Not as good as it used to be. This location is open very limited hours compared to the Beach location although I haven't tried that one yet. On my most recent visit they were closing up 46 minutes or so before posted closing time around lunch hour. Not sure if that's the normal or not but folks calling in or attempting to enter was told they were closing up. Credit card machine was down so they either had to take down the credit card info, or use cash. I ordered the chicken with a side to-go. The value wasn't there and the meal did not hit the spot. If you are looking for a family owned BBQ joint that's in the area I would suggest trying Sea Boar which is still on Cassat on the opposite side of I10. They have lunch specials and their BBQ IMO is better.

Well, I'm in town for the Kat Williams concert and was a little hungry. I told my honey that there was a nearby barbeque spot that was like 10 minutes from the hotel. The only rush was that it closes at 3 pm. We arrived and pretty much around 2:30 pm. We looked at the menu and decided to split a dinner portion meal, consisting of burnt ends and brisket. It came with a piece of toast, and the sides we picked were green beans and macaroni and cheese. After placing the order, you can seat yourself to any available seating.The food arrived promptly, and food was warm to temperature, not hot. We went to eat and placed all three sauces to flavor the meats. The Monroe sauce was sweet with a little heat, I liked. The sweet sauce was also good. The mustard sauce I can do without. The meats were well seasoned with a smokey flavor. The mac n cheese wasn't so tasty, nor were the greenbeans. I forgot to mention we ordered a banana pudding that my honey ate, and he stated it was okay. At the end of the day, this was average for me, but you can come for yourself.

My colleague and I decided to stop on in for lunch and I'm glad we did. Monroe's Smokehouse BBQ is known for its authentic Southern barbecue experience. Locals praise the tender meats, flavorful sauces, and generous portions. Popular menu items include the pulled pork, ribs, and smoked chicken. We ordered combo plates with multiple sides like mac and cheese baked beans, and collard greens- highly recommend. We received friendly service, great tasting food, and found the menu items to be reasonably priced making it a definite return for us next business trip up to Jacksonville FL.

So delicious! If you like the "fatty" and I mean the fatty brisket, ask for the burnt ends and ask for them fatty. The beef brisket in my absolute favorite at this location. The spice ranch dressing is a must and they always recommend it. It's fantastic with the fries! I enjoy sitting at the high top bar because I usually go for lunch. Save room for the banana pudding because it's excellent and homemade. The sweet tea is a must here as they know how to make it right. And overall, I continue to patronize this location because the service is fast and friendly. If you're in a rush, call ahead. They are always prepping customer pick-ups during the weekdays as this is a very, very, very popular place for lunch. And don't forget to check out the daily specials...5 Stars!

Great place for BBQ, the 3 meat salad was super filling and arrived quickly. I would almost have to guess they make their own Blue cheese dressing. No disappointments

Good service and friendly staff. Good food and nostalgic atmosphere. Clean restaurant. Huge drink cups. 4 star due to price. $16 for lunch

Monroe's Smokehouse on the Westside is finger licking good!If I were a betting lady, I would bet this is, by far, the best place In town!I used to live on the Southside by the other location, and have been there a few times, but this one is top notch!Funny side note....I first initially went to Monroe's because I thought the sign said Monroe's Steakhouse....glad I stayed!Restaurant is clean, big, and has several tables to meet the need of the customers. Staff is friendly and accommodating...and food is fresh and hot!Parking.....eeeekkkkk they are so good, parking can be a problem. But give it a second and you will find a park. As we entered, we jumped in line and started the process of ordering. We went on a Friday...so you know we had to get the smoked meatloaf. But we also got the Burnt ends platter with 2 sides. Make sure you look on the specials board....they don't list everything in the menu.The meatloaf was the Friday special, and it did not disappoint! It was smoked perfectly with a nice crust and smoky flavor! The burnt ends were crunchy with the perfect amount of tenderness in the middle!Hours are limited and closed on Sundays....so get there when you can.Fridays are open late!Can't wait to go again!

So I was googling BBQ places by my house and this place popped up so I called in the order for togo the service was awesome they was about to close and the lady still took my order that was awesome from the jump...so I'm from Nashville Tn and I love good BBQ hands down and this place filled my BBQ expectations I had the turkey sandwich with a side of Mac and Cheese when i tell you the turkey was moist juicy and tasteful the Mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy just awesome Im for sure coming back to eat here again I would recommend this place over all the places I've visited for BBQ since I've been here in Florida thanks for great customer service and food you have 5 stars in my book can't wait to come eat again

Coworkers decided to order Monroe's for lunch yesterday. I use to frequent this place about 6-7 years ago, so I had high expectations. This was an order placed over the phone and picked up. My order consisted of the 10 smoked wings (dry rub,) cajun ranch dressing, and a baked sweet potato. First off, I'd completely forgotten that they give you these gigantic take-out trays, so I was like "who's food is that?" lolMy food smelled wonderful! Perfect amount of smoke. The wings could've been a tad bit more tender, but the flavor was good. I dipped them in the ranch and it had a sweetness to it that I wasn't expecting from cajun ranch, tasty. On to the sweet potato, which btw, was huge! It looked like it wasn't fully cooked, so it wasn't as tender as I'm used to. I added the butter/brown sugar mixture that they give you to go with the potato...sooooo good! It was cooked just enough. I misjudged that potato, my bad! Next time, I will be trying the sweet potato soufflé! If it tastes anything like that potato, I'll be very pleased. Did you catch that though, I'll be back! Oh, and the ribs used to be awesome, Smokey, tender and delicious, I'll have to try those with the soufflé.
