Surfwiches

Got a chance to pick up a Turkey club today. Ordered it for to go via their in store kiosk. They were clearly slammed, but my order was ready quickly. As usual loaded with bacon and turkey on their excellent sandwich roll.Finally got a pic of this sandwich. To go wrapped so not the best picture.

Crystal and I read about this place on a Facebook foodie page. Crystal's a native Pennsylvanian and takes her Philly cheesesteaks seriously. Surfwiches offers steak and chicken Philly sandwiches, hoagies, hot dog (not your Oscar Meyer dog) with toasted New England style buns, ruebens, and burgers. No fries (I was surprised by that) but they did have Pennsylvania authentic Herr potato chips. The place is in a small, run down strip center and the restaurant looks a little rough. DO NOT LET THAT DETER YOU!We split a steak philly with cheese and onions, she got mushrooms and I refrained. It was served piping hot. It smelled so good that we didn't waste a moment and dove right in. We both forgot to take pictures! We'll go back again. Next time maybe a hotdog!

Real sub shop feel. Very warm welcome. I ordered the chicken Philly cheesesteak, very fresh and delicious. Made quick I ended up eating there small seating but plenty of open tables.

The proverbial hole in the wall- I had seen the sign for Surfwiches off Penman numerous times- but a thread on the Jacksonville Scoops about Cheesesteaks is what brought us in! I grew up about an hour north of Philly, so this was just part of my childhood foods. I love the soft bread (soft but it shouldn't get soggy), delicious meats grilled up with onions and mushrooms for me and a good cheese. All the goodness. They do not ship the Philly bread down because they don't want to use frozen bread- instead they get their rolls directly from Cinnotti's, right next door! I have to admit, I did enjoy the bread! piping hot sandwich hit the spot. The ambiance is..... well, a hole in the wall. A few booths, menu board on the wall above the front door & little to no air conditioning- we happened to go in the evening when the temps were mild, but I honestly feel so bad for the workers, especially the cook! The staff was super friendly- we chatted up how the owners were from Eastern PA & I have to confess- I loved every bite! I think I'll order to go next time- there is another competitor on the other side of town I still need to try just to make up my mind.... who has the best in Jax??? If it is Surfwiches, I will be so happy, because it's the closest to me!!!

There's just something about a sandwich on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.Hubby had been talking up Surfwiches for a while after he tried their cheesesteak last year. We recently planned a little afternoon lunch date and headed over to Jax Beach.We arrived, placed our order on the kiosk and grabbed a couple seats at the counter.A short while later our sandwiches were ready! He ordered the cheesesteak again. I ordered the Italian hoagie. Both were amazing! The cheesesteak was loaded with sliced ribeye steak, melty white American cheese, grilled onions, sweet peppers and cherry peppers. The bread was soft and tasty. Hands down one of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had.The Italian was fantastic! Quality sliced Italian meats, provolone cheese, fresh veggies, oil, vinegar and mayo. Absolutely delicious! For a cold Italian, it was top notch.The service was great as well!I would highly recommend giving them a try!

I was in Jacksonville yesterday and had to stop by Surfwiches. I had heard great reviews of the spot and it was definitely a solid spot.I walked in and had the place to myself around 3:30 pm. The guy at the counter pointed to the kiosk and went ahead and ordered my food. I went with the Italian, add long hots and garlic peppercorn mayo. I also ordered a cheese steak with cherry peppers, garlic pepper corn mayo, and cooper sharp cheese. I grabbed a seat and my food came up quickly. Both sandwiches looked great. I started with the Italian. It was a really well balanced sandwich. The flavor waa incredible. It was super fresh and sliced to order. Absolutely perfect. I then moved into the cheesesteak. It had steamed a bit in the wrapper and softened the bread just the way I like it. The combo of the mayo, cherry pepper, and cooper sharp was perfect. Bread was nice and soft, not super crusty like some. I enjoyed every bite.Overall, I really enjoyed my visit to Surfwiches. They make a great hoagie and cheese steak. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great sandwich.

Man. I have been sleeping on Surfwiches for entirely too long. Hidden off of Penman near the beaches you'll find this glorious sub shop. Their Italian is the hoagie of dreams. Sliced to order too! Their cheesesteak may be the best in Jacksonville. Proper with white American and the bread you ask? The bread makes these sandwiches to die for. If you're in the area, or if you're looking for some fire sandwiches, check them out! Please!

Love that every sandwich is made to order! It takes a little bit more time, but I don't mind because I know it's fresh and customized to how I want it. I love the Philly cheesesteaks and their Italian sub.

Out of town person review . Great find , The Italian rocked . Lives up to its yelp rating for sure.

So we ordered a large cheesesteak for $16. And a kids cheesesteak for $9.50. And this is what we received. Are you fucking kidding??? That isn't a cheesesteak. It's a hamburger. What a joke. You are the worst!! A hamburger bun??! Not even a small cheesesteak??? Are you that cheap???? Don't ever buy from this place again. And I love love their food. That will be the last time ever. You suck. What a joke.
