I'm going to start by saying I was born and raised in Los Angeles and then lived in San Diego for most of my time.I have a high bar for Mexican food, and this place nailed it. I could tell from the moment I walked in and saw the decor, stage, and menu. The food came out incredibly fast and was fresh/amazing. I had the Carne Asada plate and a margarita, both were home runs. It's a big open place, so everything is ordered at the counter. That's probably the only thing I was not thrilled with, but it still worked fairly well.Would highly recommend.

Transitional period, eager to see the changes they have coming.Previously 5 stars, I'm sure it'll go back... the reason I always choose this place is the salsa bar. For about 10 years they've always had 5 different salsas, the last few times I've been here they've only had 2, this time they are out of the traditional table salsa and didn't have anything spicy. Not a big deal. The cashier did say they are transitioning to a Mexican-Colombian-Peruvian menu but they don't have it printed yet. I'm anxious to see and try some new options! I just hope they bring all the salsas back.My pastor sopes are huge and fully loaded- a great value at 9.99 for the 2.

Tried this place again for the 2nd time... friends said I had to give it another chance. FYI Their name has just recently changed to Tres Tierras. They may be rebranding so be aware the menu may change. Service was horrible. He was friendly but was slow and the place was not busy at all. Had to ask for things 2 and even 3 times. It was a wed night at 8. Had the torta and it was just ok. Bread actually tasted sweet so that was weird. Also salsa was watery and extra chips and salsa is $2.99 extra after the first serving.

I'm not really sure what the hype is about here. We came on a Thursday night and it was dead. Food was pretty bad. And drinks were worse. I got Mexican tacos and Cazuela. The tacos were very dry. And the Cazuela was just bad. Would not recommend anyone eat here.

I used to love this place. I'm not always over in this part of town, so I haven't been in a bit. Went yesterday and ordered a burrito. Asked if I could have mine with carnitas, the lady taking my order said yes. Then right before she gave me the total, confirmed I said carnitas. When the food came out, it was not carnitas, but chicken. Bland and boiled chicken at that. I ate about half and took the rest home. Not even sure if I will be able to eat the rest. It just lacked flavor. Maybe it was an off day, I don't know. I will give it another try before I write them off however. As someone who grew up with authentic SoCal Mexican, this place and one or two others in Jax are as close as I can get. A positive is the salsa bar. The mild red is what is San Diegans know and love. IYKYK!

Food was okay. Served warm. Drink special margarita was 90% ice for $3.99Service was terrible. We were a large party of 23 who called weeks ahead and they said they could accommodate. Tuesday night at 7:00. Two different waiters took our orders. Orders were mixed up. People were missed and their food never came out. Two people walked out, waiting for their food after everyone else had finished eating. Manager did not come out to explain what was going on, or to apologize, until someone from our table asked to speak to him. Ambiance is not inviting or pleasant as the staff is very unorganized and flustered. They need to get it together or they will not last. Too many good Mexican restaurants in Jax to go back here!!

First time at this restaurant and unfortunately not very good. We got seated immediately but it went downhill from there until we left. First thing I noticed was the loud music; I felt like I was at a dance club. It took a while for the server to come over and when she did, she wanted to confirm our order. I said we never placed an order cause nobody has been over. She proceeded to tell us about the menu that it was Peru and Mexican food and said she recommends the items from Peru. I was excited to try something new so I ordered a chicken entree. Well it was so very basic. All on the plate was - a salad, plain white rice, a few fried potatoes and chicken with a bland spice/sauce. Nobody came back over to ask how things were or refill our sodas. So we won't be visiting again. Positive - portions were big.
