Papa Joes Drive In

Wow! Salt Springs is the best roadside eats place around.Located along Hwy 19, Salt Springs is a pass through town in the middle of the Ocala National Forest when traveling to visit many of the amazing springs around.Papa Joes Drive In is a great stop to grab some grub on your way too or fro your daily adventure.Very COVID friendly as it is a drive in with a nice area to sit and eat situated away from the building where people come to order.The staff is super friendly and incredibly helpful. The woman who was working gave us great suggestions and honest feedback that we were offering way too much food (which ended up being fine, because the leftovers were great later even cold). WARNING: If you are looking for a healthy, diet conscious meal, this review does not cover that.We got the smoked pork sandwich, a cheeseburger and the Redneck Fries. All for under $20 with tip.First of all, the fries are the bomb! Crisp fresh fries smothered in smoked pulled pork and cheese sauce and served with BBQ sauce. They were a meal in themselves. A sinful delight.The smoked pork and burger were smoked in an onsight smoker which gave that delicious outdoor BBQ taste that you don't often get from restaurants. Simple, but delicious, both were nothing fancy, but top notch. The burger has crisp lettuce and a fresh slice of tomato to finish it off. After the fries and burger, we had no room left for the smoked pork sandwich. But, my husband at it cold the next morning (we were camping), and it was absolutely delicious.This isn't fast food. They cook everything to order. But, it sure is good food.

Absolutely recommend to anyone! Even if BBQ isn't your thing! Amazing food! Large portions, very friendly staff, clean and comfortable outdoor seating, restrooms. The only thing that would make Papa Joe's 11/10 would be a larger parking lot, however it is considered drive through. I suggest eating there. But drive through won't change how freaking good the food was!! We loved it so much and can't wait to go there again one day when we're back in beautiful Salt Springs.

My wife and I drove from Silver Springs to try this place out. We were not disappointed. I had the rib plate and she had the pork BBQ. The ribs had deep smoked flavor that fell off the bone. The BBQ sandwich was juicy and full of flavor. Portions were generous. We had talked with another couple who frequently stop there to eat. They said to also try the burgers. We will be back!The couple that own it are also very nice.

This tiny drive through that looks like a barbeque place has an impressively large and diverse menu. We tried the pulled pork with fries, cole slaw, baked beans and garlic bread. The garlic bread was outstanding. Everything else could have come straight from a can and seemed like it did. Not terrible, just not impressive at all. If you like sweet, smokey, tomato based barbeque sauce, my guess is they use Sweet Baby Ray's, which if you like that style, is a top choice in grocery store bottled sauce. Their other offerings may be better, there was certainly plenty to pick from, including fried fish to hamburgers. But what we had needed lots more seasoning rather than the feel of being served straight from the food service truck.

This is a small takeout place in Salt Springs. Burgers we got were big and tasted great.

Small drive thru take out place that appears to cater to local campgrounds and tourists. Excellent fast food made to order. Large portions, cost good and service is excellent nothing to complain about unless you're one of those never happy about anything.

Burger bun was soggy. Fries, macaroni bites & mozzarella sticks weren't that great. Ribs were okay aside from the dry and chewy edges.
