Moon River Pizza

Discovered a treasure in Murray Hill this past weekend in Moon River Pizza. I don't know the origin story but it seems like some GenXers got together, decided to open a great pizza restaurant with the goal to make great food and create a fun atmosphere with impeccable service. We entered and ordered. We were complimented on our order and told that we had to try the balsamic glaze with our fried eggplant pizza and it was great advice. We were given a marker for our table. It wasn't numbered. It was an artistic rendering of Molly Ringwald wearing a Judd Nelson T-shirt. The interior is artistic and eclectic with local art on the walls and there are a couple of TVs that featured the Army/Navy game. Stickers lined the kitchen. It was like a 90s dorm room or apartment. Everything we ordered was great. The cheese calzone just had immaculate dough and the sauce was perfect. Tangy, not sweet. The epitome of what sauce should be. The medium fried eggplant pizza was actually rather large compared to other pizza locations in the area. The pizza was good on its own. I added a bit of oregano and red pepper but the balsamic glaze made it a home run. Alt rock was playing quietly in the background and several times while we were eating, our drinks were topped off and everyone on the staff paid close attention to everyone there and they seemed to legitimately enjoy doing it. Their attitude was infectious. Great outing, great place. We'll be back for sure...often. If you haven't tried Moon River Pizza, I highly suggest you do. This place is fantastic!!!

After a great concert at Murray Hill Theatre, we took a stroll down here in hopes that they may still be open. Once we walked in, I talked with the staff, who were super accommodating and provided us with everything that we needed to conclude our date night.Thank you for just being home folks

Went with a friend and had calzones (funny shape, serious flavor) for dinner. It must've been kids night because there were several of them there with Disney on the TV. Surprisingly, it was well tamed, and everyone was very well mannered (no screaming Mimi's, thank you!!). The wait-staff were great and very attentive, stopping by on several occasions to make sure everything was OK. I'm not sure where I put it all, but I ate almost that whole calzone. It was absolutely delicious! I would recommend this place.

A vintage, chill, friendly place to have a fantastic pizza! Ordered the large white pizza and added bacon, just to make sure I would have left overs for the next day. The crunch, and mix was flavors is a hard one to compare to other places. While waiting and eating my pizza I was not the only one excited that they had the Mummy playing, it seems like we had made it to a Pizza Movie night lolService was fantastic, and we were even treated to some delicious chocolate cupcakes. Coming back soon!

First time dining in and we were wowed by the friendly and fantastic service! This comfortable pizza place in Murray Hill is a great space with local art on the walls and great pizza. It has a welcoming, neighborhood feel and a great spot for families too. Easy ordering at the counter and a variety of tables and booths for seating. Our drinks were refilled often and our pizza and calzone came out cooked perfectly. The dough is delicious, cooked just right for a chewy crust that isn't tough. We loved the breaded eggplant pizza and the suggestion of adding some balsamic glaze made it a home run! We ordered a medium size pizza and it was so big, can't imagine how big the large one is! Really appreciated the offer of some balsamic glaze to go with our leftover slices too. The calzone was good as well, the dough again cooked perfectly and the accompanying tomato sauce was just the way I like it, not sweet and flavorful. I prefer my calzone with more ricotta than mozzarella but it was still tasty. The extra sauce was perfect for crust dipping too. We have enjoyed a few pies for carryout before but are excited to find an open and welcoming spot to dine in at Moon River!

We all know the pizza's really good here at moon river pizza, but really, what is delightful here is the service. I had at least 5 different people ask if we needed anything like our drinks cups need to be refilled etc.. all of them seemed to Just really take an interest in our experience there. This is a great model for other restaurants to follow. Enjoyed!

Absolutely love this hin Jim found in Murray Hill. I came here with a friend after work and we eventually had some other people come visit us. It's definitely a family friendly environment. Seating is first come first serve, but we were able to get a large table to accommodate everyone. Service was quick and very friendly. we ordered half Gorgonzola salad, a special everything slice and the Maui Wowi pizza. A cool special they run sometimes if you buy another slice you get another beer.

Shoutout to Avery who made sure my order was perfect and was very kind to delivery i to me personally. I was waiting next door at Town Beer during my all vinyl music DJ event and she surprised me with my super delicious veggie pizza pie! I saved a few slices to enjoy the following day at home...Ao glad I could continue to enjoy! Great food, customer service and location...Pizza lovers must visit Murray Hill to enjoy the best pizza around! Cant wait for my next visit soon!

Great pizza by the slice (trust me, one slice is a lot of pizza)! They serve thin crust, and have fresh ingredients and options galore (artichoke, broccoli... plus all the regular stuff). You can buy whole pizzas, and salads too. Place your order at the counter and find a table. Waitstaff does come by as needed. The vibe is chill, nice staff works hard with a good attitude. You can buy beers as well. It's on our regular rotation for going out for a tasty, reasonably-priced meal. Keep up the good work, Moon River!

This is another favorite that I love to visit from time to time. It's not fancy but the pizza is good, the salads are fresh and the servers are super friendly. Located in Murray Hill, there are other venues within walking distance for after dinner activities. I think this place represents the eclectic beauty of the Murray Hill, Avondale, Riverside, Ortega and Lake Shore areas. The prices are very reasonable and there's usually plenty of parking on the street. If it's a busy night, you might have to walk a bit but it's worth it for something local, friendly and casual!
