PJ's Cafe & Catering

I work out in Hawthorne in the afternoons. All of my coworkers love this place, but I'd never had the chance to go, so I was happy for a Monday afternoon where we all could go! The restaurant is under new management and owners, but they do have some cow decor in honor of them. The new owners do accept credit card/debit card payments for food. PJ's is an absolutely adorable place situated in the Hitchcock's plaza. The minute you step in, this place is warm and inviting. The wait staff is friendly and so is the cook. If you're lucky, you'll get to hear them talking back and forth--it really makes the place feel like a home. Service was quick and very mindful of our water/coffee cups being filed. On this day, I had the veggie quesadilla, some beef quesadilla, sauté veggies, and mashed potatoes with gravy. Let me tell you--this food is amazing. I don't think I've ever had a restaurant give me so much flavor in my side of veggies. And the gravy on those potatoes was perfect. Some of the other items that my coworkers recommend are the meatloaf (a special), the liver and onions, the Shepard's pie (also a special), and the greens. It's really nice to have a restaurant in Hawthorne with so many options and good taste. This is a place worth putting on your regular breakfast or lunch dine out rotation. I'm looking forward to trying some of these specials myself!

If you want breakfast in Hawthorne, this is the place. Better food and better taste all around. Omelette and pancakes were excellent. I ate the exact same thing at Dianne's for two days in a row and decided to give this place a try and I'm glad we did. Don't change a thing as to me the ingredients and methods are perfect. It took about 15 to 20 minutes to get our food for 5 guys at our table which was slower than Dianne's, but it was definitely worth the wait. We will be back. The only thing I recommend is to add a credit card machine. You would likely get a lot more business. Thanks!

It's a small cafe with big flavors. I have been coming to this place for years. This restaurant is near my hometown in the country. I would gather up my nieces and nephews and bring them here for breakfast. The kids love those pancakes which are amazingly fluffy. It's like tasting a piece of heaven. I have had multiple items on their menu, and I can say I have never been disappointed.The restaurant is located in the strip mall of Hitchcocks grocery store. The dining area is small, but comfy. The owners are friendly people who seem to enjoy what they do. The customer service is great and so is the food.

Pjs is a great little breakfast/lunch spot! All of the food I have tried has been very good. They have great daily specials, and the place is always clean. The staff are all super friendly. I reserved one star only because I never have cash on me, and they currently do not accept credit or debit. If you are in the area, come check them out. Don't forget to bring cash!

We stopped here while traveling, because we were hungry. The outside is not very prepossessing - looks like a strip mall greasy spoon a - but the food was great! I had a Reuben. Dressing (obviously home made and delicious) was served on the side- a nice touch, The salad was fresh and included mixed greens, not just a chunk of iceberg lettuce,and the tomatoes were fresh and flavorful. My husband had breakfast and said it was excellent. The service was efficient and friendly, atmosphere was clean and cute.

Great greasy spoon (I say that with love)This place makes a great breakfast and the owners are on hand to serve you and make sure you're happy.The decor is grandma sheik with customers kids drawings mixed in.It's defiantly a great place to grab breakfast for fast friendly service and reasonable prices!

Great breakfast place! But plan ahead and bring cash because they don't accept debit or credit cards.

Great food and sooo affordable! I love "mom and pop" and "hole in the wall" places and PJ's is one of my favorites.

Since this restaurant sold awhile back gone down hill. Uses powdered eggs, out of basic supplies ( coffee, bread etc - and this with a grocery store next door). They open before 8am, but waitresses don't show up until 8am and then they are late. Go somewhere else.

Cash only! But great place to stop for breakfast. It's and cheap and the food is really good.
