Great service , friendly staff and an abundance of employees willing to translate my inquiries. I love the variety that this grocery store , butcher and restaurant has to offer. I can ask for many different cuts of fresh cut meats ranging from pork, chicken , beef or seafood. The variety of fresh and exotic fruits and vegetables are endless. The place is busy with very fast service. They even offer fresh cut ready to ear fruit at the checkout along with fresh bakery items . I always have a wonderful and insightful experience here.

I love Pepe's, which is why I'm not giving a 1 star review, but I had my first bad experience in 10 years, and I only say bad cuz it's not THAT big of a deal, but I am going to share. Our server was Gio, according to the receipt. She had long dark hair in a ponytail and dark rimmed glasses. Once we were sat, we waited on my son and husband while he napped in the car. She asked us if we were ready to order, we said yes, and she walked away & proceeded to take the order of the 8 top that sat just after us... once she made her way over, she asked for a napkin to write our order down. Other than her absolutely sour demeanor, the first red flag was the dry ass refried beans that somehow made it to our table. We asked for new ones and she said "they all look like that today," but then proceeded to bring me a side of fresh and appetizing refried beans. Huh? Well ok thank you. Second, on our burritos, we asked for extra tomatoes and rice on the side. She made sure to charge for extra tomatoes. It's 6 hours later and I'm eating my leftover burrito and there's rice in it. This is my bad for not noticing it at the restaurant so whatever. This reminded me of the fact that she charged us 18% gratuity on a table with three adults and three kids. It was never specified on the receipt that they would charge that on my "party of 6." Honestly, good move on her, because I planned on giving her less. So yeah, I'll be back bc I love this place. I was a server for a long time, I have sympathy, but I cannot stand shitty service.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. The place was very busy but I was seated without any wait. Going in I knew I wanted a plate of carnitas. They brought out the chips and salsa and my drink pretty quick. Overall, my carnitas was great. The sides of rice and beans weren't great. The rice didn't taste like any kind of sopa I know of, it was more of a white rice colored orange. The beans were almost a soup. The place was clean and staff was really nice but too busy to really socialize. Service and food go hand in hand here so it definitely depends on what games are going on and what time of the day you go. I've been here before just for some chicharron and guacamole (which is really good here) when it was less busy and service was very friendly and quick.

One of my new favorite Mexican places. Very authentic. Great prices, great value. I can't wait to go back and try more things! The chipotle bistec plate and the chicken meal my fiancé got were great. Highly recommend the shrimp ceviche tostadas, the shrimp was super fresh. We are gringos (hablo un poco Español) and our server was very patient and helpful in describing menu items we weren't familiar with and helping my fiancé choose an entree. This would be a great place to enjoy some cervesas or margaritas with a group of friends. Everything really hit the spot!I will definitely be taking more time to meander through the grocery store connected to the restaurant next time and see what catches my eye!

We did not enjoy the tacos but the waitress was super nice and we had zero communication issues. The chips and salsa were different and not in a good way. We won't be back since the food was not our style.

We ran across Pepe's restaurant while looking for a good place to get Mexican candy. We came back to try the food and have been back multiple times to try more items on the menu. First thing you need to know is that most of the menu is inSpanish. There are a lot of items on the menu to try. All you need to know is that bistec is steak and pollo is chicken. The chips are made from flour tortillas so they are different from other Mexican restaurants. They are different and can sometimes be very crispy/chewy. But don't let that deter you from trying this place. * The menu prices haven't changed so you can get a great meal for two for less than $30. * Dishes are authentic so they may be different than the what you are used to at other Mexican places. But be daring and give it a tryThe best dish we've had so far is the Taco's Pepe Bistec. You can get this as three tacos or a plate. Be sure to get the plate if you want the rice and beans. The Chilaquiles Bistec are good - be sure to get it with the eggs. I'll be back and try more items on the menu.

If you want authentic, this place is it. I can't believe I've never been here before, and I cannot wait to try more things on the menu. On top of that, the prices were great - especially compared to some local chains. Then after you eat, ensure you stroll around the store! There's a meat / butcher shop in the back and a huge pastry and bakery section.

Pepe's Hacienda is a hidden gem located in a nondescript strip mall on a forgotten side street (at least that's what it appeared to me as when I was following my Google directions) in Jacksonville, Florida. It is a restaurant with a small market attached to it that produces some fantastic food at an even more fantastic price. Scanning the menu, I opted for a steak burrito. They brought me an order of chips and salsa prior to my burrito and when the burrito came it was a good sized burrito and quite filling. It was also pretty good. I understand that is nothing groundbreaking, however, I failed to mention that the burrito was $4.95. Yes, under five dollars. I could not eat as cheaply at Taco Bell or even Subway and I was quite stuffed when leaving.Service was good, however there was a definite language barrier. Nothing too bad, but when I asked the one girl a question she ran and got another girl. She still did not understand me fully, but I was able to convey my order to her.Since it is in a shopping plaza, parking was not an issue and it was an easy process of getting here of of University (just down that one side street).Pepe's Hacienda is an excellent choice if you are looking for a great meal at a value price. It is far superior to fast food, yet has a similar (or lower) price point. I am so happy that I stumbled across this hidden gem and will definitely return. So, yes, I definitely give this place my recommendation. Go check it out.

The service is lacking and the place is in need of staff. The food is not good and poorly prepared? This establishment appears to have turned into a place for workers to go after along day of treacherous work outside to have a bucket of beer.
