O. C. White's Restaurant

Apparently we visited St Augustine during hell week (as the locals called it) and I understand why. There were so many people in the area that finding a place to eat was insane. We put our name on a list around 7pm and hovered around the bar until someone left to snag a seat in 30 minutes. Despite how busy the place was, the staff was excellent. One person came outside and offered some water bowls to a couple with three dogs and a long wait. Our interaction was mostly with the bartenders and they were great. They were taking orders from all directions, got them correct, and were still chatty and welcoming. Food was good. I chose the fried shrimp. A bit too much batter but it was served nice and hot and the cocktail sauce was good. Fries were crispy. There was both indoor and outdoor seating. They had a very nice patio overlooking the water. It was nice to get a couple blocks off downtown for a little quieter atmosphere.

Ohh what can I say about O.C White other than that they are Amazing. My wife and I have been coming here for years and love the place and the service. This time around with our toddler and new born was a bit different but we got to try the outdoor patio and even tho it was chilly they had heaters on so that worked out. They have live music playing and it wasn't that loud that we had to move or anything , and it was great music I had an Old Fashioned and it was great , as well as the St Augustine sangria, can't go wrong with white or red , both are amazing. We ordered a kids pasta with chicken and were not impressed as it barely had marinara on it so you are basically paying $15 for plain pasta with chicken. The blue crab cake as an appetizer was outstanding but it's just one cake and not two, hint.... Hahaha Shrimp and Grits for me and Lemon Rosemary chicken for the wifey both were amazing. Side note... while they can sit you and the little kids upstairs, you have to either leave the stroller downstairs or get ready to fold it and move it upstairs where is really tight, so the outside patio is your best option.

The place is pretty, inviting and cozy. Our waitress Cat was terrific. The ambiance is great, but unfortunately we were not impressed with the food or drinks. The old fashioned a were just basic and too pricey for what they were. I personally don't like having a maraschino cherry in an old fashioned. The appetizer was cold and lacking flavor. The chips tasted as if they were poured out of a bag. The price for the appetizer was high as well. Not a place we would go back to.

I came in here with my co-workers for dinner.There was a private party upstairs, there's a beautiful outdoor seating area and a comfortable downstairs area.Our waitress was very sweet and checked on us often.I ordered the shrimp and grits and a passionproff mojito. The mojito was very sweet. The shrimp and grits taste pretty good.Overall, it's a fun place to stop by for dinner.

This place is a bit of a hot mess. We had a dinner reservation for 8 PM at another restaurant but needed a quick snack around six. we went to the host stand and the man was planning to see us, but then another lady came up and said the kitchen is backed up and no more orders for 30 minutes so no table for us. They took our name and we sat at the bar. My husband was able to order french fries. They came out really fast. we sat here for about an hour and they never called us for a table. Luckily, we did have a reservation somewhere else. The fries were good, but nothing special. There was only two bartenders for the entire restaurant and they were pretty busy.

What a terrible experience. Let me start with the good. Ok, all done.Now the bad. A 30+ minute wait for a table, so we stopped at the bar. I order an old fashioned. Certainly the worst old fashioned I've ever had. Tried to switch over to a beer, but the 2 bartenders were just joking around with each other and couldn't get them to help us. Hey, manager/owner - these 2 are costing you $$$ by not wanting to sell drinks. Finally got ones attention, and she said she was busy doing an inventory (at 6PM on a Saturday??!!??) so we could "have our booze." Again, costing the owner $$.Finally seated at a table outside and we waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, we had enough and left for another place nearby. I have no idea why anyone would come here.

First time try out this restaurant bad experience began with rude hostess who obviously was in a bad mood. Waitress took over 10 minutes to get a beer brought to table, food was hot and tasty large portion for a lunch, tried to make best of it until hostess came back to table next to us and began literally throwing the baby high chair into wall. That was it, got bill and left very disappointed- won't be back- too many restaurants in St Augustine who give good customer service and decent food.very unhappy customer
