When these guys are on their game, they serve up some damn good barbecue. The pulled pork plate, especially the Carolina pork, is extremely solid, and I actually think their sauce options are some of the best around, especially the regular house sauce. However, if you come on an off day, you are liable to be very disappointed. The other day I had some of the worst brisket I've ever had from this truck - leathery and dry as the Sahara. The sides are hit and miss. I would say to go for the cornbread soufflé and the greens, but avoid the baked beans which taste like they are 90% commercial grade fake maple syrup, 10% beans. Value is decent, though, given the portion sizes, and the service is efficient.

Monroe's On-The-Go Food Truck is on-site at Metro Square Office Park every Tuesday from 11AM to 2PM. It may be Taco Tuesday for many, but it sure is Barbecue Tuesday for me! They have Pulled Pork, Carolina Pork, Beef Brisket, Turkey, Chicken, Ribs, and jumbo wings. You want salad? They have that too. My favorite is the ribs. Fall off the bone goodness! I also like the Carolina Pork. I love the vinegary-flavor to it. Add collard greens and corn bread soufflé to the mix and I have a complete lunch platter. Also comes with a couple of toasts. Awesome service as always!Monroe's uses Facebook and Twitter in providing advance notice on when and where the food truck will be setting up.

Had the Carolina pork, collard greens, and fries. Everything was really good and cheap, $9 for lunch. Will definitely be trying other things on the menu in the near future!

Call me crazy, but I think Monroe's has the best BBQ around. It's perfectly seasoned, juicy, and melts in your mouth. The collard greens are to die for - and I'm super picky about collards. The cornbread soufflé - bites of custard-y cornbread heaven. Promise, you'll hear the angels sing on this one.

For BBQ from a food truck, this one does it right. Fall off the bone pork ribs. Great sides - and variety - had the sweet potato soufflé and baked beans today. For a lunch portion, 2 large ribs and a medium rib. Can't beat it for less than $10. Really hit the spot today. Great job!

I first learned of Monroe's from the food truck. It's just as good as the restaurant. Menu is limited but it's worth it. The meat always have a nice Smoky flavor. The sides can sometimes be over seasoned. Don't expect bland anything.

I don't think I'd ever make a good vegetarian because I love BBQ pork too much. Monroe's makes some of the best pulled pork I have ever eaten - moist and tender and with just enough fattiness to make you look forward to your first coronary bypass. I enjoyed the pork more without any BBQ sauce, to be honest. I ordered mine with sweet potato souffle and mac and cheese. The m&c was just that . No fancy bechamel sauce or crushed Ritz crackers on the top - just pure, unadulterated macaroni and cheese. The souffle could've stood to be sweeter, but I'm one who eats Sugar In The Raw directly from the packet so I may be a little biased. Another thing that sometimes shows up on the menu is the BBQ pork fries. Seasoned fries, covered with BBQ pulled pork and cheese sauce. Oh. My. God.The truck sometimes pops up at Everbank Plaza in Riverside during lunch. What is it about Everbank that attracts all of the food trucks? Totally unfair for those of us who work in the downtown area. I've got an idea - the city should raze the Landing to the ground and build a food truck park like Atlanta has with umbrella-covered picnic benches. That would be much better use of that prime, river-front property.

This place has fantastic BBQ. Juicy, packed with flavor, and filling. I fell into a food coma easily afterward. They only come to this location (Capital Plaza) on Tuesdays and Fridays during lunchtime. Their Carolina BBQ pork comes already marinated in a vinegar barbecue sauce, but even their regular pork sans sauce is already moist and flavorful. For sauciness, hey have several BBQ sauces to choose from. You can get your BBQ as pork, beef, chicken, or turkey. If you're not feeling like a plate, you can get a sandwich, salad, or wings. For a side, you can get sweet potato souffle, french fries, coleslaw, collard greens, baked beans, macaroni & cheese, and during the colder months if it's available, chicken noodle soup. Finish your meal off with sweet tea and one of their desserts, like their banana split pie. If you are traditional and prefer somewhere indoors to sit down and eat, they have a restaurant Monroes Smokehouse BBQ on the westside of town.

The dude up front is super rude to customers and yells at his co-workers. Take your money elsewhere.

I prefer the central Texas style brisket.I ordered the chopped brisket sandwich with cheese sauce!?!? (Very low expectations). The Texans don't even put BBQ sauce on their brisket traditionally, let alone a cheese sauce!I'm that hungry so what the hell.First the brisket needed nothing. Smoked well good mix of lean and moist along bark. Would really like to have tasted it sliced. The cheese sauce didn't take away from it that much, more of a melted cheddar vs, the feared nacho cheese sauce.I'm looking forward to try one of the restaurants one day.
