Pumpkins hill creek is beautiful, and the water by the rocks is very clear(until you get a few inches out). Plenty of parking spaces, no bathroom building, but there is a port-a-potty with hand sanitizer. I think there are also picnic tables too! This preserve is a great place to go to relax.

So I've known for years that this state park existed, however was in the area today and decided to venture out and find it... so happy I did... This side of the park has 3.6 miles of hiking paths, however, you can combine the path with a total of 11.5 miles of multi use trails that traverses between Pumpkin Hill Creek and three nearby city parks... I decided today without my hiking shoes on to drive a little further down and across the street to the canoe/kayak launch which also has picnic tables to enjoy my lunch! It was so serene, there were birds everywhere, and I was the only human in site or sound... I'll definitely be returning with my camelback and maybe a bonafide picnic in toe to get a better look at the trails and what FL parks have to offer...

Had a great 1st day of the new year exploring this area. Spent about 2 hours on the trails here and at the Cedar Point Reserve very close by. Beautiful day for being outside. 80 degrees in January???? This area is hidden away on Jacksonville's far north side. Lots of trails. Clean, except for the occasional horse poop. Scrub oaks and palmettos lead to a glorious setting of big creeks and salt marshes off the saint Johnson river. Check it out.

I was a little lost upon arrival. The entry way is in the middle of nowhere and there were sand like trails. I looked beyond to see if I saw anything in the distance but I just saw pathways of sand. The directions posted weren't very clear. I was the only vehicle parked in the area so I was a little skeptical to go by myself since it wasn't a very active location. I did like the fact that this is a equestrian friendly park - so if you have a horse, saddle up!

Very rustic trails for hiking, biking and horseback. The trails for hiking are all natural with lots of roots along the way. Not much shade so make sure you wear sunblock. Across the parking lot is another rustic trail that leads to a creek worth a bench. Overall this was not for us, but if your looking for rustic hike that makes for a good walk, this may be for you.
