Salty Pelican Bar & Grill

Food was tasty. Specials are available each evening and are creative additions to the regular menu bringing locally available food to customers. Our son was glad that he tried the bacon lobster grilled cheese. My wife was slightly disappointed that she couldn't order a cheese quesadilla off the kids menu. She was looking for this as vegetarian items are a bit limited. She was able to order the Mac and cheese sans meat (although not on menu). Not everyone wants the Impossible burger. The kids enjoyed the salted pretzel with cheese.The waitress, Reez, was friendly and efficient. She regularly refilled drinks and made sure we were taken care of.Restaurant has a great view of sunset and the water. The SEC Championship football game was on tv...restaurant was a bit loud, so pick your times to go to the Salty Pelican around major sporting events unless you are trying to catch the game!Recommend.

So good we went twice in one week! The patio is nice with a great view and though extremely busy, the service staff were friendly and extremely attentive. The seafood was fresh and the dishes were simple yet done well. Highly recommend the peel and eat shrimp, crab dip, big pretzel, and taco specials. Only reason for less than five stars was the hosts and wait time. It felt like it could be more organized and improve the wait time.

This is a busy place at sunset because of the amazing view over the water. We were seated upstairs which is a bar with a ledge and a few tables. We sat at the bar and service was great. I had shrimp tacos and mashed potatoes which both were delicious. They have Coke products, including Coke Zero.

Stumbled upon this restaurant last night for dinner, as the reviews said it had great food and views of the sunset. We were seated quickly indoors, as most people want to second story views of the water or porch view. Our waitress was helpful and attentive and had recommendations for the daily specials. I ordered the short rib and garlic mashed potatoes and my husband ordered the surf and turf entree. We also ordered a salad and Brussels as appetizers. The Brussels were good, but very greasy. The salad lacked enough dressing and was pretty dry. The entrees both arrived relatively quickly and I was ready to dive in, but on my first bite it was evident that my meal had been microwaved, because my mashed potatoes were ice cold. I sent them back to the kitchen and they were back in record time. They lacked flavor and looked underwhelming. My husband had the surf and turf entree and the steak had some blackening seasoning. His flavor was better than mine but his lobster looks sad. No manager came to the table to address our meal mishap. It was an overall disappointing meal for our last night in town. For the sunset and view I would recommend, but not for the food.

The Salty Pelican comes up in a lot of travel guides, so I knew I had to check it out. I tried their restaurant week special (shrimp and grit cakes with goat cheese) and their blackened fish tacos. The shrimp were well flavored and the grit cakes were very creamy, which paired which well. The fish in the tacos was very dry though and the tacos overall lacked flavor. It filled up very quickly for Sunday brunch even on off-season though so come early to snag a table with a view of the water.

We sat upstairs at the bar! Gave I'd peel and eat shrimp, good drinks good service ! Upstairs is a great atmosphere and relaxed!

Super friendly and attentive service. The food was delicious. Good services and lots of options. It was busy both times we went (we came back that next day because we enjoyed it do much) and still no issues or complaints. Parking is only about a block away/across the street.

I enjoyed my time at the Salty Pelican! I came around lunch but if you do come around sunset, you will definitely have a great view! Sat at the bar area facing the water, service was fast and overall it was a great beachy atmosphere. The food was amazing! We ordered the two signature apps and it did not disappoint. MUST ORDER BOTH!What I ordered:- CRAB DIP: Served Hot with Toast Points- TUNA NACHOS: Seared Tuna, Seaweed Salad, Goat Cheese, Wasabi Sesame Seeds, Pico de Gallo, served over Blackened Wonton Chips

This came highly recommended - and I would recommend as well. The food here was great all around - from the tuna nachos (super tasty and Asian inspired), to the seafood pot pie (superb) and the shrimp poboy (seasoning was awesome).The tuna nachos are huge so I'd recommend sharing that for a big group.The place is nice - the inside has a bunch of TVs with various sports on. I think a lot of locals and tourists come here and you won't be disappointed. Service was decent although, given the size of the space and how popular it is, the waitress we had had to manage a lot
