Old Cup Cafe

A charming little coffee shop with classic down home service and excellent coffee. I wasn't in a rush this morning so I decided to sit and enjoy a simple bagel and coffee by the cozy little fireplace. The bagel was very fresh and warm, so delightful to pull apart. Very nice coffee with a nice variety of options. Will definitely hit this as opposed to the loud trendy spot down the block. It's like visiting a neighbors for a quiet morning cup plus all of the pastries are fresh baked on premises each morning. YUM

This place is cute and charming, but the customer service is lacking and unwelcoming. The iced caramel macchiato is not good at all because it is heavily watered down. The person making it had a cup full of ice and melted it all down by pouring hot coffee over it. The americano was okay. I was disappointed with my experience here.

We noticed this dainty café while on our way to The Fox Restaurant, and being the coffee lovers we are... we just couldn't pass up the experience. Therefore, we saved our craving for a fresh cup of coffee until after breakfast at The Fox just to stop by the Old Cup Cafe. I must say, it kind of gave me the vibes of a little vintage, French pastry shop. Never been to France but, this is what I envision it would look like.Upon entering the café, I was totally expecting a nice greeting but didn't receive anything. But, I was in a great mood because that's just who I am. The mature gentleman behind the counter Pom our order with very minimal conversation. However, the delicious Caramel macchiato which stayed hot for nearly 1 hour and a half - total record breaker - made up for the lack of communication. I will be back to try the dirty chai latte. It sounds insanely good. Side note: if you are looking for a quite place to read, write, or study on a Saturday or Sunday morning... this is the place. It was super quite there.

This weekend we went to Old Cup Cafe after enjoying Boone Park and we had yet another bizarre and off-putting experience. After standing at the counter waiting to order for what seemed like eons I rang the bell and the gentleman that I presume owns the place shuffled to the front. I attempted to order one thing- a bagel. He informed me that it was too difficult to do given the other customers he was serving (there were maybe 2 tables with guests). We promptly left and had a great brunch across the street at the Brick. We'll probably never go back to a place where ordering a bagel is too great a request to fulfill. I have no idea how this place stays in business.

One of my first trips to the Avondale strip I was looking to grab a coffee to kill some time. I saw this little coffee shop and stopped in . I was the only one upon entry and from the looks of it , it appeared like an old diner style coffee house. I ordered a chai latte and the gentleman behind the counter made it for me. It was delicious! Actually one of the best lattes I've had in a while. If you are looking for a place to study or pull out the iPad I wouldn't suggest that this is the place. I am not sure if the ac was working the day I came but it was very warm and I didn't see the WiFi password posted anywhere .This places fits more for conversation or grabbing a pastry and sitting to chat. Overall, cute spot! I am sure I'll be back.

Ok- so this place gets a solid 4 stars from me . The stern Ukrainian working the counter has the perpetual "Don't f with me face" but the product here is great. I was expecting like an old mug with my coffee- like as a receptacle - buuuuut the only old mug here was the mean Ukrainian. All in all, I liked it, though the interior of the place , while homey, could use some love. If you are in the Avondale area and need a good cup of joe without a lot of fuss, check this place out

I've always wanted to stop in to this little cafe. It's just that, very little. It should be though. It has a very personal feel. I was craving a pastry and espresso for breakfast on Sunday. The owner made me an Americano and it was perfect, strong but not burnt. They had more than bakery options, sandwiches and such, but I got a raspberry coffee cake. It was yummy! It hit the spot. I'm only giving this place a 4 because with the small area, I would have felt more comfortable if he was wearing a mask.

Old Cup Cafe is located in the heart of Avondale (same block as Biscotti's) and is quite an adorable shop, very neat and clean. The bathroom is not for the claustrophobic though, extremely small, but clean.The red velvet cupcake here was the star of the visit. It was very rich and dense, flavorful but not overly sweet. The other choices available (shortbread bars, tarts, etc.) were beautiful to look at and very enticing. We will definitely be back to try other sweets here.Daughter had a hot chocolate, which she said was very good. I had a cappuccino, which was probably the strongest coffee I've tried since we started out coffee outings. It had a nice flavor but I was surprised by the strength of the brew.

This may be the best coffee in the Riverside Avondale area. Made to order cappuccino, lattes, etc. Bagels. Simple, fresh breakfast sandwiches, chicken salad. The pastries are all made in house. The vanilla and chocolate cupcakes are real buttercream. The chocolate buttercream cupcakes, when warmed to room temperature are so mouthwateringly delicious I've started dreaming about them.

First & most important of all, this place has the absolute worst customer service. The man who owns this place seemed mad that we even came in + did not greet us hello or say goodbye & made us feel very unwelcome. We ordered a plain cupcake and he immediately said "To go?" and when we said no- for here, he looked at us like he couldn't believe it. Cafe was extremely hot, and smelled like gasoline. no music. feels very off putting in here. while we ate, he walked to the front door and shut us all in and then he sat in the dark by a computer and just gave off very weird/scary energy. Save your money for better food and better service.
