came to jax to celebrate a bday and wanted to check out a local dive bar. this is the perfect spot. everyone was so cool and fun. it was karaoke night and we were having a blast. the backyard is really cool as well. they have free plants which is great. good spot for sure

This place wasn't really my vibe. Came for a friend who was DJing. The spot itself is quaint, three outside dressing area was really nice. I didn't like the smoking inside, smelled horrible. Crowd was mostly older, they had a decent beer selection which was nice. Overall fine, just not my kind of place

Super chill spot I stumbled into after work. We had time to kill and a $20 to break so I suggested walking in Shanty Town because we literally drove into the parking lot while lost. I recognized the art decorating the entrance from local artist Shaun Thurston which fueled my decision to step inside.For $11, me and my man got a pint of Purple Haze, sake shot, and nice glass of cabernet. With 16 beers on top, total of 70 beers available, and a surprisingly nice selection of wine, I was impressed for a dive bar!The walls are decorated with fierce, portraits of wild animals that literally take up every inch of the wall. The back patio is covered in grafitti with lots of seating space. I'm sure this is the chill hours before the bands breakout most evenings but it makes for an interesting place to grab a drink after work.

What a hidden gem this is .. everyone should visit this place. Full of music, amazing vibes, and chill atmosphere..

What a hidden treasure- can't believe we had not been here before! Marianne greeted us when we walked in and served us right away. Great service; nice selection of beer and wine; cozy place (super clean!) with eclectic decor and friendly patrons. The DJ played a great mix of rap and oldies on the Friday we were there. The backyard space is magical with huge oaks and lots of groupings (covered and uncovered) of chairs, tables, and benches. Prices are already reasonable, but there is a happy hour, too.

Hands down my favorite place to disassociate in Jacksonville, FL. I think about it fondly when I'm in different cities - - like how I'm doing so now.

Been coming here for about 10 years, dope bar, dope shows. I'm enjoying the dope DJ right now.

Cool Music Nightclub. Saw some trendy bands play there when I lived in JAX.

I've been going to Shanty forever because of the chill backyard, the smoking friendly bar and the ocassional good show. This is the place you want to go spend 20 bucks top

A fun and unique watering hole. Definitely recommend. Great back area so there's plenty of room for socializing. It's a great landmark in the neighborhood and is a good bet for visitors. Would drink again.
