Southern Grounds

I believe a fitting description would be "The Taj Mahal of coffee shops." The first time I came here, I had to make sure I was in the right place, because no joke....I thought I walked into a posh, grandiose hotel lobby. Now don't get me wrong, this is by no means a "snob shop." This is a well-known, established business in the heart of Avondale. I could spend a good amount of time here parked on a comfy couch doing some people watching, daydreaming about winning the lottery, or stuffing my face. Speaking of which....The Noms: From breakfast to brunch on over to lunch....they've got you covered. Come hungry. Those of you that are able to walk right past the mouthwatering desserts and pastries and order a salad....I applaud your restraint. Here are just 2 of my faves, and I have many....The Eggnog Bourbon Cake: I wait EVERY YEAR for the holidays to come around so I can get my greedy little hands on this cake. I don't even bother waiting for this to come to room temp (it's served chilled), I just dive right in, last meal on earth style. The Chocolate Twist: Braided pastry with mini chocolate chips. Flaky on the outside, soft and creamy on the inside. Perfect with a cold glass of milk or a toasty hot chocolate. I got 2 on my last visit and ate them both as if they were calorie-free. Aside from the appetizing pastries, of course, there's a hearty assortment of coffee drinks, wines, gourmet sandwiches, healthier-fare options, Tartines, and even Steak Frittes. Southern Grounds Coffee Shop is indeed a sight to behold, and an experience to savor. So gather up your laptop or the besties and go show this awesome local business some love! This is a Great coffee shop, which is what I was looking for. But it is far more than that. The extensive full menu is available all day and night, and is excellent! Had a chocolate croissant and later the grilled chix sandwich, both great. Service was outstanding!Meredith was particularly helpful when I had trouble getting on their wifi. The wifi was the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. It worked for about 20 minutes of the 90 or so minutes I was there. I then told them I had to go to Starbucks where the wifi always works but that I would come back; which I did since this place was open until 9, SB closes at 8. Tried so he wifi again, no dice. A router or service upgrade may help but I will definitely be back.

Grabbed a few sweet treats for my PTA mom friends. It was my first time there from hearing my mom saying the omelette was delicious but I didn't have time to grab one that time. The girl was new but she was helpful and sweet.Matcha Latte 4/10 Didn't taste any matcha at all and kinda wateryMexican Hot Chocolate Tart 5/10 Has a spicy kick after 2 bites. Love the tart crust and whip topping and mini chocolate chipsBrown Bourbon Peach Cake 8/10 Loved everything about it. The cake was moist. The peach filling is just enough with the light and fluffy frosting. Loved the inside of the building. Different from any other coffee shops I been too especially the unique art pieces around.

Been here at the Southern Grounds, Avondale for few times now and so far the experience I had was spectacular. We always try to go here early morning, before 9:00am because anything after that especially on the weekend will be a little chaos since they can get pretty busy and since they are located in Avondale parking is always a hassle. Ambiance here is very nice, very spacious and bright. They did an amazing job for doing that since when you are here all you want to do is stay there and drink/ eat and just relax. Food has always been great here, I ordered the Greek omellete and added sausage and a side of pancake and all of them are good! They also have a wide variety of menu from breakfast, lunch and dinner and they also offer desserts and alcohol! But like what I said earlier, this place can get very busy and it is a first come first serve on the tables. Southern Grounds always give the best quality and great service and this is definitely a great addition to the Avondale area.

The cutest shop ever! Lots of study and work place! All forms of seating! The food is amazing and they have all you could think of, I prefer the lox bagel or the grit bowl! Even got it to go today, it was great! They are super quick despite being busy 24/7! 7 am is the prime time! They offer online orders if you're in a rush! I highly recommend! This is also the best location if you're trying to decide which shop to go to!

One of my favorite cafes. The location is great and the cafe is bright, vibrant, and clean. The staff are always friendly and service is quick.I come here pretty often to sit in and work on my laptop. The great amount of tables and outlets makes this a great place for this.My usual order is a cold brew with one of their syrup flavors (my favorites: sugar free vanilla, hazelnut, cinnamon toast). Their cold brew is really tasty, not overly bitter. They also have a bakery case with amazing treats, my favorite being the lavender pecan bar and their blueberry muffin. Definitely a great spot to visit for tasty coffee, food, baked goods, and even wine and beer!

Come into Southern Grounds for some delicious pastries in Riverside Jax. The building is large and open good for working or just relaxing. The service is quick. You order at the counter and they bring you food. The pastries were amazing. You have to get the lavender almond bar. The bagel was okay. The coffee delicious and lots of flavors to choose from. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Jax.

If I could rate this 10 stars out of 5, I would. This is THE coffee shop/bakery that I bring all out of town guests to when they come to visit.The desserts are mouth watering, the coffee is life-changing, the staff is kind and you want to sit in there for hours working due to how chill it feels in there.This is another business that supports military with a discount and has a great reward program too!!

I always love going to Southern Grounds. This location is very spacious and the staff are always super friendly. I popped in for lunch and ordered the chicken grain bowl and it did not disappoint. Their drinks are also really good! Great spot to get some work done or have a study sesh.

Exceptional! The ambiance, the art.. the FOOD! We have been a dozen times and this place delivers every single time. We have had just about everything on the menu. The kitchen slams! Food is fresh and tastes as if it is actually made in house.
