The Y Stronger for our Community

Very unorganized youth sports. You would hope for kind and friendly service through the company. We allowed our son to play his second season of basketball after not being impressed last year. It was no better and perhaps worse. The refs allow these children to literally beat one another down physically. These kids are 8 and 9 yrs old. I attempted to contact sports director and received nothing back. Scheduler seems to come out last minute both seasons could have been better. Oh and please train the kids running the clocks. We will try another league in the winter, this is a shame due to he Y bragging about how they created the game.

My husband & I took a tour of the YMCA when we were trying to find a gym to join. It was several months before we went back, but once we got our money under control after buying our new house, we were ready to commit. I love that the Y is a month-to-month program; all they ask for is 30 days notice. And if you rejoin within a certain time period (two months, I think) you don't have to pay the initiation fee the second time. The gym has lines of treadmills & elliptical trainers along with a plethora of weight machines. There's a pool & rock climbing wall outside, a basketball court & studio rooms in class. They have a wide range of classes throughout the day. There's something for everyone. The staff is great & the view out the windows into the preserve makes thirty minutes on the treadmill fly by.

Disappointing location - dark and run down - locker rooms are horrific - not my favorite YMCA.

Recently I wrote the following review with 1 star on 11/6/2015: Became a member without given certain information and being informed of incorrect information. Depending on the outcome of a conversation I had with them a short time ago this review may change. If they right their wrong...this review will improve since it is a nice facility. Or I will give all the details of the poor happenings so it doesn't happen to you and to make it fully known. To update my review as of today (11/20/2015) I will say that they did "right" their "wrong" concerning my membership. I will not see the full results until next month. But I do feel as though they were trying and were apologetic for the the mistake. What was that mistake? They never informed us of the referral program to save 20%. If I had been told I would have found someone to refer us before joining. It was a few days after we joined when another member mentioned it. I inquired as to why we weren't informed.......well, you could hear crickets chirp, then they back peddled. I was ready to get a refund...but they found a work-around, but doesn't take affect until next month. At this point I'm putting my trust in them. So, if you want to join, make sure you get a referral from a friend, fellow member or heck send me a PM and I'll send you a referral so you too can save 20% for the lifetime of your membership! I'm here for ya!Onto the facility itself...it is very nice with adequate equipment from free weighs, machines, and classes available if the workout rooms do not interest you. They also have nutrition classes and workout coaches. There is an outdoor heated pool year around and a rock climbing wall. They also have after school programs for the children. That said, depending on your child's age...they may be able to workout on the treadmill & cross-trainers, or if they are over 13 they an use the equipment. A little class offered on Saturday's will just need to be accomplished first.I only just realized they do not want you to take pictures in the facility. I did snap a few before I learned of this rule and will post when I find them...sorry, just moved and I haven't downloaded all pics yet. I think this rule is because people don't like their pics posted in areas like this without permission, etc....I get it...I normally fuzz people out anyway if I can't get a pic without people in it.Why the 4? Well, I would have given them a 4 1/2, but that is not possible. They lack simple things for the buck...like a sauna or steam room in either locker room. The equipment is ample, but some is dated. The mirrored area in the workout room is quite crowded with equipment and there isn't any area totally open for squats or something where you need to look in the mirror lower...not without another piece of equipment being in your way that is. It is slightly cramped in areas...but we all do what we have to.

The is an AWESOME gym... one of my favorites! I've been a member for a long time and what I like most about the gym is the variety of activities. It's such a great FAMILY gym with something for everyone. I enjoy the cycling classes and my husband plays pickelball while my son has so much fun playing basketball pickup games during open-gym and my daughter loves the rock climbing wall and body pump classes. The staff is very friendly and the gym is clean with a ton of different classes for adults and sport activities for the kids. I think they do an exceptional job offering new programs throughout the year and special events over the holidays. If your joining and want to take advantage of the 20% off "Refer a Friend" promotion roll over on the left of this review and send me a message by clicking on the "Send message" text.

A great neighborhood Y. Great pool. Lots of exercise machines and other equipment to do all kinds of lifting, rowing, running. Nice, courteous, competent staff. If you're expecting fancy, sorry. Fancy it ain't. But it's clean, up-to-date, and affordable. And for that, it's five star-worthy all the way.

If I could give a lower rating I would. This is the worst YMCA I have ever been too, all of the staff is very rude. Most of the cardio machines are never working and the free weights are never in place or put back there always laying around and the staff just leaves it that way. AWFUL!!

It was interesting reading the reviews because the negative ones were a surprise. This is a YMCA not a for-profit Gym. The Y is more like a community center where the generations can gather and enjoy many activities under the same roof. The mission is more wholistic and community driven than a corporate gym. I love the fact that at any given moment the Y is supporting the community in ways that most members won't ever notice. They offer scholarships, assistance programs, even helped with meals for furloughed families during covid. I have seen concerned employees call members who suddenly stop coming, just as a way to make sure they are ok. They have an angel tree for kids at Christmas, a cancer survival program and senior day excursions. There is programing for wellness, sports, social events, and life experiences ie cooking, camping, sports, yet do it all without a lot of fanfare. (If there is any failing it is that they don't toot their own horn enough.) It is NOT a fancy place but it is an inclusive, kind, caring, place for all from newborn to the vey oldest seniors. It is a good place to make friends and meet people, starting with the staff who go out of their way to be friendly. In a few visits they will know your name and you feel welcome just walking in the door. The pool is heated and guards are present when it is open. The gym is always busy, but never too crowded to enjoy, and the equipment is perfect for the size of the facility. It IS small. But in a world where everything is so global, distant and angry, the Y is a sweet hometown kind of place where your stress can be left at the door. And for what it is worth, the folks that work there do not make enough money for them to stay for any reason except that they genuinely love what they do. They like each other, care about the people that come in and believe in the mission of the Y. It is like a breath of fresh air to be there.

The summer camp program here is a joke! Every time I picked my son up, he had something missing. Socks, sun block, clothes. His shoes were always untied which is a safety hazard. My son is 5 by the way. He would have wet swim shorts and swim shirt on all day in an air conditioning building. They told me right when I walked in one time that my kid punched another kid, bc the other child said so!! So the counselors didn't even see it themselves and just believed what some kid said to them. My son has NEVER hit another child. And they approached the situation very unprofessionally. I packed my sons sun block and it was missing and I asked them where it was and one of the counselors told me I didn't pack it!! How dare someone tell me what I packed and what I didn't pack. Please don't take your kids here for camp. Spend the extra money and take them somewhere else!
