River Grille

Take a step back to old Florida with lush plants and palm trees on the Tomoka River. The expansive wooden decks take full advantage of the water view. Hushpuppies: fabulous!!Fish and Chips: fish was clean and flaky and the cole slaw was amazing. The fries were stale. Nutty Cheesy Salad with Cajun Chicken: delicious!

We had great service from Jenson (sp?). The covered outdoor patio was enclosed and heated so we could sit and look out the window. Our party had gator bites to start, followed by shrimp & grits, crab-stuffed flounder, a Florida fish Reuben and the fish and chips. We finished off with their famous Florida sunshine cake. Delicious as always!

I recently dined at The River Grille in Ormond Beach, Florida, and had a fantastic experience overall. The food was amazing, with the gator bites being a standout. They are truly to die for, and the accompanying sauce elevates the bites to another level. I also enjoyed a flavorful alcohol drink that perfectly complemented the meal. The restaurant offers a great dining atmosphere with a beautiful view of the water, making it a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy a meal.However, the service could use some improvement. Our waitress was a bit rude, which slightly dampened the experience. Despite this, I still highly recommend The River Grille for its delicious food and scenic location. Just a tip--bring mosquito spray if you plan to sit outside!Overall, The River Grille is a great restaurant to dine at in Ormond Beach. I'll definitely be returning for those gator bites!

1st time here in several years because my last couple of visits weren't good but today was very good. The restaurant wasn't busy as was mid afternoon on a January Saturday but the weather was pleasant so the deck was the place to be. We had the Flounder MAC sandwich, Shrimp and Grits, and a bowl of Clam Chowder. All 3 were great. I'm back in the (Tomoka) River Grill business,

This River Grille sure nailed it today! Overall, all the dishes were really darn good. Let's list them out for you:- Gator Bites: This is the first gator I've had that was worth having. A great coating and good bit of gator in the order. - Onion straws: great onion straws with a great batter and dipping sauce. - Clam Chowder: This was good but not my absolute favorite.....but still pretty solid. Good sized / volume of ingredients in the chowder. - Cajun crab boil: This one was a great dish and tasted great. All good sized snow crabs, good corn and potatoes. Even the hush puppies were a great crispy exterior with a soft inner part of the hush puppy. - shrimp & grits: grits were spot on flavor and shrimp cooked nice. - tacos weren't too bad...decent enough....not killer though. - mahi mahi: This dish had a great taste...just a bit overcooked. - Salmon was another solid dish and cooked well this dish was...This place gives you a solid entrees to choose from and are priced reasonably good. Good value and good experience.

The gator bites appetizer was the best I have ever had. Dipping sauce was excellent. I ordered the smoked hot wings in mild and it was very hot for mild. I had lots of good sweet tea to wash it down. My wife loved their hush puppies, very enjoyable evening,

Met up with friends and had a wonderful lunch!! Outstanding!!Love it! I highly recommend!!
