Starvin Like Marvin

Went on a lunch break from the Wellness Summit (FSCJ Downtown Campus) ... glad it's close by! The brick mortar location was closed, but the food truck was in the lot next to it. Turns out there was a pipe burst and they had to vacate the location, hoping to get back into it. Nonetheless, they took care of their patrons. Food was fresh and crispy! Didn't exexpect that since it was so quick! And it wasn't drenched in oil, like some places. Very pleased! Went with the Shrimp and fried okra combo. Sooooooo good! They didn't have any specialty sauces available, but they did have hot sauce. Lucky for me, I like hot sauce. And the small hawaiian roll to accompany it, perfect sweet treat to tie it all together. Thanks to Starvin Like Marvin, I was no longer starving. Hehe. It was my first meal all day! My day started at 6am, so this was a great delight at 1230pm! Definitely go check them out! It's worth it!

I've been hearing about Starvin Like Marvin through word of mouth for a long time and finally got the chance to stop by. I love the vibe! Small but not super crowded, about five tables and several seats at the bar available for dine-in. The staff were super welcoming and hospitable! The music sets the mood with some nice old school R&B and Soul. It felt like my cousins told me they were cooking and told me to stop by lol. I chose to sit at the bar and ordered the wings and shrimp basket. I love that everything is made fresh to order! The shrimp were so fresh they tasted like they swam out of the ocean and jumped into the fryer. The chicken was flavorful and juicy, had the perfect level of crisp without being burnt. I also love the hot sauce selection. Everything was so fresh I wanted to finish my food on the spot, but ended up having to take some to-go because I was stuffed.Overall, this place is solid with great taste at a decent price. I'm glad I made it in and will definitely be back!

I think these photos are from the first visit, not the last. I've gotten breakfast from this place and it was okay. I opted for the fish and it had bones. Still tasty, but I would've gotten the salmon crochet instead. Aug 2024I ordered the egg,grits, and shrimp with a side pancake. They left the pancake out the bag, even though they put syrup in the bag. I called and they said they'd have it ready. Had to walk back, then back to work. We only got three shrimp in the breakfast platter. I also asked for no cheese, they made the order again, but still included cheese.

I have been hearing about this place for some time. Today I visited with co-workers and let's just say it did not disappoint. First the customer service was superb. Secondly the food came pretty quick and it was piping hot. Lastly the food was great. My shrimp were cooked to perfection. The whiting was well seasoned and piping hot. I also had the hot lemon pepper wings . The wings were good but a little too hot for my liking. Overall great. Will definitely be visiting again

I've been to this restaurant multiple of times and have never taken a picture of my food. Why not? I start eating as soon as I get my tray. I've ordered something different every time and haven't been disappointed.The young men that work and cook there are so polite and well mannered. My food is always right. I've had 10 pc fried shrimp and fries. The shrimp are nice size and devine. I've had the pork chop sandwiches, it didn't come with fries. I've had the 6 piece breaded wings and shrimp. The wings were delicious and fried just right. The location is a nice small place on Ashley. You won't miss it because people are always going in and out.I suggest you call your order in and pay by phone because they cook to order and wait time can be about 15-20 minutes.

Everything was fresh & delicious even though they were getting ready to close! 8.5 out of 10 ! Great customer service, friendly staff ! Will be going back

I love this place!! So good, next time I'll remember to take pics. But both times I got the fried snapper, fried shrimp, and French fries and it's SO GOOD! Normally I love hot sauce with my fried fish, but I promise you don't even need it! It's that good and seasoned. It also comes with white bread and it's lightly toasted which is another plus! The staff is always very nice and helpful! I've also tried the fried lobster tail which is AMAZING! And the wings are really good too! I will eventually try their breakfast, but it's not as close to me so I will have to get up early. It's a small establishment but it's really clean and cozy. Moving to FL, I always tried looking for somewhere to give me the perfect fried fish and this is definitely the one!

Went based on reviews. However this place was not very good and the server forgot our salad. They were out of most of the side options and the food was good but it was limited.

I was quickly looking for a small bite to eat before going into work and ran in this restaurant. The restaurant was clean. The service was fast and friendly. I ordered the shrimp bowl the food was fresh it was a 7/10

Always Good! Made to order is how I prefer most food and this spot does it so well. Without the long wait. I chose to dine in today. I Walked right up to the counter - ordered, paid and found a table with equal amounts of sunshine & shade. Took a seat and then decided I'd like to read while waiting, ran out to grab my book and before I could even get into it, my ticket number was called. Delicious, fresh-tasting red snapper and shrimp combo (fries included). I was stuffed halfway through and took the rest home for later. Great service, friendly faces, really good food! Can't go wrong! I love it every time!
