Schmagel's Bagels

Schmagel's Bagels is a cute little spot in St. Augustine offering fresh bagels and yummy schmears. We stopped by around 9:30 am on a weekday and thankfully, they had plenty of bagels! We got the French toast bagel with honey almond cream cheese. What a delicious dessert bagel! And they are so generous with the cream cheese. We also got an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on the jalapeño cheddar bagel with scallion cream cheese. WOW! I love that their bagel has pickled jalapeños on top. So delicious though the cream cheese didn't taste strongly of scallions.Overall, really enjoyed this spot and would definitely come back!

A gem hidden in the historic downtown district!!! Fresh. Huge bagels. Happy people. An absolutely delicious experience! Love finding local small businesses to support. After reading the reviews, it is OBVIOUS that people have no idea what it takes to be a small business offering excellent, freshly made food, without wasting food..... The margin on restaurants serving food run thin and tight. Of course it is disappointing to have Schmagel's run out or not be able to sell you a dozen because you didn't pre-order, but that is NOT a reason to leave a poor review. Schmagel's Bagels food is EXCELLENT, and I stand by my original review. I add: if you want some of their great food: go early. They run out because people eat it all up!

Good breakfast stop at Schmagel's bagels recently. It had been a while since my last visit. The people taking our order and prepping them were pleasant and friendly, the service quick. I had the breakfast sandwich (everything bagel, butter, egg and cheese). The bagels here are really good, the egg and choice of cheese hits well. It is a really good breakfast sandwich. I ordered the coffee as well. It's more of a medium roast so if you enjoy bold, strong coffee, you may want to add to it. I was surprised to see that all seating is entirely outside now. You used to have the option of indoor or outdoor. This can be problematic in St Augustine with the extremes in weather. Not a deal breaker, but it was a bit cold during our visit and there are no heaters. Another opportunity is the price point. It's a bit high for what you get. The sandwich I ordered was only egg and cheese and it was almost $8. Other specialty sandwiches can run between $14-16. Two regular breakfast sandwiches, bottled water and a regular coffee-$23. This is still a good spot. It's always crowded. Sells out often. For me, it's ideal for strictly bagels and carry out at this point. Solid place. Give them a try.

Quaint small shop with delicious bagels. I got there at 10:15am and got one of the last bagels they had. By 10:30am they had put out a sign saying they ran out of bagels and were closed. I saw many people walk up and see the sign and leave disappointed after figuring out they were actually closed. Seems like you would make a few more bagels instead of running out at the peak of breakfast hours. I did pay $12 for a bacon, egg and cheese with jalapeño cream cheese on a garlic bagel, no drink or anything else. I guess they can afford to work half as much if you charge twice as much. The bagel was very good but this place seems like tourist trap with the price gouging.

Stopped by here on a Sunday morning and would highly recommend. They have tons of options but be warned flavors run out fast and they close once they sell out. I ordered an onion bagel breakfast sandwich with jalapeño cream cheese, sausage, and egg (a choice driven by few options to choose from due to other flavors being sold out). While we were enjoying our bagels outside the shop, we watched them sell completely out! Definitely somewhere I'll be returning to on my next trip!

It's been a while since we stayed in town instead of just coming for the day. We wanted a quick place for breakfast, so we opted for the short walk from our AirBnB to this bagel place. First and foremost, the bagels are great. Happy for a whole wheat everything bagel option. We are surprised that they no longer have indoor seating. It was a chilly morning but we decided to eat on the outside patio rather than walk our food back to the place we were staying. The rise in prices was a bit shocking too, one of the more interesting bagel sandwiches was priced at $15.95. We both decided to go with a simple egg and cheese bagel, mine with scallion cream cheese and his with butter. Both were warm and delicious when they arrived but soon got cold due to the weather. My husband ordered a coffee but was disappointed in the taste. I opted for a bottled water. Not sure why, but when paying, the bill rounded up to the next whole dollar amount. Service was good and would have loved the outside patio as an option of the weather was warmer.

Stopped by to take a bagel sandwich to go last weekend after reading the fabulous reviews about Schmagel's Bagels. Shop is small inside but plenty of seating outside. The server was supe friendly and fast when taking orders. I ordered the taylor ham egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and wow it was so good! The sesame bagel was fresh and so were the toppings. Love that they close once they sell out each day so that you know that the bagel you're getting is fresh! Definitely would come back next time I am in town!

Absolute best bagel sandwich ever. The Dirty Duval is massive however I will be dreaming of that breakfast sandwich for years to come.

The bagels and cream cheese were very good. There were plenty of options for different flavors. The service was quick.

Delish bangle highly recommended, the cream cheese is amazing, employee was so nice, and the ambiance was lovely
