haircut is hard to find. Jax Beach is not NYC, prices should NOT be this high or so arbitrary.Waiting . . .
