Smoking D's Downtown

I have been a faithful customer of Smokin' D's BBQ for over a decade! We have traveled far and wide for some ribs on many occasion. My family lived in St Augustine for many years and SD's was our go to spot for all things BBQ!!! Their ribs and brisket are to die for!!! Pretty sure I heard they smoke their meats for 7+ hours....ohhhhh yeah!!!! Never forget the homemade sauces!! This review is based on my new SD's experience. We came up for a weekend at the beach and decided to give the Downtown St Aug/ Ponce de Leon location a try because the SR 206 location is ALWAYS packed. We figured it was only right to spread the love!! WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! The smells engulfed my nostrils before I ever turned into the driveway! The cute smoke house was just the right size and I enjoyed watching the meat come right out of the smoker then sliced and diced right in front of me. Cameron P the pit master was definitely doing his thing! My budget was $100...we got 2 full slabs, a pound of beef brisket, and a half chicken! Our total was $100.11.....and of course we thru the crew a tip because we appreciated the love and work they put into their magnificent products. We will maintain our loyalty to Smokin' D's, but we found our new favorite location.

I've had BBQ all around the south and the pulled pork isn't good . It's supposed to be pulled pork but it comes out cubed and not shredded or tender. ( Not toMention chunks of fat ) . They don't have Mac and Cheese and the sides are not anything to write home about.. it's like rice , coleslaw and potato salad . Sorry I love local spots but I'm through with being disappointed with Smokin Ds I'd recommend MoJos, Bonos, Woodpeckers, anything but this place.

People that work there are very rude and we will never eat there again. Lost a customer forever.

When we asked what the guy liked he said "Everything is good , best you have ever had"I have had BBQ across 25 states and never once have I heard an employee so confident about their BBQI was a little skeptical but ordered a whole chicken , brisket , pork and a slab of ribs .Conclusion best BBQ I have ever had and the house sauce is just that damn good , tender , juicy and flavorful meatsHad to hold back on eating everything since it was 2 nights of foodBonus is all 3 guys working were really cool and the local repeat customers were awesome Total 5/5 stars

OMG! My husband and I are locals since August 2023 and we've been hunting for some good old BBQ ! He and I have been visiting historic St. Augustine long before we moved here. In fact every time we came into town we said we would stop in and try some and we'd always forget or say next time! Man were we missing out! We always said Mojo was the best barbecue in town, but not anymore! I'm going to be telling everyone about SMOKIN D's! In fact they were out of brisket when we went in so tomorrow we're gonna go back and get some! No one else compares! Staff was friendly and quick getting the food out to us. I loved the country feel of the building. Even bought a t-shirt!

This place is absolutely fantastic. We had ribs, chicken, brisket, and pork. Every last bit was incredible. The coleslaw, yellow rice, and baked beans were all perfect too. If you're looking for good BBQ, this is the spot. Just be warned, it's first come first serve, so if they run out of something it's gone for the day, and there's no inside dining room. Luckily, the outside "picnic" area is shaded and beautiful. And the service was so kind, helpful, and quick. 10/10 recommend.

Great little place with a nice view of the marsh & river. The barBQ pork sandwich was on toast and perfect & flavorful, not too greasy. My side of fresh potato salad was also very fresh and delicious. They have a choice of 5 or 6 sauces -- I had the Florida which has our St. Augustine local datil pepper in it. It was not too spicey -- just right. The iced tea & lemonade (I mix them) was also great for barBQ on a warm sunny day -- in February! Love my Florida weather sittin by the river. I have previously tried their other location on Rt1 & 206 and it is just as Great -- smoking meats & great service. There is also some nice merchandise for purchase. The baby onesie, mug, and tshirts are nicely done with a humorous message or 2.

This barbecue spoke to my soul. I understand the meaning of "soul food" now. Thank you smoking D's, you will always be a part of my foodie memories.

Fabulous food! Outstanding ribs. Worth the hype! Service was great. Recommend highly! Will certainly be back. Plenty of food! 5 stars plus and then some!

Good things can't last forever. Had dry brisket, chicken, and tasteless slaw. This used to be our go to place.
