We're very fortunate to have a first-rate family-oriented park almost in our backyard. It has so much to offer, including a children-only fishing lake and trails through a protected wildlife area. Many smaller pavilions and a couple of larger ones, two different types of playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, a beach volleyball area, a baseball diamond, and a disc golf course are among the amenities offered. (I even spotted a few football blocking sledges!) There are two entrances--one for the tennis, baseball, disc golf, and basketball fans; the other for the children's playgrounds (there's even a ninja-style course) and lake. We like to go and have lunch, shoot a few hoops, walk the trails, etc., for a relaxing couple of hours. The entrances were recently improved with grading so there are no big holes to drive through!!

A park in Clay County, Florida named in memory of Ronnie Van Zant, the lead singer of southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd who died with several others in a 1987 plane crash. It is a peaceful place, with a children's playground, a fishing pond, several pavilions, a baseball field, basketball courts, tennis courts, and more. This park is a fitting tribute to a man who never got to realize all he could have accomplished, that fate took him far too soon. But his legacy lives within his music. This park is a place to remember this man, to realize that life is short, and to dare to dream big.

First time visiting and our family absolutely loved it! Those who wanted to fish went fishing and those who wanted to enjoy the playgrounds surely took advantage of it too! It was perfect for everyone, they had b-ball courts beach vball courts, tennis courts....such a great place to host a bday party....loved our time there! Although being surrounded by trees may possibly mean...ticks are hanging around on those trees so mama avoided being under any tree...hehe!

I've been coming to Van Zant Park since moving to Clay County years ago. It's a nice big park that offers amenities and green space with a good blend. We were first drawn here by the Frisbee Golf course. It's well laid out & mostly shaded. Since first coming, they've added another 18 hole course.Years later, I planned a Scout Fishing Tournament there. Their pond is a kids-only pond (parents can fish with their kids) and supposedly it gets stocked by FWC. We didn't catch any fish - but we had a great time. The covered pavilions are very nice & well maintained. The park has basketball & tennis courts and a great playground for the little guys. Great place for an afternoon family outing!

Didn't even make it past the kids play area. Nice updated play equipment for the kids. Definitely enjoyed the mini ninja warrior course. Did see frisbee golf but unsure how far the course goes. Although the play area was crowded the kids were great and nice so that tells me this was a cool community. Folks were throwing birthday parties and using the grills. Nice place would definitely return.

Lynyrd Skynyrd fans and family donated money and worked to create this beautiful 90 acre outdoor haven just south of Jacksonville in honor of Ronnie VanZant, singer/ songwriter for the famous band.He loved kids, he loved fishin'This is a fitting tribute to one of Ronnies better sides.I wish I could write more.I wish Ronnie could write more.If you are a fan, visit for pictures like the one I posted. If you're anywhere near the place, its a good spot to take a kid fishing, or just walk among the trees. Play a round of Frisbee golf.Listen to Freebird on your Ipod, if you like. Its a beautiful place, and it honors a beautiful man who was a Jacksonville native.

One of our favorites even though it's a bit of a drive. The new playgrounds are awesome. Triple decker slide (as my son calls it) is a fun element and the whole thing has a very treehouse vibe. The zip line swing is also super fun (I speak from first hand experience) but can be tough for the little kids to pull up the ramp. The only complaint is that there could be more parking.

A great place to take kids. The biggest park I've ever seen. It can be a little overwhelming how many people are there.

We live just across the street from the park. It is always busy. There is a new upgraded playground. There is a Fishing pond that is stocked. Basketball courts, tennis courts, pickle ball courts. Picnic pavilions are available. They have one of the largest disc golf courses around. Lots of hiking trails also.Don't feee the ducks. They can be very aggressive.
