This is a late review but we went here during game weekend early November. I am a big lover of seafood and this did not disappoint. We got there around 3 and it was packed so we ended up sitting on the dock. It was quite sunny but not unbearable. Food was really prompt. You order at a register and take a pager number to a table of your picking after stopping by the drink counter. Like I said it was game weekend and so packed so we sat under no coverage but really enjoyed the view of the water and people coming in and out on their boats. We gave us clams strips by mistake instead of calamari and then brought us the calamari as well so we were loaded with food. Everything was really well seasoned and fresh. We left with two full boxes of leftover.

The ambiance is unbeatable and is perfect for a peaceful lunch out on the docks. The seafood is incredibly fresh and you get great portions for the price. (They also offer a military discount which is a bonus) My favorite meal is the blackened scallops basket. Thanks to everyone who works hard there to put out tasty seafood! This use to be my favorite spot over 10 years ago. Well, after last night I'm afraid to ever visit this spot ever again. The food was absolutely horrible!! Calamari was fried to hard, shrimp were not up to usual standards and the six I got were an insult. The fish were just okay and the scallops were small and unimpressive. The most you get are French fries, that are hard and tasteless. the hush puppies were nothing but grease balls! I don't know what happen to you guys but you need to go back to the old days this was a very disappointing experience.

Safe Harbor in Mayportis not a restaurant and fish market: rather it is an institution. Sweet Mayport shrimp, scallops, and fish make the 20' transit from fishing boats to your plate in no time, ensuring dome of the freshest seafood in town. And while I prefer its neighbor Singleton's for their mastery of the fryer, Safe Harbor wins when it comes to sides and soups. The special today was Savanah crab soup: a rich and savory bowl of sweet crab and a hint of Sherry. Wonderful stuff. And the collard greens rival anything else I have had in the deep south with flecks of ham and a savory and porky richness. While Singleton's has table service, at Safe Harbor one lines up to order and pay at the front counter, where service is friendly and helpful. They are happy to share insights into what is freshest and in peak season...do take their advice as it is always on target. This no frills fish shack is no nonsense but very reliable.

Safe Harbor is one of the few seafood restaurants I really want to eat at. I like that I can customize my basket to exactly what I want. This last visit I opted for a clam strip basket with sweet potato fries. I ordered extra hush puppies too, they are the tastiest around. My son had chicken strip and fries and he was very happy with his meal. The service is always friendly and the food is fresh. The wait can be long especially on the weekend. The location is a little far out but it's a beautiful area. The only complaint I have is the portions don't seem to be set in anyway. My sister ordered clam strips, she had about half the amount I did and her's were mostly bits of batter rather than pieces of clam. I think they need to work on this. The crab cake also had shell last time. I understand it's seafood and this happens, but they should really take care to ensure no one breaks a tooth on shell.

A local favorite & must visit in Jacksonville! They've recently extended the seafood market across the street so that the lines are a bit shorter, but expect to wait a while for seating on busy days. I highly recommend getting the captain seafood platter as you can pick multiple fresh items. I'm a big fan of any of the fried fish and a lovely side salad. They will often have a smoked fish and dip. That is a great start to the meal while you wait on your entrées. Crabcakes I've heard our fantastic as well. What's cool about this restaurant is a lot of the employees are local young men who are offered the opportunity for self development. Food arrives quickly and is delicious with homemade cocktail and tartar sauce. There is indoor and outdoor seating, but if you sit outside, make sure to bring a jacket on cold or windy days. There is a restroom, but it may be a challenge for people who are handicap to get to the outdoor seating. Parking is limited and they require you to park in the dirt or on the side of the road.

The place is well known for fresh great seafood. I disagree. The lobster roll is awful in flavor and texture. One bite that is all. The calamari was inedible. Tough, small and excessive beading. Fresh oyster has a lot of shell debris in them. Fried shrimp overcooked so tough. I don't get why this place is rated so high. Lunch for 6 food came out at all different times.

Roll was soft. Lobster meat was excellent, there wasn't any filler. It is not on the menu for some reason

It was our first time here; I had heard the line to order can be pretty long, so I was pleased we were able to order in under 5 min. I just went with a mayport shrimp basket with hush puppies, fries, and coleslaw. My hubby got the gator tail. We picked a table outside to take in the scenic view of the boats and marine life. Food came out in around 10 min; awesome! I really enjoyed all of it; shrimp were crispy and flavorful, coleslaw was delicious, fries were frozen, but still tasted good. I like that you can just get up and get refills and Togo boxes and condiments and not have to rely on a server. We will be back!

Finally was able to drive from Palm Coast. FlMayport Fl. To be able to try the restaurant Mayport shrimp. The Mayport Shrimp tasted like any other shrimp I have had across the U.S., plus it was not butterflied.Personally, I will not drive all the way there anymore. However, you may want to try it if your near by.
