Shores Liquors and Bar

Liquor store with a drive-thru window attached to a good sized bar complete with pool tables and games.I love that they have a huge outside patio with 2-4 person tables/chairs. You are allowed to smoke outside and bring your drinks, but from what I gathered you order your drinks inside at the bar.There's a kitchen, but I have yet to order the food here. There was no table service on the patio the few times I have come here, but a popular spot for locals. Fridays are busy starting around 4PM with very reasonable draft beer prices. Free liquor tastings inside the liquor store this last visit sampling Old St. Petersburg Distillery products based out of Tampa, FL complete with swag!Overall, great customer service, very chill atmosphere and reasonably priced libations located right on St. Johns Ave. in Avondale. Check 'em out!

The Shores or "Montey's" is an Avondale Staple. Located next to the Shores Liquor Store. This is the industry bar on Monday nights. Great prices on import and domestic draft beer. They open at noon daily if you need a quick beer on your lunch break. They always have some sports on, also have darts and a pool table

This review is for the bar. The irony that the first picture on yelp is of ashtrays on one of the outdoor tables kinda says it all. I have allergies to cigarette smoke and you have to walk by the patio to get inside. Holding my breath is a thing. Inside is a dark and divey bar- a couple of screens played sporting events. There are some dart boards just inside the door too. I was meeting Debbie F there and she had said they have cheap drinks. I ordered an old fashioned and the first thing that struck me was there wasn't any orange peel. It also was light colored instead of the traditional golden color. The drink was strong and fine, not anything to right home about- but it was also $5 each- which is unheard of. We enjoyed a couple cocktails. The bartender was great, handling a full bar with ease. We left just as people were pouring through the door. Not bad- just not my scene.

Just had an unfortunate incident with the liquor store part of Shores. I love their sales and typically solid service. Not today. An older lady rang me up and bagged my bourbon and sweet vermouth in a ( I didn't notice) single plastic bag. Upon arriving home as I lifted the bag it broke and the buffalo trace smashed on the ground. I then realized it was all packed in a flimsy single plastic dollar tree type of bag. I immediately went back to the store expecting an apology and a quick replacement. That did not happen. The older lady had the audacity to ask me where the bag was??!!! ( I brought back the bottle ). As if I was trying to scam them?!! It took me a total of 7 minutes to leave and return btw. She never apologized and got the young woman that was working there to assist. Neither acted as if they knew what to do..I was a bit upset that somehow I'm being blamed. They called someone and made me wait uncomfortably for a few minutes. They younger woman finally gave me a new bottle and apologized. That should have been it but oh no..... she said" we won't to do that again , once it's off property it's your issue. I told her " Nope.. you packed it incorrectly that's on the store ( the rude lady.)In reality she should pay for it . We all know they can write off so much money in spillage. Just a crappy way to handle it on their end. What happened to taking care of the customer and being professional. I can assure you that the last Penny I spend at that liquor store.

Wow! First time in there and was taken back! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and asked if I needed help finding anything. I said that I knew what I wanted but I would grab it myself... I think the guy could read minds because he walked me to all 8 bottles I came for, checked me out and then insisted on helping me carry the box to my car because I had my baby in tow with me. My other little one also got a lollipop that they give with each receipt! 10/10 I wish I had gotten the guys name, but he was the only one I saw with long hair.. so if you go in and see him working, you're in luck! The greatest of the great with customer service! And they have a huge selection of liquors (bigger than abc with comparable prices) and a corner cigar booth/bar.

Pretty large space with an outdoor covered seating too. Parking is always pretty horrible in Avondale but that's a given. The bartenders are nice and friendly. Beer was okay. The Stella was close to stale but the Oktoberfest was decent.

This is a legit liquor store. Yes, you can drive through and order up your old favorite, but I highly recommend perusing the aisles for a little while -- they have a deep selection of liquors, especially whiskey and rum, and they run frequent discounts which you wouldn't know about unless you go in and check them out. I've gotten some true steals just by walking around. It's also a great place to pick up a cold bottle of something sparkling or decent bottle of wine for a party last minute, because you can inevitably get something for a good price. The only downside is having to walk in through the unbelievably heavy cloud of smoke hovering over the bar area, but just hold your nose and fight through.

I walked into to shores liquor at 157am and was laughing and told the guy that worked there that I'm in the bar talking and stuff like I got all the time in the world lol and he laughed and said well you got 50 seconds and when I grabbed the bottle as soon as he said that and was at the counter, instead of ringing it up he said sorry the register says 201 so can't do it etc. like why act like we have almost a minute when I came up in probably not even 15 seconds when you said that I had 50 seconds? The bottle was legit right by the cashier counter. It was for real just a bs scenario. Kept apologizing as if it did t just go down like that. Really unprofessional and it's cool cuz I have liquor at home and was just tryna get the type my home girl likes but it's the principle

Shores Liquors is a liquor with a small footprint but a huge selection. I was staggered by the curated selection of high end spirits and wine. They also carry a full inventory of "mixing" spirits at prices that are very competitive with much larger chain stores.

Update on the liquor store, Shores has made a lot of improvements since my review years ago. The cigarette smoke issue is no longer an issue, and they have a great selection for a relatively small space with often several high end or specialty items.
